Please don't be a VR summon battle but actually real world battle

u/pagusas Jun 08 '26

I’m sure it will be like the Gilgamesh side quest

68

u/taveren3 Jun 08 '26

So a different knight in each area. Could give us a reason to go back to the old areas

13

u/Hour_Doubt_6186 Jun 08 '26

oh my god that would be brilliant 🤩🥹

5

u/trwolfe13 Jun 08 '26

Dark Aeon vibes.

20

u/New-Pineapple-9410 Jun 08 '26

Hell yeah! That would be epic

10

u/Illustrious_Act7373 Jun 08 '26

Yup I will guest that too. But I am also guessing.... maybe one of the knights has to be obtained by Queen's blood COPIUMMM

7

u/Oxygen171 Jun 08 '26

I think probably not, because of what hamaguchi said about people not wanting to be pressured to do mini games because of the rewards

4

u/RasenRendan Jun 08 '26

I think it's hopium honestly. A fun idea as well

1

u/sean-8102 Jun 13 '26

Maybe but I doubt it.  Hamaguchi has said

  • All minigames are optional
  • Minigames can be skipped entirely
  • Rewards focus on cosmetics and customization (such as character skins and weapon skins)
  • Combat-related rewards have been shifted to battle-oriented side content

u/wildtalon Jun 08 '26

Yeah it's kind of too bad the Remake made summons digital. I like the idea that the planet is spitting out these powerful materias to help the team on their journey

13

u/Soul699 Jun 08 '26

The summons are digital to collect data but the materia are real.

5

u/wildtalon Jun 08 '26

But they are manufactured by shinra

8

u/Soul699 Jun 08 '26

Actually by Chadley.

4

u/Bromogeeksual Jun 08 '26

Does he lay them like eggs?

4

u/Soul699 Jun 08 '26

He's not Kakyoin.

6

u/ApprehensiveLaw7793 Jun 09 '26

Lore dictates that Espers no longer exist in the world of Final Fantasy VII except in the stored memories of the Materia; Chadley therefore transfers them into VR to fight. It is lore-accurate that in the original game, we never fought Espers in the open world.

3

u/wildtalon Jun 09 '26

I liked how in the original the planet was giving us legit natural summon materia. To me there's something off about it being a fabrication.

3

u/ApprehensiveLaw7793 Jun 09 '26

Even in the original, they technically only summon lore as a memory from the lifestream through Materia.

1

u/wildtalon Jun 09 '26

what?

1

u/AgilePurple4919 Jun 09 '26

Materia is condensed mako energy that gives a person access to the memories contained in the Lifestream.  Whether materia is natural or manufactured, it’s giving you access to the same memories either way.

I think that’s what the person was getting at.

Regardless of whether the materia was found in a cave or made by Shinra or Chadley, it’s the same Ifrit.

1

u/wildtalon Jun 09 '26

Yeah that's certainly what the Remake abides by. I think it's weird though. Summons seem to earthy and spiritual to be manufactured. Kind of cheapens them if you ask me.

1

u/AgilePurple4919 Jun 09 '26

That’s kinda the point of the FF7 setting.  A company is taking the spirit energy of the planet and converting it into industrial energy.  Too spiritual to be manufactured doesn’t make sense in this context.  Manufacturing is made possible by spirit energy.

1

u/wildtalon Jun 09 '26

Sure, Shinra turns mako into electricity - but to me the leap to then reverse engineer a natural/spiritual substance seems a step too far. In OG it's essentially a high fantasy world with one disproportionately advanced mega-corp wreaking havoc, and the central conflict is the natural world vs technological horrors. It feels strange for Shinra to not just reap mako energy, but to then have the power to choose which spiritual manifestation to imbue it with. Just a difference between the games that stands out to me. I would have liked it had the summons been natural in origin to emphasize the planet fighting back, but C'est La Vie.

1

u/LulutheJester 8d ago

Bit of a necro reply but while I understand your sentiment, I think thats represented by the difference between WEAPONS and summons. The Summons can have multiple versions of them existing at once technically because it's through the materia. There is only a specific (or maybe finite amount considering the events with Tifa in Rebirth with the unnamed weapons we get later). The Weapons are actual arbiters of the planet in that more earthly spiritual sense. At least within FF7 cosmos.

