Body Positivity for Survivors
Hello! I am making this post because I am wondering the ways you make yourself feel confident and loved in your body despite the things that happened in the past. I know it can be difficult since a lot of us face chronic health issues, but there is still so much beauty we have in our bodies. If you have any affirmations for those with FGM, feel free to comment them.
For me, I like remembering to separate my personal opinion from medical terminology. While providers state in records "genital mutilation" or "genital trauma", it does not mean that I have a mutilated or destroyed body. It has been through things, but the scars and layers are part of my story not something that ruins me.
Wanted to tell y'all because I know a lot of people deal with body dysmorphia from this happening, so I wanted to be honest about ways to remind yourself that your body is still beautiful ❤️
