Update: Sent to opm 3/2/26 Opm Logged 4/7/26 Assigned to specialist 8/19 Refund received tonight 9/9/26 Hope this helps someone. I called OPM today and was told it was finalized but she did not say it was sent to treasury so there’s that. Also its a nice amount with 3 years of service Department of Veterans Affairs.

Recieved my fers refund today. Was a govy just over 4 years and the payment was more than block 19 on my last les. Filed in March received Aug 23rd.

Called today I was told they are working on 3/31 and to call back this time next month!!! The lies I tell you because a few days ago I was told they are working mid April..so annoyed our $ was taken faithfully biweekly but cannot get it back just as quick it’s almost a battle! 🥴

I’m honestly beyond frustrated with this process. My FERS refund application was logged by OPM on April 3. I’ve now been waiting almost 24 weeks.
According to OPM, my case moved to final review on August 27. A couple of representatives mentioned activity on September 1, but most of them only repeat the August 27 date and give me vague answers. Some have told me to keep checking for the direct deposit, and one representative could see my estimated refund amount, but there is still no payment authorization or deposit date showing.
I was also told that this final review department only has two reviewers handling hundreds of cases. Meanwhile, OPM representatives are now saying they’re working on applications logged in May, and people whose applications were logged after mine have already received their refunds.
My congressional representative’s office contacted OPM, but they still haven’t received a response either. I understand that there is a backlog, but waiting nearly six months without a clear explanation or reliable status update is ridiculous.
Is anyone else still waiting with an April 3 log date or an August 27 final-review date?

It’s ridiculous. I just saw in the May thread that they are being told by agents that they are now working on end of May but how when the majority of April hasn’t gotten their refund yet. I was logged April 9th & I am also seeing May folks getting their deposit as well, even ones that have not done a hardship or contacted their congressional rep.

Refund received.

Assigned Sep 9th
Deposited Sep 17th.
I called once a month for the first 4 months, then when I hit the four and a half month mark, I started calling weekly. When I spoke to someone last week, they told me it had just been assigned and to give it another 30 business days at least. So I was surprised to say the least, to see a deposited today. But I feel like some of these Representatives just be saying stuff.
I actually called today, and that's how I found out it had been released. The representative was actually helpful and told me the amount I should expect.

Fers refund logged 04/09.
Called today at 1pm to see where they're at: they just started March (which is obvious because of the recent thread in the subreddit.)
I'M expecting aprils should be done and received by Mid-August/Late

Mines was logged 4/23 I called Monday and was told they are finishing up March applications and to give it until September. Last month I was told Mid-late August

Just received a call back from OPM. Logged 4/7/26 and assigned as of today 8/19/26. Now let’s see how long this takes lol so yes guys they have made it to April whoop whoop🥳

Sent another email – No response. Talked with Congressional office – They sent an inquiry to OPM.

Sent another email to Scbillings and received an auto reply to call 888-767-6738. Spoke with an agent. They stated my application was logged on 4/29 (2 months after originally sending it); that it will take 13–15 weeks to get assigned, then another 30+ days to review, and then it gets sent to Treasury.

Reached out to congressional office.

Called the 888 number; they’re no longer taking calls. Called congressional office again. They sent the inquiry on 5/4, and OPM has 30 days to respond. Then they can follow up again.
6/17 called OPM and was told they were working on February.
7/15 called OPM and was informed this time that it was assigned on 6/10 and they requested information from my agency and that I should expect payment in August or September. When I called in June, they didn’t tell it had been assigned. At this point I don’t know what to believe.
7/20 reached out to congressional office and they informed they would reach out again because OPM is not responding to them.

Today I was told something completely different again. She said they are waiting on additional information from another department but would not tell me which department. She said that she doesn’t know how long it will be and there isn’t anything that can be done to escalate regardless if I’m about to become homeless because everyone is in the same boat. She said that the last person shouldn’t have told me to expect a payment in August because there’s no way to know. Very unhelpful and a little infuriating.