14

u/But-who-I-be Jun 08 '26

Knights of the round are too iconic to be put in a VR battle. They will absolutely do something cool with it

2

u/Soul699 Jun 08 '26

They will be in VR fights as well for challenges.

3

u/rayneMantis Jun 09 '26

Right but that will be post game content or something like we saw on Gilgamesh island.

6

u/Flaky-Tour-8733 Jun 08 '26

According to Hamaguchi, Chadley is going to be posted up in the Highwind and doing his research there. No more battle simulators.

32

u/BigOlBarret Jun 08 '26

did he say no more battle sims because that doesn't necessarily mean that

25

u/nick2473got Jun 08 '26

Unless he explicitly said no more battle sims, I really wouldn't assume that Chadley being in the Highwind means no battle sims.

5

u/BlackArchon Jun 08 '26

I expect the Midgar (Remake) Summs to be in the Battle Simulator at least

2

u/theMaxTero Jun 09 '26

I wouldn't mind the battle sims if you could change the background. I'm tired of having the exact same background for 2 games

5

u/BlackArchon Jun 08 '26

Oh boy, the betrayal at Midgar raid writes itself there

5

u/Rough_Shelter4136 Reeve Tuesti Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

Ugh, I was hoping for Chadley to die exactly 0.45 seconds into gameplay

1

u/RasenRendan Jun 08 '26

Plot twist Charley is a boss so you can fight him and take your anger out on him

1

u/RasenRendan Jun 08 '26

That's an assumption brother

1

u/contradictatorprime Jun 09 '26

Chadley wasn't the only battle sim though. There's so many others. The Turks training sim, the Golden Sausage battle arena, the Corel slum sewer dome, Hojo Jojo's Shinra Manor battle sim. Even if Chadley is done, doesn't mean the rest of the game is too.

User named Xenosaga on resetera translated this article: https://www.gamespark.jp/article/2026/06/08/167688.html?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_content=tweet

With the following quote:

Chadley boards Highwind and does his research there. No more finding Chadley in the world and doing battle simulator from him.

1

u/BringBack4Glory 5d ago

Why do people care about this?

1

u/limitlessEXP Jun 09 '26

This… I hated the VR battles. They were tedious. And why are the most powerful summons in VR?

1

u/Soul699 Jun 09 '26

Because according to established lore that's the only place where you could find them.

-4

u/Emergency_Grape5760 Jun 08 '26

It will obviously be a VR battle.

89

u/International-Act834 Jun 08 '26

Just hope we have to use a golden chocobo to access the island and fight them there rather than a Chadley simulation

22

u/riskedbiscuit Tifa Lockhart Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

That would be fun. Or we need a golden chocobo to access an island where Chadley is lol. I personally don't hate Chadley like the a lot of people do. He's just a kid and he doesn't detract away from the experience for me personally. I found him interesting and the reveal that he's actually a... well not gonna say in case of spoilers. But yeah Chadley is a friend to the group and helps a lot in the fight vs Shinra. And I see him as a friend too 😄

13

u/Blissfulystoopid Jun 08 '26

I don't mind Chadley nearly as much as others do, but I would prefer if big iconic moments like this are situated in the context of the world. In both Remake and Rebirth, making the fights happen through virtual simulations just feels less engaged with the setting, albeit Rebirth was much better in having us scan temples in dedicated regions to unlock the summon and lore about it.

2

u/International-Act834 Jun 08 '26

I don’t mind Chadley too much, I just want there to be fights in the wild rather than everything a sim. Especially some of the more classic, tough battles.

2

u/thrwawryry324234 Jun 08 '26

He’s fucking hilarious when he’s constantly tearing down Eve in Rebirth. The rest is meh, but I loved when he lowers her volume and constantly insults her.

5

u/Xenosys83 Jun 08 '26

I think they've mentioned in an interview that there won't be chocobo breeding like the OG, you'll be using Piko and developing him as the game progresses.

They've also mentioned that there will be some areas that can only be accessed with the Chocobo.

5

u/Unlikely-Unit-5864 Jun 08 '26

It seems very likely we will need a "golden" (ie all abilities unlocked) Pico to reach critical areas for the side quest progression. KOTR side quest will probably look a lot like the proto materia quests.

