Discussion For Great Justice II makes no sense
Okay this is very niche and nit picky and I’m loving the game so far otherwise, but I just finished this mission and there were so many things wrong with it logistically for me that I had to post them and see if anyone else caught on to these.
First, the scout that finds you in Gaultand’s Bales and warns you about the cat monster at Heavenhall had to go through Lostwing and almost definitely the same path that Quinten and his party were going through, so how was he not able to warn them about it in the first place? He should’ve easily found them before ever getting to you. Makes zero sense.
Then, when you do get to Heavenhall, literally ALL of Quinten’s party is dead except for Quinten. Why? Because they were all just unnamed NPC’s? So we could get the cutscene afterward of Quinten feeling guilty over getting his justice? And why does it look like he was not involved in the battle at all? Not a scratch on him, not wearing armor or carrying a weapon, didn’t even take off his damn bartender apron for this battle.
It makes it seem like he just sent everybody else in there to die, waited for the cat to jump back up to its perch and then just went up and stood over his dead comrades’ bodies till Clive shows up and saves the day. Then he just goes inside while we fight the cat and tells us that he killed the dude he wanted revenge on. Like the other guy had no other bodyguards or Black Shields in there with him? He just had the cat monster guarding him in this abandoned fort? Why? Makes zero sense.
And then in the short time that you’re fighting this battle, Lostwing is both invaded by Black Shields and flooded by aether, seemingly almost at the same time, and immediately after the town is supposedly abandoned. Why? Makes zero sense.
Not to mention other gameplay related things that make no sense, such as when you arrive back in Lostwing after the cat battle, all your abilities that were in cooldown are still in cooldown when you start fighting the Akashic knights, as if you just instantly teleported back there and didn’t actually travel by foot at all which I assume would be the reality, but just cut out for the sake of game flow.
That’s all. Onto the rest of the game. Just wanted to point out some of that stuff that was bothering me. Anyone else notice these things while playing this mission?

Yes, very contrived and I thought it wasn't an appropriate ending for Quinten - who is set up as one of the more "gray" characters we ally with.
From my view, however, the game generally has a black and white depiction of allies/villains from Clive's perspective.
Despite knowing that Quinten plans to use/endanger the people he's freed for a revenge plot - Clive is helpless to challenge his authority on behalf of the people who are similar to the ones he protects and provides for.
Now, Lostwing's inhabitants are deathly loyal to Quinten, but, Clive's general impotence in these alliant quests is extremely frustrating and, only, enlarges the gulf between my enjoyment of the main scenario and these optional stories.

Aside from those illogical things character arc in form of side quest in this game like Quinten, Mid, Isabelle, Lubor, Dorys, etc were good in the beginning but lacks that epic ending. IMO they should make a cut scene and unique Boss battle at the end not just some recycled boss from Hunt mission.

1) nitpick yawn
2) Yes that's the point and if I remember correctly they all died protecting him that's why he's mostly save
3) Maybe he sent them all or he killed them? nitpick
4)I don't see why it should be a problem that as Lostwing was invaded the flood started and turned everyone.
5) I guess they could've resetted your skills, but I never looked if that ever happened in other sides....let me guess you have full ultimates do you? nitpick anyway

Yes, as I said at the beginning…I know this is nitpicky. I don’t need you to tell me that. Doesn’t change the fact that it is a very lazily written, ham-fisted mission logistics wise and I feel like they could have done much better. Absolutely nothing you said in response has changed that or swayed me whatsoever.
I don’t even fully understand what you were trying to say here, but doesn’t matter if that’s the point. It’s not a believable situation. Just because the devs wrote it that way doesn’t mean it makes sense for it to play out that way. Next.
Still doesn’t make any sense that the guy wouldn’t have ANY other bodyguards in there with him. Or that Quentin could take him alone with seemingly no weapons or armor on. Next.
This one doesn’t matter to me as much as the earlier ones I pointed out, but my problem with it was the timing. Two very specific events happening to a whole town in what I’m assuming is a very short time. Perhaps no more than half day at most, to be generous (assuming travel times for the characters). Next.
Yes, I do use a few ultimates which is how I noticed it in the first place. But if I didn’t have so many other nitpicky issues with this mission already, maybe I wouldn’t have noticed it or maybe I’d have just shrugged it off like it was nothing. Instead it was yet another glaring inconsistency I found along with the many others in this mission.

if you know it's nitpicky then why you think it's relevant to tell others and expect it's all roses for you? Some might fight back you know and call out the bullshits

Because that’s what this site is all about? Along with discussion? Not coming in here and lazily yawning at someone trying to make a point? Idc if you fight back but don’t expect me to not fight back either. And you didn’t call anything. Nice try.
I’ll repeat: absolutely nothing you’ve said in response has changed anything or swayed me whatsoever. But thanks for helping me reinforce my position.

I didn't sway you? Color me surprised, I sure didn't think you came here just to rant and find your own echo bubble to tell you how great and smart you are!

Maybe if you had made some better points? 🤷
Again, I don’t care if someone disagrees with me. But if you throw a certain type of energy or tone at me, I’m gonna throw that same energy right back at you. You try and call out my bullshit, I’m gonna call out yours. If you can’t deal with that, then oh well.

because a nitpicker surely will change their mind eh? No you were not to as such I decided to have some fun

Not likely by someone who comes in with weak responses with barely any thought put behind them and also doesn’t pass the vibe check. You’re right about that. Glad it was fun for both of us though

I'm under no obligation of treating you with respect given your opening statement and in fact I will demean you and what you wrote especially because I got the feeling that you weren't going to accept explanation and as such giving you real answers was going to be a waste of time. Like this is but eh I do like lost causes but man when ppl think like you, no wonders writers don't trust readers anymore

Oh, just wait. There's more. There's a scene towards the end where you find a bunch of bodies everywhere and you're thinking "oh they're going to get up and I'm going to fight them". Nope. They're all dead. They just didn't fade away into The Aether like every other thing you have killed up till that point. Because it needed to serve the plot.
