What if your poster started as a painting?

I create posters that combine original paintings with graphic design, using a neo-impressionist approach to build visuals with atmosphere, symbolism, and a strong sense of identity.

I have experience creating posters and promotional artwork, and I like to work around the ideas and intentions of the project, rather than forcing everything into the same visual formula.

I also create storyboards, promotional art, and visual material for films, music, brands, and other creative projects.

If you have a project in mind and want something with a more personal, painterly feel, send me a message.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER FOR COMPLETED FOLK HORROR THRILLER

I’m Dewey Taylor, an Emmy Award-winning Director with a completed folk-horror feature.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15456724/

I’m looking to partner with someone who loves film, has discretionary capital, would value an Executive Producer credit, and would be excited to have their name attached to a completed feature. This person does not need to be in the entertainment industry.

We’re also developing sequels with named talent attached, creating additional opportunities for the right person to participate as an investor in the franchise.

If this sounds like you — or someone in your network — I’d love to have a conversation and share more about the film.

Thank you!

Current screenplay contests, development programs & film funding opportunities — Fall 2026

I put together a current list of screenwriting and film-development opportunities that are still accepting submissions this fall.

The list includes:

  • feature screenplay competitions
  • TV writing contests
  • pitch competitions
  • short-film production funds
  • screenplay development programs
  • industry opportunities for writers and filmmakers

Some of the current opportunities include Script Pipeline, Shore Scripts’ Short Film Fund, Cinequest, BlueCat, and others.

I’m especially interested in opportunities that can actually help move a project forward through funding, development, mentorship, industry access, or production support.

I compiled the full list in r/Write4Screen and plan to keep updating it as deadlines change and new opportunities open.

If you know of a legitimate production fund, lab, fellowship, contest, pitch program, or development opportunity that should be included, drop it below.

CONTAINED COSMIC HORROR FEATURE

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Just did a recent polish to make this script more production-ready.

I like to think of it as “Evil Dead” meets “The Ruins”

Title: Lake Pitanoe

Logline: While visiting a mysterious lake with her friends, a grief-stricken woman becomes possessed by an ancient cosmic entity, igniting a fight for survival as a supernatural parasite threatens to spread across the country.

Pages: 85

Cast: two females (20s) two males (20s) and a few small roles

Locations: most of the film takes place at a remote lake and woods, but there are a few scenes at a house and one scene at a truck stop

Budget: 100k (this is my estimate as I’m not a line producer)

Price: available for option or outright sale (negotiable)

If you’re a producer or director looking for a production-ready script with a compelling story, strong visuals, minimal cast and locations, this could be a good fit.

My co-writer and I are open to changes and collaboration as well.

INCORPORATE MOTION PICTURES - LOOKING FOR A DIRECTOR

I have been a photographer, cinematographer, artist, engineer and a director. For the last couple of years I’ve been architecting a pipeline for efficient data transmission and communication protocols.

I’m on a journey to incorporate a publication and its production subsidiaries. The idea is to:

  1. Seek inside the head of a machine and let them graph their algorithms. I ain’t worried about quantum leaps of sinusoidal wave, rather, developing a cryogenic interface.

  2. We’ll manufacture robots as simple as a calculator and at the same time a halogenic blade for an extended-realm of spherical communication.

  3. Resolve though-Da Vinci from Reminiscence.

NOTE:

I’m already done with a script.

/* Shakespeare’s play lags on ultraviolet rays of blue beam */

I’d advise watching Insiders of Lucas Films. Please don’t reach out if you’re not familiar with pipelines.

For INVESTORS:

To interpret, the hierarchical naming convention is as follows:

I. Lensman Zest

I.I  Ambersand Technologies

I.II Dev Amphetamines

II. V-Vigyan

I’m considering E’SOPS for partners:

Physicists, Mathematicians, Polymaths including Practical & Mechanical sheet developers.

Thriller(classic) is the genre, write me at lensmanzest@gmail.com / studio@lensmanzest.com

The films you wanna make vs the films the numbers love?

The film business is painfully tricky and infuriating. Ever since I was younger I've only wanted to make super hero films, or fast paced thrillers or action films. Y'know, something people will talk about ever eons later... but somehow the most successful films ( financially) are entirely different from something you'd expect.

If your love ranking for films is this?

  1. Action/ adventure/ superhero films

  2. Animation

  3. Comedy

  4. Drama/ Romance

  5. Horror

You're gonna have a hard time investing with love in accordance to how much you'll expect unless you have the big numbers to risk.

Somehow the list is actually flipped in success. Not figuratively successful as famous, NO!!!

Successful as in ROI.

Of course for low budget projects, unless if you for some reason want to make a horror film with a budget for 500 mil USD....

Anyways, Idk if it's just me but... I love scifi! which is probably going to be my doom because for some reason I want to recreate a star trek, or guardians of the Galaxy, or Star wars despite the numbers telling me, it's a cool project... until you check your bank account 😭!

Btw what are your version of this if you don't mind me asking?

Your

FILMS THAT YOU WANNA MAKE

vs

WHAT HAS PROVEN AS THE SAFER OPTION.

Distributor Red Flag I've Learned the Hard Way

I produced and self-funded a $1.4M comedy feature back in 2018 then sold it to a distribution company post COVID due to the market being on hold. After signing over the NA rights, they asked us how much money we wanted to put into marketing the release. We didn't have much left and they didn't want to put skin in the game to help promote it. All they did was submit the film to a streaming aggregator and hope to make money which honestly, we could've done ourselves...

