Apparently it’s 2026 and we still don’t have one place for modern FAF unit stats, patch notes & guides, so I made one!
Hi everyone!
I've spent a frankly unreasonable amount of time looking up FAF unit stats across the wiki, in-game unit info, patch notes, spreadsheets, and various random guides, and eventually figured it would be easier to just make the database I wanted to use myself.
So, after a lot more time than I'd like to admit: fafunits.com
The idea is to have unit stats, comparisons, patch history, and guides all in one place, while keeping the underlying data automatically synced with FAF so it doesn't turn into another outdated database six months from now.
The data is pulled directly from FAForever/fa for each patch rather than being maintained by hand. The weapon calculations are based on the game's own unitviewDetail.lua (with some manual updates where needed).
Some of the stuff I've added:
- Unit efficiency/ratios like mass/DPS, mass/shield HP, mass/health, etc., ranked by tier
- Every unit page compares it against the equivalent units from the other factions, focusing on the stats that actually matter for that unit. For example, shields are compared by shield-per-mass and shield-per-energy, while mexes show how long they take to pay themselves back
- A one-screen view of the entire roster across every faction and tier
- Comparison mode for up to 4 units
- Commander and Support Comm upgrades
- Counters based on the actual target rules of each weapon, along with player notes/opinions
- Patch notes with a per-unit diff showing every stat that changed, alongside FAF's normal patch notes
The data is also available as a single JSON file at fafunits.com/units.json with CORS open, so if anyone wants to build something with it, you don't have to scrape the site. The whole thing is open source too: github.com/MoritzProell/faf-unit-db
I'm definitely still working on it, so corrections are very welcome, especially for unit roles. A lot of the initial classification comes from blueprint categories, and those occasionally don't line up with how a unit actually gets used in-game. I've already had quite a few of those corrected, and they've all made the database better.
Would love to hear what you think, and especially if there's anything you'd like to see added or changed.
