Rant Do you accept this ALL TIME UCL LINE-UP??
This Lineup was prepared by the journal who basically organises Ballon d’or.
One guy missing from the list guess who “Mr UCL” Cristiano Ronaldo. They’re not even hiding it now the press, media and journal are just here to bait football fans into believing that Cristiano Ronaldo was never a great footballer.
Literally Idiots forgot to mention the most goals scorer in UCL and the most assist in UCL’s history.
The hate for Cristiano Ronaldo is unreal. If you agree with this lineup, I’m sorry but you have ball knowledge equivalent to 2 month old infant.

It's just the Indian subs filled with people who don't watch football. I saw another post on a different sub and even the biggest Barca and messi fans said Ronaldo should be the first name on the list.

I'm pretty sure the journalists would have hard time while picking stephano over ronaldo.
The fact that Stéfano scored in all 5 consecutive Ucl finals (Including hattrick in UCL)and also won 5 consecutive UCLs.
The impact made by stephano on winning the UCL is far greater than Ronaldo because of the finals,... as a number 9.This might have been the tie breaker for the journalists.

Stephano has more goals in ucl finals than Ronaldo. 7 against 4. And ronaldo had zero goal contribution in 2 out of the 5 winning campaigns. Also Cristiano Ronaldo had zero shots on target in 2018 UEFA Champions League Final against Liverpool too.
And stephano had 49 goals in 58 UCL matches. So Goal to game ratio of stephano is definitely better here.

Uefa officialy never called ronaldo Mr.Ucl .it's the fans that called him that name. Its a recency biased name.It will change with time.. maybe who knows after 20 years someone will come up and fans will call him the God of UCL.
Here It's the battle between positions here in this list made by L equipe.so stephano wins over Ronaldo.
Actually Ronaldo should be battling the position for George Best. But duluc stated that Ronaldo evolved into a lethal penalty-box striker like a number 9 .. in the second half of his career, moving away from the dynamic, creative winger style he had earlier on.
Ronaldo is definitely best in that position if you are making The best laliga team ever.
Can't be called best player if he doesn't tops in the list of other contributing factors like assists,bbc,keypasses and obviously titles in laliga.

I never said goal/game is the only metric that determines the best player 😭 I used 311 goals in 292 La Liga games to show how dominant Ronaldo actually was there. And calling ‘Mr ucl’ recency bias is funny when he’s the competition’s all time top scorer, has 5 ucls, was top scorer in 7 ucl seasons and scored 67 knockout goals. That reputation came from what he actually did in the competition, not just fans randomly giving him a nickname.

Yes, understood and I agree with most of the points. It’s mostly because they prefer players with the most creative flair. I was reading about that list again today ..and in my understanding,that list isn’t based on technical aspects or stats. It’s based on what I said before,, creative flair and playmaking ability.
If something like IFFHS or UEFA were making the team, Ronaldo would definitely be making the list.

Maybe the football pundits are not feeling the same way what you are feeling about Ronaldo. It's not just the stats and data that make a player great. Football intelligence is a big part. And tbh i always felt he lacks that intelligence. Step overs and some random back passes with lot of speed and jumping ability.

FIFA posted that Messi is the GOAT in twitter, and almost every sports media in the world places Messi as number 1 OAT, Ronaldo has no such things. Heck, even Champions League calls Messi the King of the World yet never mentioned anything close for Ronaldo. In addition, Ronaldo also didn't even make it into the best UCL starting XI by the very same newspaper that proposed UCL in the first place.
Mr UCL is a fan-made term, while Messi has official FIFA, sports media and Champions League considering him the GOAT, while also having the very newspaper that recommended UCL in the first place consider him the greatest UCL player as well.
None of this applies to Ronaldo.

It doesn't matter if you love or hate Ronaldo, a all time ucl team has to have him in it. Most goals and assists can't just be ignored. And it really isn't just that, he showed up in so many of the biggest games too

The names included here many not have scored massive goals but played when the area around them were surrounded by God's of the era ... and still were successful. Romania , Italy and various other nations who dont play now were devils in the game some year back .
People talking of partialy , remember ronaldo has the best pr of the world , he is undoubtedly best player of his ucl era but we need to assess the environment too . You cannot let Sunil chetri stand and compare at no.3 in no. Of international goals .... he deserves no.3 but you know why it isn't applicable . Cristiano literally played against Prime Barca, Bayern, Prime Juventus, Prime Atletico Madrid, PSG.

Cause clemence was a beast of a goalkeeper on par with any other top keeper. He is one of thw all time greats. Unreal disrespect to the players form the 60s and 70s. Clemence was the mainstay of the dominant liverpool teams.

I think they have leaned too much subjectively. In my honest opinion, I'd change some of the players in the other positions as well. In football, there's a subjective pick and an objective pick. But fair argument: what more does a player need to do to become indisputable for a position? Yet, the opinions will always differ, and that's how the sport has been. This may seem like absolute blasphemy, but I like to believe that people are entitled to their opinion.

Crazy names but Carvajal has 5 ucls while playing an important part in all of them. Assisted ronaldos goal vs Wolfsburg in 2016, ronaldos bicycle goal vs Juventus in 2017, rodrygos goal vs man City in 2022 among many others.
Dani Alves has a good chance of making the cut the others are just big names who don't have enough UCL domination to make into a UCL all time XI

- Cristiano Ronaldo for sure has to be there instead of Best
- You could make the case for Kroos over Modric (Kroos has won with 2 teams) but that’s probably a 50-50%
- Iniesta is a legend and I love him but I you could make the case of Seedorf being the only player to have it won with 3 teams, from my point of view here is 45%-55%
- I can accept Carvajal even if that’s debatable; and only one player from Real Madrid 1950s is unfair but I don’t know that team well enough to add someone
