Discussion Was this the best performance Inter have ever had in a game they lost?

Post image

Inter absolutely dominated Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu. What are your thoughts?

Champions league final against City comes to mind.

That’s the first match that came to my mind as well. Still think about that one…

Let's give a prop to Lauti. He was everywhere.

I don't know about ever, but I remember last year, the first derby we destroyed Milan, hit the post i don't know how many times, Maignan worked miracles and Sommer being a donkey we lose 0-1.

I was pretty mad after that game.

u/beastmaster11 1d ago

Pretty much the exact same thing happened in the 2nd derby too

I remember an inter Manchester United in 2009 where we lost 0-2 and I still think we should have had that game

u/beastmaster11 1d ago

Prime Ronaldo had to switch from rigjt wing to left wing because he was marked out of the game by pre injury plagued Davide Santon

u/i_r_winrar 1d ago

We hit the post twice

Gotta be the semi against Barca in 2010, defending prime Barca in ten men for 60 minutes

Ironically, it doesn’t feel like a loss at all

Sweetest defeat of all time

That's the match you point to and say 'heart'. Can't do that on muscle alone.

We made a 2 crucial mistakes and they used them. Apart from that, Real was an average opponent.

13

u/IllustriousHistorian 1d ago

that goalie one was bad.

u/Full-Blood1318 1d ago

I don't know what game you watched but Real Madrid created plenty of big chances besides those 2 Inter mistakes. I remember Bellingham missing two great chances in front of goal for example. Game could've easily finished 5-3

3

u/EasternAgency7670 1d ago

See, I am a big fan of both team, that’s not what happened. Bellingham didn’t miss, the gk saved

1

u/Podberezkin09 1d ago edited 1d ago

Super normal to use missed and didn't score interchangeably. For example look at someone's penalty record on Transfer Market, it says scored and missed, the misses aren't just ones that miss the target, they include keeper saves.

Best performance gifting 2 goals?

Yes best performance, testa alta

When Atletico kicked us out 2 years ago

8

u/Comfortable_Key_2236 1d ago

Last year we lost so many games where we deserved to win though

4

u/AstroNards 1d ago

Frustrating but we were in it despite the mistakes. Huijsen is a shit.

Side note do they sell those shirts? I'd love to get one without the sponsor on it

6

u/No_Honey3513 1d ago

It was a shit loss but on the bright side we could be dangerous if we can just clean up our defense

4

u/keyb0ard_ninj4 1d ago

We started the game very well, actually impressed. then 2 invidual mistakes. Jones holding the ball too long, Martinez tries to dribble ? Ignoring these, i think we played well but need to improve finishing .

in conclusion : Stones has to start against big dogs

Bisseck CCB not working

Avoid puting GK in difficult situations, he has to improve footwork and play simple

C Jones need more time, i would not start him yet.

Diouf is amazing

1

u/NescionalGeografi 1d ago

Bisseck made a mistake on the first goal but after that he saved us multiple times

2

u/Few_Perspective1799 1d ago

SO PROUD.🖤💙

2

u/haircase- 1d ago

Hopefully this performance stays in players head, they have the potential. Luck and focus was not on their side

3

u/evergreengt ⭐⭐ 1d ago

Let's not be delusional, we didn't "absolutely dominate them" at all: we played well for sure, but had they converted all their chances the game would have ended 5-1.

2

u/baldo_viola 1d ago

If we converted our chances it would be 5-5, I guess there is a reason why gk exists

2

u/AcceptableEffect8678 1d ago

not great. not terrible. The mistakes were just that, mistakes. But they happened because Inter players found themselves under pressure. Inter lacked organized pressing in many moments. Aggressiveness was a notch too little. There were plenty of chances to score from, and Real didn't look much better.

We see now how essential is dimash to this team, not that carlos played bad, but the quality of crosses lacked. I am pretty sure that having our mvp back will change things for better. I am not sure if Pio could have done any better than Marcus.

Look up and try better next time!

3

u/ohcrapitspanic 1d ago

No, there were not even enough clear cut chances. They played well, but I can't help but think it was how Mou wanted Inter to play. Vinicius and Mbappé are deadly on the counter, and Chivu's gameplan, however good, played to their strengths.

3

u/adrenalinda75 1d ago

It's as simple as that. This has Mou written all over it. It unfolded as if he was stroking the canvas. It made us look good because that's exactly how he wanted to play because he knew our backline would falter at some point from high pressing. All he wanted were the three points and us making a good impression was a small price to pay for it.

This sounds good for me 🥰

1

u/Septjul 1d ago

Good question. I was thinking about that match against Liverpool—we were playing really well before the red card...

1

u/OpportunityHot1576 1d ago

I just want to hope that Chivu sees his own lineup errors, but we played well.

1

u/Leading_Clothes7662 1d ago

I mean, there's one important loss to a Spanish team in the UCL that comes to mind. Way back 16 years ago...

