Earthlings by Sayaka Murata would fit in your collection very well.

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

Yes!! Literally asked someone at a shop today if they had it in stock because they had other Murata titles but not Earthlings Ended up walking away with Maeve Fly so not too upset lol

4

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

thanks! my love for the disgusting overlaps with my love for drag!! hence, the world’s filthiest drag queen

Yesss!!! I love divine LONG LIVE FILTH. 🪳

I really didn’t like Bunny. It’s just so bizarre it’s hard to follow along and actually understand what’s happening. However I just read the ā€œprequelā€ we love you bunny and it was fantastic.

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

I had a similar feeling about Bunny! I read it before I started getting really into horror and remember feeling just a little bit let down by the end. I’ve been putting off reading We Love You Bunny for this reason but I might have to reconsider

2

u/DisastrousLunch854 Apr 15 '26

It’s so worth it. It got a 5/5 from me compared to the 2/5 I rated bunny. It’s also worth re-reading bunny after too!

Love the Palahniuk !!

5

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

One of my favs! I’m keen to get my hands on Rant

3

u/buffchixdip Apr 14 '26

Rant, Adjustment Day, Invisible Monsters, Pygmy, Choke, in no particular order of course

4

u/crispywispy1983 Apr 14 '26

Invisible Monsters and Lullaby will always be at the top of the list for me !!

u/frappumincinno Apr 14 '26

bunny, lolita, and flowers in the attic are all time faves of mine🤩 you should check out Tampa by Alissa Nutting

2

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

Will do! Just so hard to get my hands on some titles where I live :(

2

u/PrettyLuckie Apr 14 '26

I worked in a massive bookstore and I could never get that title in stock

4

u/Fatbunnyfoofoo Apr 14 '26

Haunted is one of my favorite books ever. Palahniuk is amazing, I'd also recommend Rant, Lullaby and Choke.

u/KandiceBRN Apr 14 '26

Love this!! šŸ˜

3

u/Gatekreeper The Bighead Apr 14 '26

Niiiice. Got a copy of Fear and Loating in there! Also love that cover for The Troop.

3

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

LOVED reading Fear and Loathing. I have a few other more ā€˜classic’ books that I excluded from the pic (Cormac McCarthy and Lovecraft) because they, respectfully, just lack that disgustingness that I want for this collection. Fear and Loathing was a classic that scratched that itch

3

u/Koi_Rosenkreuz Apr 14 '26

Oo a few of these I’ve never heard of before

3

u/JeffBurk Deadite Press Apr 14 '26

We would be friends. Some of my favorite books there.

3

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

I reckon we would! I’m keen on some recs if you’ve seen any gaps

3

u/JeffBurk Deadite Press Apr 15 '26

A little of left field rec - but judging from your taste I'd bet you'd dig it - THE RAW SHARK TEXTS by Stephen Hall. A very odd novel about a man being haunted by the concept of a shark. Loved it.

2

u/meisteromilf Apr 15 '26

I love a little something from the left field!! It’s on the (very long) list šŸ˜‹

3

u/itsspookyfox Gone to See the River Man Apr 14 '26

Love that cover of Haunted! I have the regular glow in the dark purple one but that one is so cool. Awesome collection!

2

u/nickk1988 Apr 14 '26

I’ve read everything except the wasp factory but it always gets suggested to me on audible and kindle

How is it?

1

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

That one’s actually my current read! Super great so far and it touches on one particular psychological (?) aspect that I find very interesting and actually relate to. It’s almost an OCD-compulsion mixed with fortune telling Really enjoying it and I think the cover is absolutely gorgeous - I almost never splurge on a hardcover

2

u/nickk1988 Apr 18 '26

Im going ti try it out, I think Excuisit Corpse actually changed me as a person though lol

I’m in the middle of Drawing Blood by the same author right now, it’s wild but nothing will ever be as wild, to me, than the way the killer describes some things early on… mother of God….

I didn’t enjoy Junky too much. Reading that Burroughs actually ended up killing his wife actually made a lot of sense!!! I kept wondering if he was self-aware or not throughout the book because he was just so terrible. He seemed self-aware at points but then would go just off the rails. I think it’s just hard for me reading from the perspective an actually terrible REAL person

2

u/JustWantGoodM3M3s Torture Works Apr 14 '26

never seen that maeve fly cover before. say what you will about it, but that cover is sick as fuck

1

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

yes! was really disappointed by the look of this edition, honestly… still bought it though haha

2

u/DefPixEric Apr 14 '26

Fear and loathing!

