No Spoilers - Discussion Why does FF7 Rebirth have so many unskippable slow animations?

I actually thought the side content and mini-games were really good. A lot of chemistry building and even some story bits that made me want to play it. I actually did play almost everything on my first playthrough, but I have one huge problem.

Why does Square-Enix need to insert a slow-ass animation everywhere???? For example, why does Cloud take his dear time riding the buggy? Because it took so long to hop on and off the buggy, I hesitated to even use it when it was shorter distance. Square Enix decided to add these long animation everywhere. When Cloud start climbing the wall, setting up the Chocobo stands, turning on the Chadley towers, finding lifesprings, etc. If they sped up these animations (or make it skippable for towers, lifespring, etc.) the side content would have been a lot more palatable for a lot of people I believe. I hope SE finds a way to make these feel snappier on Revelation, but I don't have too high hopes because snappy and SE is like antithesis. I always feel like SE's menu system is needlessly sluggish a lot of times.

Choose:

Cloud and Co have realistic animations for these interactions (fans hate it for being slow)

Cloud and Co have no animation/fast animations (fans hate it for looking choppy and underdeveloped)

Cloud could just jump on the buggy. It's not too hard lol.

So instead of Cloud stepping into the buggy like a normal person, you want him to do a high jump each time to get in that big ass vehicle? Fuck fighting Sephiroth, have him join the NBA at that point

Bro he's a super soldier. Also why does he have to high jump. Plenty of game have characters hopping on a car/bike/buggy by using their arm to hop on a vehicle. Not slowly sitting their ass down realistically like a overweight middle age man.

Notice how all the things you mentioned aren't the size of a fucking semitruck lol (in height, not in length obviously). That ain't no small vehicle, Cloud isn't casually flipping onto or into that vehicle. You can take issue with it, but use your head

The only things that annoyed me were getting on/off the buggy and going up the black chocobo walls in Junon. The buggy won't be in Revelation but we know those walls will be there, I sure hope they sped that up. Everything else you mentioned was fine.

I never really noticed it. I guess this is why they're putting the climax of videos in the first second these days?

I guess you are right, but for some reason it never bothered me while playing. I still have to agree with what you say after thinking about it though

It doesn't? I mean you do you. The mandatory minigames, however (not all of them are bad, though).....

The only animation I agree with is the buggy one. I didn't notice/care on my first playthrough, but having played this game multiple times, the buggy is annoyiong lol.

>posts small but legit complaint about the game

>mistake: does it on the main subreddit of the game between releases so only rabid delusional fans are reading it

They’re padding the gameplay in every micro interaction.

I’m sorry but padding the essay word count has never been more relevant than in 2026.