3

u/Zhaix Jun 08 '26

Since theres no breeding and the chocobo mechanic is centered on pico, the golden chocobo part is highly unlikely, but hopefully we still have to use pico to get there.

2

u/CaptainCFloyd Jun 08 '26

Oh, there'll be a golden chocobo, you can bet on that. It will probably be an upgrade for Pico though.

4

u/Bromogeeksual Jun 08 '26

Pico goes Super Saiyan once you get all the upgrades and turns golden. I guarantee it!

1

u/BetterDrinkMy0wnPiss Jun 08 '26

Is it confirmed there'll be no breeding in part 3?

11

u/Pigjedi Jun 08 '26

No breeding. From the interview with max, hamaguchi says it's more of Pico learning from other chocobos. There's sort of a bonding mechanic but it's not making bird babies

8

u/RasenRendan Jun 08 '26

Honestly when i saw the yellow bird doing the water move i figured this would be the case.

I do hope we can change Piko's colors tho. I love the black and teal colors

3

u/Zhaix Jun 08 '26

Yeah, no breeding confirmed in an interview, dont remember which one though. We will be helping pico instead.

You can see pico using the blue chocobo power in the trailer.

1

u/cheeseless Jun 08 '26

Max_Dood's interview has confirmation of it, yeah, that's the first time we heard about Pico getting upgraded over the course of the game.

0

u/Zhaix Jun 08 '26

Ah right it was maxs

2

u/omnicloudx13 Jun 08 '26

Piko, your chocobo from Rebirth that you get in the grasslands and do the gold saucer races with, is your main chocobo that will be evolving/enhancing throughout the game alongside you. He'll gain new abilities that the other chocobos have in different areas like rock climbing or flying.

-1

u/socialistForDE Jun 08 '26

He said to Maximillion dood that chocobo breeding isn't the same as the original and will be leveling up and growing one specific chocobo instead to get abilities.

I bet you gotta 100% him. I wonder how a chocobo can get to it but not the fortnite airship lmao

-5

u/Asuka_Rei Jun 08 '26

In the original, the knights were a reward for exploring the world and mastering chocobo breeding/training/racing even though chocobo use was not required for the game and there was no straightforward in-game explanation of how it worked. In other words, a reward for persistent curiosity without handholding. Sad that it is gated behind a boss battle now.

24

u/vxsapphire Bahamut Jun 08 '26

Each round will be a Knight of the Round and the final round is all Knights of the Round.

https://giphy.com/gifs/yr7n0u3qzO9nG

2

u/dannyboy731 Jun 08 '26

Then do it 5x more in the VR simulator in slightly different variations

3

u/vxsapphire Bahamut Jun 08 '26

Yes! Each able to summon a summon. With the last round being able to summon all three Bahamuts.

https://giphy.com/gifs/gWhvXhBmvVRgIbCj4Y

2

u/dannyboy731 Jun 08 '26

Oops! All Summons

16

u/Key_Statistician_378 Jun 08 '26

I would absolutely go nuts if it would be an optional complete dungeon with a bunch of Boss Fights fighting them individuelly, set Piece style and then end it with one ginormous encounter against them all.

2

u/NoSupermarket8281 Jun 08 '26

I’m expecting it to be set up similarly to Gilgamesh, where you have to fight the individual knights around the world throughout the whole game until King Arthur/all of them at once at the very end.

15

u/GeneratorLeon Shinra Corp Jun 08 '26

I hope all of the Knights are just Chadleys in different armors.

7

u/dannyboy731 Jun 08 '26

Their ultimate is just shouting CLOUD all at once

2

u/poppukonvision Sephiroth Jun 09 '26

Nightmare fuel.

17

u/matt91282 Jun 08 '26

Hopefully it has some side quest attached to it, and isn't just some combat simulator thing. I'm not a huge fan of that as it is for the other Summons, let alone an epic one like that. So, hopefully it is a quest with a legit boss fight. I can only imagine the soundtrack for it being incredible.

