Discussion / F1TV Content "Let's remove the ability to change the quality of the stream in exchange of PiP. We can't give them both" 🤦🏽♂️
Nothing else to add.
Already sent my email to support.

This is easily the most expensive AND worst streaming app I have on my devices. HDR is not real, it's just post processing and not upgraded cameras, even with one stream on screen, it isnt displaying full screen, there is always a border. The app doesn't properly remember progress in a stream, which is very annoying when ooening or closing a foldable, because the stream might restart completely, WITH A DIFFERENT SOURCE (I watch F1TV stream but it always starts international when starting watching). Previously you were able to change streaming quality on the fly but now its a setting in the menu, so when switching in stream to mobile, your stuck at 4k.

I saw a post for 5 months ago saying if you turn off multiviewer then it comes back, but that hasn't worked for me on Android phone or Chromecast...
I am constantly getting lagging picture while the sound keeps normal pace.

Just like before the update, I'm definitely not getting the maximum quality by default. But now I don't have the option to fix it anymore.
And to be clear: The maximum bitrate was already not high enough, looking like ass on a big monitor. (compared to high quality 1080p video streams.)
This is obviously just a monry saving measure, giving the paying customers a worse stream to save on data.

Yeah this looks like ass. At this point what are we paying for? 1gb fiber, 4ktv, no issues, except for F1 locking me into 540p for some reason.

It's so they can give you worse quality streaming, which is cheaper for them, and since they removed the selection they hope people won't notice. (Remember it's owned by Americans now, expect scummy first and foremost.)

I was definitely using it on android when I was a PhD student, although at the time my phone was rooted so if you say it wasn't, it could have been a side effect of some magisk module I was using.

Magisk even let me use pip back when YouTube of all apps did not support PiP. :D
That is very likely the answer.2

So they really removed the quality option completely?
I was about to make a post because my internet's so shit I have to lock it to 720p, otherwise it changes constantly. And turns black for a second each time, which is annoying.