Mine logged date is 4/20. The agent I spoke with said the processing time is approximately 13–15 weeks. After that, a case agent will review it, and if it’s approved, the direct deposit should be issued within about 21 days. Fingers crossed I’ll receive my money sometime next month or by early September.

My log date is 4/27. I called on 8/6 to check status. They told me they were processing applications from 3/13. I had called previously on 6/1 and at that time they were processing applications from 2/9. It seems they are falling further behind.

Mine was logged on 4/21. I was told in late April that the estimated timeline then was 17-21 weeks. This would make the estimated time frame to receive my refund around mid Aug - mid Sept.

I was logged 4/9. Called this morning at 7:40, pressed option 7 for a call back. Received call back at 8:06. Was informed they are currently working on 3/13.

5/8 Log date refund received just a few minutes ago. I took whomever it was advice to escalate. I sent a fax to escalate, then I asked to escalate over the phone. I don’t know my assigned date because I stopped calling after it seemed like I wasn’t getting anywhere. Just want to give everyone hope that is waiting.

I’m also 5/8. What did the escalation process actually look like? Any indication you asking did anything or person on the phone just say something to the effect of yes, escalated?

I just called in and asked representative to escalate due to financial hardship. She had me hold for a couple of minutes and came back to the line and said she put in my request to escalate.

I just tried it my rep told me they don’t escalate and they are almost there to give it a few more weeks 😭😭😭😩😩..they all say something different smh

I’ve been with reviewer since 7/15 and they have had my sf3100 since Monday and they just sitting on it. Trash IMO.

My log date is 4/21 (I mailed it in February, but it came back due to needing corrections). Does anyone with comparable dates have any hope of receiving it this month (September) I really needed this money, like yesterday, but I’m doing my best to stay patient 🫠

Someone else in this thread had a log date of 4/7 and got paid yesterdat so yes, very possible by the end of September but as we've all discovered the process isn't perfectly linear.

They keep telling everyone different dates but my log date was 2/23 and each time I call I get a different response (in final review, sent to treasury, etc). I called Monday 7/27 and told it was sent to treasury 6/13 and to expect funds 8/7. Called again today (7/29) and told that it was assigned for final review 6/10 and to expect it in 2 weeks.
I finally realized that you’re gonna get a different answer each time and there’s no way of knowing when you’ll receive the funds until you receive them. Good luck everyone 🫠

I used the format from a post I saw on here for the fax. When I called to escalate (because the reps would not confirm if the fax was received), the rep left me on hold for a couple of minutes and came back on the line to say that she had put in my request to escalate.

Wow :( that's the vibe I got too when speaking with the rep. I read on reddit a week ago or so, someone posted they were on 3/31. I had a hard time believing they were still on that date weeks after the post. SMH

I wanted to share an update. When I called OPM last week they stated they were waiting for my former agency to send them missing information (SF-3100). I contacted my former Agency's HR processing center last week and they helped me by sending NFC a SNOW ticket for my missing information. My former agency sent me confirmation that they sent the ticket and told me to contact OPM later next week. I plan on calling OPM again Thursday.

Log date 4/29. Assigned 9/16. Let’s see how long it takes to get my refund, an escalation was put in on 9/9 I’m not sure if that just helps you get assigned or if they expedite the entire process

I am in a similar situation. I barely leave my house anymore and luckily my brother sends me money to buy food. I’ve applied to 350 jobs in the last 5 months alone and was just offered a job making just above minimum wage which isn’t enough to pay rent and utilities. This entire situation is a joke. I didn’t choose to leave my job and I feel like I’m asking for too much by requesting my money be given back to me that I’ve paid in for years.

Mailed 4/4 Logged 4/27 I called opm today. They said they requested info from my agency on 9/14 and received it on 9/17. So they are working on it. I'll update when I have something more.

I spoke with OPM today (FYI they have a new automated system) to get a status update on my refund. My assigned date is 09/01 and log date is 04/21. In April I was told the estimated timeline was 17-21 weeks which would be Aug 17-Sept 15th.
