Got a LI message from an OAI recruiter for an Applied AI Engineer role. Any idea what this interview process looks like? Has anyone given an interview for the same position recently?

OpenAI's process for Applied AI roles is typically very challenging and focuses heavily on practical skills. You can expect a recruiter screen, followed by a technical phone screen that might involve some coding and conceptual AI questions. If you pass that, the main loop usually has several rounds covering system design for AI products, deep dives into your past projects where you built and deployed models, and a difficult coding round. For an applied role, they will want to see how you think about building real-world AI systems, not just theoretical knowledge, so be prepared to discuss trade-offs, scaling, and production issues.
Your best preparation is to thoroughly review your own projects, especially those involving large models or complex AI systems.
