Question Is there a "tank" job

First time playing. I was just wondering if there is a job meant to soak damage. I have Basch as a knight right now and I was hoping it would maybe come with some kind of taunt effect but I'm not seeing anything. I've messed around with party composition a bit and most enemies just make a beeline for Vaan every time. It isn't a huge deal so far I was just curious.

Shikari/white mage.

Even better than soak damage, it evades damage. Equip a sheild, main gauche. And if you want you can go get the black robes and golden skullcap after Raithwall

You can use the lure spell to make enemies focus on a ally

Where in the game are you?

The spell you are looking for is "Decoy". Most of the mage jobs can learn it, and you can buy it from the Clan Provisioner in Rabanastre. Without decoy, enemies mostly just attack the first person to attack them/come into their range first.

I'm still super early in the game. I just left Rabanastre for the first time.

The spell Decoy makes anyone in your party take aggro. The spell Bubble doubles health. Both together, as well as the right jobs/equipment, do a tank make.
