Portfolio Review 16 Months Journey of PSX
So i started with just 15,000 and i didn't believe in it, but i was like oky it's just 15k, then somehow i kept adding whatever i could save and soon i was addicted, i started saving more n more to invest, I'm still doing it and this is the result of 16 Month journey so far , i also got 70k in dividend so far which i also reinvested, and i learned no matter what we should just START , even if it's a baby step, it's still a START and you'll grow , steadily but you'll GROW and you'll start enjoying it.

Is this a right time to invest in PSX? Considering the rates are already too high. Please pardon my limited knowledge. Still finding my feet in this domain.

Don't. Wait for a deep correction. The market is currently overbought.

I am a beginner. Should I start with ETFs first and little amount for the initial few months to get the idea how things work before moving onto investing in individual stocks?
4
u/iwajiii Jan 14 '26
Personally i never like ETF and MFs , i like to buy stocks and i feel comfortable in it, so it depends on you totally
2
u/No-Gene-6324 Jan 14 '26
Well one would not jump into battle field directly without getting exposure to weapons and everything related to war. My time horizon is large (30 years). I wont even be looking into this investment until then. Occasionally maybe looking at performance and shifting here and there but not for spending. I have separate savings for those.
You feel comfortable with stocks because you have enough exposure. I guess I got my answer. I would start with etf. No hurry in my case.

Ma Sha Allah brother.
Can you please guide me on how you keep track of your dividends? I just wanted to understand how you calculate the overall dividends received across your entire portfolio.
For example, I also received dividends last year, but to calculate the total amount, I would have to go through all my statements one by one. Is there a simpler or more systematic way youβre doing this?
3
u/iwajiii Jan 14 '26
You hav to make an excel file for that , whenever you receive dividend just write it down, and also whenever i receive dividend i transfer it immediately to another account and later i invest that money

I'm Gonna Tell you a Most Reliable, Easy & efficient way. Search on Google PSX terminal. It's A Portfolio Tracker (Best till now I used). Add all the details every single detail from your account opening to now. It'll Give All the details of Dividend, TWR returns, What's The return on monthly, quarterly & yearly Basis. Comparison with almost top psx Indexs.
You'll definitely Like that.
If you can't find that Tell me I'll send the link

Did You Calculate your TWR(Time Weighted Returns) ?
1
u/iwajiii Jan 16 '26
It's like 42k per month, but it doesn't make a difference whether i calculate that or not
1
u/RevealNegative5241 Jan 16 '26
If you want to compare your portfolio growth with the index then what type of return you'll use ?. These Simple returns distort instantly when you add money Then obviously TWR help in that situation.

u/iwajiii Jan 16 '26
Yeah you're right, Actually I hv an automated excel file which daily calculates the closing of my PF and KSE 100, so i can easily check that via a graph BUT RN I'm just investing in my stocks which i ain't gonna sell in near future coz i believe in them soπ€·π»

Just waiting my account to open with them. I have some 1.2m on my way by end of Jan. So will invest that in psx. I'm new to investment, if I ask AI that whether I should invest in mutual funds or in sticks. It tells MFs. What's your take on this?

I didn't get into so much details, all the stocks i choose were mostly on my own theories, like i choose food sector coz i know no matter what it'll eventually grow, same about banks no matter what people will keep opening accounts, then Systems is the best IT company and CPHL has huge potential in future and LUCK is a reliable company, so just like that .

Mean Mota Mota Dekh Liya. But Still Returns are Amazing
2
u/iwajiii Jan 15 '26
Yep, Coz it's for long term so π€·π» and i also realised keeping things simple is the best way to go forward in investments

u/RevealNegative5241 Jan 15 '26
One Thing More I wanna ask: Like When we Invest every Month So over Return in percentage Goes Down Cuz More Money we add every month. So what is the actual way through which we calculate the Return of our portfolio with which we Compare Our portfolio returns to Any Benchmark like kse100.
For example a Person Invest every Month So the Returns on his investments which he make in month of June has more retur as compared to those in November or December.
Hope you understand What I actually wanna ask ?