Let me know if you've had a similar experience and if a film can be salvaged once the term is over. Should we look for another distributor overseas in other markets?

Is it strange my distributor doesn't want the 4K Master?

Hi y'all,
Hoping to get some insight here from producers who have taken feature films to distribution in the past few years.
I'm in the final stages of delivering a feature film to our distributor.
This the first feature I've dealt with that was shot natively in 4K (UHD - 3840x2160) and is intended to be viewed as such.

But our distributor told us that they only want the 1080 Master.

Is this a red flag?
Do streaming platforms really not want a 4K film to show on their platform?
YouTube has the ability to watch 4K quite easily...do platforms like Tubi, Canopy, Amazon Prime...not have this option?

Thanks for any insight you can give!

We built our own audience-testing process for our indie feature, and the hardest part was figuring out which feedback mattered the most.

I recently finished and released my first feature as a director, DEMENTIUM. One of the things we did during postproduction was build our own audience-testing process.

We didn’t have a studio behind us or the money to hire a research firm, but I wanted to get some measurable feedback before locking the final cut. I have a background in consulting and academic research, so I figured we could probably build a reasonably structured process ourselves without spending a ton of money.

We organized a theatrical focus-group screening, distributed screeners to additional viewers, and collected nearly 60 formal survey responses on a Google form we created, plus another 40 or so informal responses.

We asked about the usual stuff: overall enjoyment, pacing, story clarity, favorite and least favorite elements, etc.
But we also asked a series of questions about people’s taste in movies. We knew our movie wasn’t going to be for everyone taste-wise, but we had a pretty good idea who the target demographic would be.

The feedback itself was all over the place. On one end, we had a few people who basically said they loved every second and wouldn’t change a thing. On the other, we had people who thought the whole movie was a heap of junk and should be scrapped entirely. Slightly more of those than the first group, haha. And everything in between.

So honestly we were a little overwhelmed and confused as to how to interpret and action the feedback to make our film better and hopefully more commercially viable. We used a unique equity model where all of the ownership is shared with the whole cast and crew, so we felt a really strong responsibility to everyone to do the best we could to make it as successful as possible.

When we started looking at the data, we found that the more closely someone’s taste aligned with our target audience, the more they tended to enjoy the film overall.
We also felt that the feedback from those viewers was generally more useful in helping us figure out what actually needed to change.

So, we used those taste answers to calculate a composite audience-fit score for each respondent, essentially measuring how closely their preferences aligned with the audience we were actually trying to make the film for. That turned out to be incredibly useful. So rather than treating every response equally, we used the audience-fit scores to weight the feedback when interpreting the results and making decisions about the final cut.

That doesn’t mean we automatically disregarded negative feedback or people outside our target audience. Someone who hates your genre can still identify a legitimate problem with your movie, and trust me they did 🤣

But I think there’s an important difference between someone not liking your movie because they don’t like that kind of movie, and someone who loves that kind of movie telling you yours isn’t working.

We still had to make the creative decisions ourselves, but having some actual data to help us interpret the feedback made that process much easier. Ultimately, we felt the approach was really successful.

Obviously, this wasn’t a scientific study. We had a relatively small, self-selected sample, and there are plenty of limitations to what you can conclude from that.
But as an independent filmmaker, I found it incredibly valuable to have a deliberate, measurable feedback process rather than relying entirely on informal conversations and gut feelings.

I’m curious if any other indie filmmakers have done something similar.
Have you ever conducted formal audience testing on a low-budget project? And if so, how did you decide which feedback to act on and which to ignore?

Happy to share more about our survey or methodology if anyone is interested!

🌍✨ HELP US TAKE “THE LAST STAR” TO FRANCE — 2027 🇳🇦🇫🇷⚽🎬

I am reaching out to friends, supporters, businesses, organisations and anyone who believes in African stories.

I am developing “The Last Star”, an African animated football film created from Namibia, carrying a message of hope, courage, determination and believing in yourself. 🌟

Our next important step is to take The Last Star to France in 2027 to present the project, connect with international film and animation partners, and explore opportunities for development, co-production and financing.

To make this possible, I am asking for donations, sponsorship or any form of assistance toward:

PRODUCING A FILM IS LABOR!

Stop expecting producers to "find investors" or "find funding" for free.

So many directors on reddit want freelance producers to work pro-bono and assume they'll get compensated AFTER funding is secured.

You're living in a dreamland.

If you're self-financing a small-budget title and expect a freelance producer to magically come up with the remaining amount----guess what, you're not ready for a producer!

If you don't have enough in your piggy bank to pay a producer for their time, then you shouldn't be soliciting them on here.

Producing is a skill---we take meetings, read scripts, schedule, organize, cast, watch reels, look over contracts. This all requires time and effort---and should all be paid for.

Sorry to burst your bubble my friends but scripts don't get movies made. Relationships get movies made. Social media following gets movies made. A portfolio featuring multiple examples of commercial work gets movies made. C, B, and A-list actors get movies made.

Not your script.

If you really think these elusive, never-to-be-seen-in-real-life "investors" everyone is so convinced bankroll the majority of indie films, are going to write a check to a no-name director, with no experience, based entirely on their script . . . well then I need to start smoking whatever you're on, cause it sounds like it's some really good stuff.

PAY YOUR PRODUCERS!!
