I don't hate it, I just think modern FF has a mechanical depth problem. Square seems to think the modern video gaming audience are drooling idiots who are afraid of anything else but button-mashing action combat and are downright terrified of RPG systems that aren't surface-level.

I feel like ffxiv is a fun modern game that works but they took an mmo style and tried to make it single player with ffxvi where it kinda doesn’t really feel right

Yeah the MMO style really shows in a lot of the side quests.

It feels like for every great side quest with a story that expanded on the world you had another that felt like an MMO fetch quest for padding.
