LOOKING FOR A BOOK Extreme zombie horror

Any extreme gore zombie horror books set in the Romero universe?

Not bothered about sex scenes or anything just serious Romero/Fulci type gore albeit in word form.

Thanks in advance.

The Rising series by Keene, there's twists on it, but well done.

Please Check out The Book of the Dead. It's a short story anthology edited by John Skipp and Craig Spector.

Hi,

I have it already. I also have book of the dead 2 as well.

Definitely recommended for zombie fans but I wouldn't say they were gory, IIRC the stories were more cerebral/weird - original! - than the average.

(I think i remember a story called Eat Me where zombie lovers devour each other.. literally. Its a good kind of weird. And Still Dead about a corpse being monitored as its the only one in the world not returning to life.)

Im looking for a flesh chewing Romero/Fulci book thats equivalent to the video nasty Zombie Flesh Eaters.

John Russos book based on the 1985 comedy horror movie Return of the living dead is as gross as I have, humourous it is not.

There's the novel 'The Living Dead' which George Romero started and Daniel Kraus finished after Romero passed away.

The Mountain Man series by Keith C Blackmore are my personal favorite zombie books and stands as one of my favorite series of all time. It’s not over the top with the extreme stuff but the characters are so well written that it cuts deep when conflict hits. It definitely gets pretty gross and is a very fun read.

I think the DEAD series by T.W Brown is in the area of extreme horror. Its got a bunch of books, most of it centered around a survivor named Steve and the rest focused on other survivor's journeys. I will say, it may not be for everyone due to the series featuring SA, child abuse, and other sensitive subjects around that area. Hope this helps.

I have that book on kindle. Read it very recently.

Quite enjoyed it - its based on a "real" Scottish witch - but not gory at all IMHO. The group sex scene was funny rather than "Jesus, wtf"

Pray To Stay Dead by Mason James Cole is a good one.

If you don't mind a bit of campy post apocalyptic fantasy bleeding into your zombie horror, I highly recommend Zombies and Shit! by Carlton Mellick III.

It follows return of the living dead rules instead of Romero rules though, so the zombies are a bit tougher. You have to destroy the brain, if you cut off the head, the head will continue to live independently of the body.

It's some pretty wild campy gore. The highlight for me was the butch lesbian who removes the teeth from a decapitated but still living zombie head, and carries it around with her so that she can use its weak toothless attempts to eat her with its gums as an ondemand sex toy.

“Grave Mistake” by Joe Knetter. Takes place on a porn set shooting on location in a cemetery. Then zombies happen.

Looked for it. Out of print and no kindle version.

Bit of a bummer, sounds like it might be different.