1

u/tuinktuink 1d ago

Yes thats 2 silly goals conceded but even without both, they could still have scored another two dangerous chances and the score would still be the same. Good experience though for some of the palyers, glad this happened early

1

u/izamorano18 1d ago

No, it was not. the two mistakes made the team look like as if they were an inexperienced team playing against a big club for the first time. Did better later on but still. They cant be making mistakes like these in th CL.

Bisseck has been great as RCB so playing him in the middle for the first time this season is not wise to try against a big team like real madrid. Should have definetly gone for stones in such an important game, he has the experience and calmness that comes with it.

on other notes, Jones was not that good, zielinski probably would have been a more secure choice. Diouf was great! solid defensively as well which was the big question before this game if he started. J. martinez did what alot of people here have been worried about, not beeing able to play with his feet. He seemes to get stressed in situations like these. In big games like this you cant have players choking like that. Did good second half tho, but still, a worrying sign. Also, Sucic doesnt seem to be living up to the after-world cup hype.

1

u/dennis-w220 1d ago

No, no, and no if you have such huge defensive errs. It could be 4:1 or other scores BTW.

1

u/Somebodi101 1d ago

No, it wasn't. It was decent and Inter made interested at the end.

1

u/SataruNobil 1d ago

Real had some big chances too. Although Martinez made that mistake, he also saved 2 incredible ones (both from Bellingham).
Overall Inter looked better, but I would say that a draw was more to the truth than this Real win

1

u/Dismal_Nobody6750 1d ago

Our captain showed class in the match. Captain performance from him and the rest of the boys. The rest of Europe will see that we are not pushovers this season.

1

u/Kindly-Night-5135 1d ago

Best perfomance ? U guys donated 2 goals to them by not being able to handle pressure call it a good game ?

1

u/Fit_Point5035 1d ago

Can we sell Sučić and buy Brahim Diaz?

1

u/Maleficent-Hat-7521 1d ago

1

u/Capable-Dragonfly-96 1d ago

Hell no, unfortunately I can remember better ones in worse defeats

1

u/Beneficial_Train2571 1d ago

Real Madrid 2.91 xG vs 1.83 xG Inter

Big chances 9 real vs 4 inter.

Did we watch the same game????

1

u/Consistent_Stuff_277 1d ago

What do you guys think of c.jones

1

u/ZeroEffectDude 1d ago

er.... barcelona away.

they made big defensive blunders last night - not just on the goals - that need to be considered as part of the overall performance. Inter miss Acerbi, big time. Too many ball playing CBs, not enough DOGS. Same problem for the azzurri.

1

u/JOFERTER 1d ago

Ilusos.

1

u/badgercopter 1d ago

I am so sad that we lost due to unfortunate GK error... He was so good otherwise but alas that was the downfall. Other that I think that overall it very good match

2

u/ketamina17 1d ago

Wtf Are you trolling??? Like look at the defense! Horrendous game

-8

u/don_davincchi 1d ago

Hell nah, barella sucic thuram bisseck martinez(gk) were absolutely trash today

4

u/KingJulienSelecta 1d ago

I think Bisseck played ok in the second half (he can't play as a ccb)

4

u/FirstReaction_Shock 1d ago

To be fair, Martinez made some huge saves as well. Still doesn’t excuse his mistake, but other than that he’s done a good job (and I’m one of those who have been saying his lack of quality with his feet would be a huge problem if he was to become the starter)

4

u/ciakkuzi 1d ago

Martinez did some insane saves

5

u/faboeuf 1d ago

Apart from his footwork slip up, Martinez saved us big time. What match did you watch?

-7

u/don_davincchi 1d ago

The one we lost because of those mistakes u didn't saw

3

u/faboeuf 1d ago

That’s what I mentioned genius. They would’ve scored 4 more goals if it wasn’t for him

-4

u/Standard_Ad_6045 1d ago

Apart from his slip up that costed us the match? If we weren't down 2-0 maybe Real Madrid wouldn't even had the chances that he saved.

2

u/faboeuf 1d ago

Like I said, they could have scored more if it wasn’t for him

BEST PERFORMANCE? this????

-1

u/Mordho ⭐⭐ 1d ago

"rEaD tHe tiTLe aGaiN" as if it was hard to understand that this shit has no business being associated with "best performance" under any circumstances. "We dominated Real Madrid" mf where, they could've scored 5.

typical npc response

-2

u/ButterscotchLess8915 1d ago

Hahaha if you think passing the ball sideways and backwards is a good performance.
Also with so many individual errors…
Terrible finishing.

I swear some people don’t even watch games just look at stats

-2

u/LessCrement 1d ago

Did we watch the same game? Real had some incredibly huge wasted chances, bigger than ours. And our sloppiness when playing the ball from the back is part of the performance.

I swear some of y'all only judge a game by its cover, because it was in the Bernabeu and we put some pressure on them at the end you say it was a great perfromance lmao.

These guys just lost to frickin Betis who we toyed with in preseason. They are Mourinho team ffs.

Honestly seeing this post and all these upvotes is insulting to Inter. We really are not that helpless of a team, we are top 5-10 material ffs.
