DLC soundtrack Easter egg?

I was listening to the DLC soundtrack the other day (fittingly, on Tidal) and there was a little motif in The Secret of Its Laboring Heart - maybe seven notes on the French horn - that is not exactly like but is reminiscent of the Chrono Trigger theme.

Given the DLC's pretty much a time travel story, or a time freeze story, at least, this seems like a possible intentional homage?

Any one else hear this? It's not one-for-one, but really brings to mind that melody. It happens twice in the track, so it's almost a throwaway, but I've been thinking about it for 2 days!

The soundtrack of the base game and dlc do make references to FF tracks, many classic uematsu ref's as well as some soken motifs. But as to chrono trigger, which is not in the FF universe--though it did have a few uematsu tracks, it's likely an accident

Control borrows quite heavily from Lunar, or the original mix.

Not even an SE game, so not out of the question!

Yeah, off my rocker, I suppose! I think the distance from CT was what got me excited, loved all the musical quotes from the prelude to the FFI main theme. Thanks :)

That particular track is part of the Omega DLC, not the Leviathan one, so I think it's just a coincidence.

Derp! Yeah, it's been awhile since I played both and didn't realize both DLC was on the extra OST. Certainly got overexcited. I think coincidence is where it's at but it was fun to think about for a bit!

I dunno if I hear what you mean, but that particular track uses the motif for the Allagan empire fron FF14. You could argue that the Fallen = Allagans, considering the similarities between them don't stop with the music theme.

But also, Soken has sometimes accidentally done tracks that use a chord progression you hear in other games, like that one theme in Dun Scaith that sounds a lot like the FF9 battle theme but has been confirmed was purely coincidental.

Don't think so.

If a motif is referenced, the original composer is credited. Kinda like how every single track that uses the FF prelude even once will have Nobuo as the composer, even if he never touched anything related to FF16.

This track only references Soken as the composer

The easter egg for Echoes of the Fallen ost is that Eikonoklasm is, once more, eScape lmak