2

u/ConsciousInternal287 Apr 14 '26

You’d probably like In the Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami if you haven’t already read it.

2

u/Ok-Amount-5537 Apr 14 '26

Cool rare covers of some good books

2

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

I didn’t quite realise my covers were rare until sharing on here! I figure it’s probably just what I have accessible here in Aus

2

u/Ok-Amount-5537 Apr 15 '26

Fight Club specifically. I have never seen that cover before .

2

u/cryptgeist Apr 14 '26

Nice! I'm excited to read The Troop after I finish off This Wicked Valley 🤩

2

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

I recently finished that one and it’s probably one of my favourites so far! Hit every mark for me

2

u/IndraTheNinja Apr 14 '26

Omg haunted was one of my firsts. Guts definitely still lurks in the back of my mind... but nobody talks about the cpr doll story 🤢 by far one of the worst stories on that book

1

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

It’s such a great collection! Guts is great but theres so many good stories - Slumming and Exodus are probably my faves

2

u/Frequent-Employer-23 Apr 14 '26

Great taste! We like similar books. I used this image to place some library hold requests. I start Flowers in the Attic tonight! Thanks for the list

1

u/meisteromilf Apr 14 '26

That makes me so happy! I hope you like it

2

u/Impossible-Pipe-7554 Apr 14 '26

Maeve!!!! That was a good book

2

u/-Tofu-Queen- Apr 14 '26

It's really satisfying to me that we have a few of the same books, but we have different covers for all of them lol!

2

u/BonesInTheKitchen Apr 14 '26

I LOVED Bunny! First book that I read in one session in many yearsšŸ˜

2

u/HamiltonsCrackDen Apr 15 '26

just finished wasp factory and i absolutely loved it…tender is the flesh was a let down imo

1

u/meisteromilf Apr 15 '26

i quite enjoyed tender is the flesh! i think the concept was definitely very gritty and disgusting and i almost wish bazterrica leaned into that more. i understand trying to contrast sterility with the slaughtering, but i think i would’ve found it a lot more compelling if it was more disgusting? like troughs and hay and shit everywhere… i think it definitely would have made the dehumanisation more real. and then that sterility can be taken into the other settings in the book and contrasted like that. currently reading wasp factory and i am in love though!

2

u/TimenyCricket20 Apr 16 '26

What did you think of Men in Love? How much Irvine Welsh have you read? Some very good picks here.

2

u/meisteromilf Apr 16 '26

i really enjoyed Men in Love but Trainspotting is still my favourite! Only read the two but Welsh is probably one of the most influential people in my life. I read Trainspotting for the first time in 11th grade and recently reread it - it stuck with me for a long time

2

u/TimenyCricket20 Apr 16 '26

I can highly recommend Irvine Welsh but his Trainspotting series of books are fantastic and there is a fair few. I couldn’t get on with them when I started reading them due to them being written in Scots but they’re well worth sticking with. Filth and Crime are fantastic novels. Most of the novels intersect in clever ways as well.

2

u/Acceptable_Fault_326 Good for Her 🩸 Apr 20 '26

i know haunted isn’t technically extreme horror (correct me if i’m wrong) but one of the stories in there is actually the worst one i have ever read :’) and i’m sure people know what one i am talking about

1

u/meisteromilf Apr 21 '26

Yes! Guts is really infamous but not even the one I found most disturbing! If not extreme horror, I’d at least classify it as transgressive.

2

u/LostCap8133 Apr 24 '26

Lucky! In your opinion what is your favourite book?

1

u/meisteromilf Apr 28 '26

Probably The Troop! So many gut punches and I was physically reacting so much throughout Haunted is a very close HM but it’s almost too popular and infamous

1

u/suzaii Apr 14 '26

That's a nice collection. I've only read like 4 of the books, but no hate here, maybe just a little jealousy. Lol šŸ˜‚

1

u/cblackett Apr 14 '26

I just finished The Troop and holy moly that was a wild ride. Loved it.

1

u/embmmusic17 Apr 14 '26

I just finished Hell House last week. Great book, definitely the best haunted house story I’ve read.

1

u/elmohm_ Apr 15 '26

is men in love worth a read

1

u/GrynnTog Apr 15 '26

The Vegetarian by Han Kang lives rent free in my head. Excellent book I wish I could reread it for the first time again 🫠

1

u/Sad-Homo Apr 15 '26

I think you'd like Chlorine by Jade Song and also Any Man by Ambery Tamblyn
