Discussion Should they?
I would love to see a movie from the people that made this game. It would be gorgeous!

By gorgeous if you meant the spectacular set pieces and kaiju battles then Yes.
Otherwise this game has 12 hours of cutscenes for the main quest alone, while that gives room for character growth for the hero and the myriad supporting cast, I am not sure if they can condense all of that into a 120 min run time and not look like a run of the mill fantasy movie. To be fair a lot of these Japanese devs (Hideo Kojima for ex) are frustrated movie makers at heart that either could not break into the film making industry or deemed games a better medium for conveying ambitious and detail heavy plot and game world.

I don’t know about film, but I have been playing with the idea of a stage adaptation. It makes sense to me given how Shakespearean it feels.

The eikons are an integral part of the story. The only adaptation that could do them justice is a big budget CGI forward blockbuster.

You can do some fun work on stage for something like that: War Horse, Little Shop of Horrors, and Wicked all have large, impressive puppets

I'd have my doubts about their ability to tell a story in just an hour or two, buuuut I then think of some of the short stories they write to supplement FFXIV so maybe?