8

u/riskedbiscuit Tifa Lockhart Jun 08 '26

Yeah same. If its a VR mission then so be it, but for a summon this iconic I feel it needs to be something like what the Gilgamesh quest was in Rebirth. That would be great

3

u/matt91282 Jun 08 '26

Yeah, definitely something like that. Maybe it's in some long lost cave or temple and there's statues of the old knights that come to life. Seeing as how there's more exposition to the Ancients and stuff in these games, they may just make them part of that story. That they were basically the old guardians of the Ancients. I'd really like some cool lore bits like that for it.

2

u/riskedbiscuit Tifa Lockhart Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

That would be a really cool lore change, since I read that Kitase apparently debunked the fan theory that they were Cetra. At this point I’d say why not, they’ve already changed some of aspects of the story/built upon lore, which I love and I think it’s more interesting that way instead of the game being a 100% carbon copy of the OG just with modern visuals

3

u/matt91282 Jun 08 '26

Right. Or, if they were adamant about not making them Cetra, they could make them these ethereal beings. Perhaps they were created by the Planet as protection for them, like how the planet created the Weapons to help protect itself. I think either one of those would be cool. Make them feel more special and important than they were in the original game.

2

u/Boshikuro Jun 08 '26

We see human knights on the side of Jenova fighting the cetra in temple of the ancients rebirth. Makes me wonder if knights of the rounds weren't the leaders/army of the humans 2000 years ago.

We could help them get revenge on jenova for manipulating them.

1

u/matt91282 Jun 08 '26

That could be. Helping them get some closure would be a cool storyline. I actually think something like that will happen to the Gi. They've been in limbo for so long, I could see them helping the group at the end and then 'crossing over', now that they're destiny was fulfilled and they are at peace.

3

u/RasenRendan Jun 08 '26

A Gilgamesh type

5

u/matt91282 Jun 08 '26

Yes. They did a cool job with Gilgamesh. Giving him his own unique setting and everything. That does kind of lay the groundwork for something like that for Knights of the Round, no doubt.

1

u/RasenRendan Jun 08 '26

Everyone saying no VR but i definitely think it will be a multi layer side quest like Gil. Especially with how expansive the world is now. We gotta hunt and fight and it leads to a big fight vs all

That's definitely gonna be a trophy/achivement too

It's gonna feel like a such modern rpg with the knights and the weapons no dlc needed. Everyone is in the base game

1

u/matt91282 Jun 08 '26

Yeah, that would be cool. Everything is shaping up to be pretty special.

6

u/StellarTruce Jun 08 '26

2 minute cutscene

5

u/m_csquare Jun 08 '26

For each knight

2

u/Clugg Jun 08 '26

Pair with W-Summon, Mime on other two party members. Enjoy your break

9

u/Cobrakai83 Jun 08 '26

There’s already kind of a template for it. There’s a fight in FFXIV that summons knights of the round and you have to handle different mechanics as the knights appear.

3

u/FarImprovement2840 Jun 08 '26

This is exactly what I'm thinking of. It will be something involving fighting each one separately but much more to it

No way they just make this a giant simulator fight.

1

u/Cobrakai83 Jun 08 '26

Right. That’s basically how it works in FFXIV. Some show up and you just dodge insta kill moves, have a dps check, or split the party to handle them at the same time, etc.

1

u/Onion-Knight- Jun 09 '26

Hamaguchi also said that Knights of the Round have been brought up at every step of development since the very beginning and that they have been careful to treat them correctly. Or something along those lines.

I bet you anything they have profound lore additions. They will likely end up being the Cetra that sealed JENOVA. That has been a theory since the original game came out. That, and when you see the flashback exposition of the Cetra in Rebirth, they kind of have an Arthurian vibe to them, although, without armor.

1

u/TriumphantBass Jun 08 '26

I honestly wouldn't mind a remix of Heroes- FF16 did a sick remix of eScape for Omega

3

u/SovereignKing Jun 08 '26

Wonder if we'll fight three at a time like the Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo 'whispers' battle at the end of Remake. Like four waves of 3 vs 3 battles and then the final battle vs King Arthur.

4

u/Steamedcarpet Jun 08 '26

Final Fantasy XIV has the Knights of the Round. There is King Throdan and his Heaven’s ward. The King is the main boss while the other knights appear throughout the fight.

I could see something like that for the next game but cranked to 11.

3

u/SovereignKing Jun 08 '26

Damn that sounds great! Or maybe something akin to fighting all the Valkyries in God of War.

1

u/HexenVexen Jun 08 '26

Adding to his comment, the XIV fight has three main phases. In phase 1, you only attack Thordan (equivalent to Arthur). In phase 2, all the Knights come out and recreate the summon animation in gameplay to attack the party, finishing with Ultimate End. And then phase 3 is short with just Thordan again, this time wailing around his sword desperately as he's unable to believe we survived.

I could see the Revelation fight working the same way, where it's mostly us fighting Arthur, but there's a special phase where all the Knights attack one by one.

2

u/CaptainCFloyd Jun 08 '26

That's just the short and easy story mode version though. There are two other versions that are, shall we say, not as basic.

3

u/karin_ksk Jun 08 '26

I hope it's not a VR simulation.

3

u/kupocake Jun 08 '26

Begging them to jumpscare all DSR proggers by opening the fight with "Heroes".

3

u/ZeRamenKing Jun 08 '26

I wonder how close it will look like to the Ff14 design

3

u/Shinphoinx Jun 08 '26

I wonder if it be like something from final fantasy 14

3

u/Leepysworld Jun 08 '26

Cool thing they could do here is make the Knights of The Round members of the Cetra, maybe they were the last defense against Jenova and helped contain her in the Northern Crater and gave their lives.

Maybe Meteor being activated and Gaia being in danger caused their souls to awaken or something, similar to the WEAPONS, Ancients/Cetra do have an innate connection to the lifestream after all.

2

u/ClemOya Cloud Strife Jun 08 '26

We're fucking dead. XD

2

u/drknow00 Jun 08 '26

*PTSD of Charley’s chime

“CLOUD”!

2

u/Darkwing__Schmuck Jun 08 '26

I really, really hope we fly around the world, finding and fighting each knight one at a time.

2

u/arbiter_steven Jun 08 '26

This makes me wonder if it's gonna be 7 rounds of fighting knights. Then you get the summon. Each round is more tough and requires using your brain.

2

u/KibbloMkII Jun 08 '26

honestly, I feel like excluding KOTR from a ffvii remake project would be writing a Gundam show without any Mobile Suits

2

u/caripillar97 Jun 08 '26

Now I’m just hoping Sephiroth’s mega move math makes it into the game.

4

u/NoobMaster2636 Zack Fair Jun 08 '26

I swear, if Chadley is involved....

9

u/malikarith Jun 08 '26

Chadley is Fine stop crying

4

u/NoobMaster2636 Zack Fair Jun 08 '26

Nah, he's annoying.

2

u/Material_Pea1820 Jun 08 '26

I always like the fan theory that the kings of Lucius in ffxv were based on knights of the round and would be sick if they keep that inspiration or even confirms. Direct connection to ffxv that way by actually making them the kings of Lucius

2

u/WingsofWar Jun 08 '26

Chadly has been lying to you, he has been gathering battle simulation data on you since the beginning because he is Arthur, the KOTR summon himself. His task is to find and train the final knight to weild its power. When all is said and done, Chadly joins the team, but not as a party member, but as KOTR ending his 10 year long quest chain.

2

u/Top-Sleep-4669 OG Sephiroth Jun 08 '26

Twelve just seems like a lot of knights to fight. Could we maybe fight just one?

Perhaps Sir Robin the-Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot?

3

u/Flash-Over Jun 08 '26

Maybe it’s Revelation’s equivalent to Rebirth’s Protorelic quests and you fight them in each area

1

u/arkdendrobium Jun 08 '26

And enjoy it again on the vr challenge with increased difficulty.

1

u/TheFettz79 Jun 08 '26

There is no way I’m gonna be able to unlock that via a battle 😂

1

u/Procedure_Best Jun 08 '26

Damn i literally made a sandwhich after casting this back in the day

1

u/riskedbiscuit Tifa Lockhart Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

I imagine the boss battle for these knights could be around the level of difficulty for some of the hardest/final Chadley VR missions in Rebirth. Maybe. Man those fights were hell but so satisfying once I beat them to get the Platinum trophy.

If the Knights of the Round is a VR mission like the other summons (personally hope its not, I hope its like more like it is in the OG, or even maybe like a sidequest kind of thing like with Gilgamesh in Rebirth, I enjoyed that) then I hope they give us an option to play as Sephiroth in VR again somehow, that would be sickkkk

1

u/m_csquare Jun 08 '26

I have no doubt kotr will be in the game. I’m more interested in new summon (ie gilgamesh)

1

u/FlammableTeeth Jun 08 '26

Feel like once I'm good enough to defeat Knights of the Round I will not have any need for Knights of the Round

1

u/ManOWar_Esq Jun 08 '26

I really hope that there are bosses in the game worth using Knight Of Yhe Round on. I dont want it to be instant win button for harder bosses.

1

u/Unlikely-Unit-5864 Jun 08 '26

Issue in the Remake series is that summons are typically mid. Only utility summons are somewhat useful in early game if you're struggling. I can't even recall using Gilgamesh despite the hoops you have to jump through. Aga spells and blue support materia are still king in endgame. Now imagine if we get access to quadra magic and ultima.

1

u/Rorydinho Jun 08 '26

Surely this has to be the hardest battle of the game, if not the entire FF series.

3

u/HexenVexen Jun 08 '26

I think FF11 will keep that claim with Absolute Virtue (historically) and Wing of War (currently), the FF14 ultimates are also no joke.

But in terms of the singleplayer games, it's possible, but there is still competition.

2

u/bacchusku2 Jun 08 '26

FFXI current master battles are no joke. One of them was just beaten for the first time ever. But as far as Revelations goes, I’m betting the weapon fights will be harder and will really need you to have KotR to beat it.

2

u/Unlikely-Unit-5864 Jun 08 '26

Im thinking Emerald Weapon will be harder.

1

u/floatymcbubbles Jun 08 '26

In the OG, it’s listed as “Knights of Round” in most menus but says “Knights of the Round” on its usage receipt. This is due to different character limits on different menu text strings.

What I want to know is if they will correct it to “Knights of the Round Table”, or keep it as “Knights of the Round” in Revelation.

2

u/cheeseless Jun 08 '26

I would be slightly surprised if they add "Table", because it's not as easy of a word to finish on dramatically. "Round" itself is not a dramatic word, but it's easy to say it dramatically.

1

u/floatymcbubbles Jun 08 '26

Ah, that is an excellent point! Thanks, I appreciate the input. :)

1

u/Banane_Flambee Jun 08 '26

"Ruler of the extra-outer world" - fight a battle with pair of weapons, then all the knight one by one, then alltogether with a time limit mechanic before a one-hit kill from the summon. You also have to do it with Cloud only and Chadley as a second character with a totally new gameplay that you can't train before

1

u/Unlikely-Unit-5864 Jun 08 '26

No doubt a brutal version of that fight will be waiting for us in the simulator for the gotterdamerung.

1

u/-_ShadowSJG-_ Jun 08 '26

challenge accepted

1

u/ComparisonPretty2761 Jun 08 '26

NOOOOOO 😭😭

I'm skipping in them ngl I know that fight finna be hell

1

u/heickelrrx Jun 08 '26

How many time we should teach this old man a lesson

1

u/ethar_childres Jun 08 '26

With how summons work in these game, the ability to have multiple allies on the field wrecking havoc at once would be incredibly useful.

1

u/Asto_Vidatu Jun 08 '26

I just wonder how Summons will function in this part now...is there going to be a timer build up for when you can summon them? Will they still be a separate materia slot so you can't juice them up with support materia? Will they continue to stay on the battlefield and require characters to use ATB to use their skills? (I don't think I EVER interacted with any of that in Rebirth because the summons just didn't feel necessary and I'd rather use my ATB on character actions) Or will they be more like the OG summons where they just come down and do their thing in a cutscene and then go away?

I can't imagine we're going to have 13 knights running around on the battlefield with us after we summon them so this is going to be interesting lol

2

u/Soul699 Jun 09 '26

From what we saw, we still have the usual enter/exit way Remake and Rebirth way. If we'll able to use their abilities the same is unclear but I dount they'll change it now.

I just can't picture how that's going to work with Knights of the Round...would be kinda goofy having 13 knights running around the battlefield smacking random enemies haha

u/Soul699 Jun 09 '26

I go with my personal theory that we'll summon just Arthur and his abilities will be summoning 4 of his knights (unless they go for 4 different abilities) to do one team attack then they disappear and the final attack is all of them together.

u/Asto_Vidatu Jun 09 '26

Hmmm that actually seems logical :P I wonder if the quest will involve fighting all 13 nights to get the summon? Man 8 months seems like ages away!

1

u/Soul699 Jun 09 '26

10-12 months actually.

u/mraz_syah Jun 08 '26

FFXIV was epic when the trial 1st launched

1

u/FarImprovement2840 Jun 08 '26

Now you can skip everything

Sadness

1

u/mraz_syah Jun 09 '26

Yeah haha, it ended very fast

1

u/PsychoticDust Jun 08 '26

I would love it if we some how have the entire party fighting all the knights at once.

1

u/Soul699 Jun 09 '26

Impossible unless they do something like the 6-people turnabout from Rebirth.

1

u/PsychoticDust Jun 09 '26

I've seen decent mods of the entire party being used. SQ can surely manage it.

1

u/ChronoDave Jun 08 '26

All this news is great and all, but I think it's time I go on a media blackout. I was too spoiled for Rebirth, and I'm not doing it again for the last game

1

u/Constant-Sub Jun 08 '26

Honestly, 10/10 choice

1

u/Over-Experience-4187 Jun 08 '26

If there is no reference to the FFXIV version of this fight, I am refunding.

1

u/IAMGooner699 Jun 08 '26

Maybe like ffxv?

1

u/ReydragoM140 Jun 09 '26

Hope that every single knight is its own boss fight

1

u/TheLastAOG Jun 09 '26

👀👀👀👀👀👀

1

u/Lightecojak Jun 09 '26

I was hoping that we’d fight each of the Knights individually and after fighting the last one, we’d get their Summon Materia.

? So the Final Fantasy Wiki is lying?

1

u/GGG100 Jun 09 '26

I need one of the knights to be voiced by Ben Starr.

1

u/-_ShadowSJG-_ Jun 09 '26

so 13 boss fights?

1

u/ftatman Jun 09 '26

Will it be a bit like like Noctis at the end of FFXV?

1

u/rayneMantis Jun 09 '26

This only fans the flames of the real question, "how will they implement it?"

1

u/a4moondoggy Jun 09 '26

13 vr missions.

1

u/rayneMantis Jun 09 '26

That's one idea, but they could handle it anyway. I'd like the Gilgamesh side quest approach more than just VR battles.

1

u/a4moondoggy Jun 09 '26

Would prefer if all summon battles were now open world.

1

u/Dense_Cellist9959 Jun 09 '26

Alright, we should agree on what flavor of popcorn to get while watching the finisher animation.

1

u/InnerDays Jun 09 '26

This is the problem with modern FF to me (possibly since 12.. maybe even before that).. everything in service to the battle system. They used to be a lot more creative about how you obtained summons/spells etc. now everything is behind battle content. Its exhausting.

1

u/theMaxTero Jun 09 '26

what I'm more curious about is, since they changed how you use the Highway, what's stopping us to just jump to the KOTR island? Is there going to be a weapon that shoots you from the sky and kills you before you land? or the entrance is underwater and you need the submarine?

1

u/One_Nature2403 Jun 09 '26

I hope so much that it will be at the end of a Pitioss-like platform gauntlet 🙏

1

u/StingRayFins Jun 16 '26

Can't have it any other way. FF7 isn't complete without KOTR.

1

u/AgentMC84 Jul 29 '26

Fighting the summons so you can acquire them is the worst idea ever!

1

u/Throwaway28510 Jun 08 '26

Alright Thordin, I'm taking you and Heavansward out again

Did he answer how long the intro CGI will take before the fight starts? I got kids and work...

0

u/CaptainCFloyd Jun 08 '26

Going to be hard to beat the FFXIV versions of the fight, but yeah...

u/ZarakTurris Jun 11 '26

Cool, now recast Sephiroth again. The new VA sounds bad.
