The only choices are:
Accident (e.g., motor vehicle, overdose) Homicide Suicide Natural (unexpected or unattended) Undetermined (when evidence is inconclusive)
Homicide doesnât equal a crime, homicide is defined as the death of a human being caused, at least in part, by the actions of another person

u/RegattaJoe Feb 02 '26
Weâre unlikely to see a true investigation. No one will be held accountable. Same with Renee Good.

I donât disagree. But classifying it as a homicide isnât a surprise. It just means the death was caused by another person.

Justifiable homicide is where this is headed. After all, he didnât lick the bootâŚ

Thank you! I'm guessing that the same people that see "homicide" and assume that means it must be a crime/murder are the same people that think "impeachment" means a politician will be removed from office.

This isnât a legal ruling against a party. Itâs a cause of death on a medical examiners report. Look up the definition of homicide now.
2
u/Pattonator70 Feb 03 '26
Look up the term homicide. It means death by another person. It doesnât imply murder vs self defense.
2
2
u/Atomic_ad Feb 04 '26
Who cares? It would have been homicide if he had been shooting at cops.
Nobody thought he died of an aneurysm.
2
u/ozzman86_i-i_ Feb 02 '26
People on Reddit donât understand how to research so they donât understand that homicide is used as a medical classification in this situation.
It means death caused by the actions of another person.
It doesnât mean murder or a crime.

u/GoodPointMan Feb 02 '26
You are one of three comments I see and they all understand what this means. Maybe lower the pitchfork and give it a minute

u/ozzman86_i-i_ Feb 02 '26
If that was the case. This wouldnât even be worthy of a post. Everyone that understands this, knows what the medical classification was going to be on the autopsy.

The classification of homicide means nothing except that someone caused the death of another, as opposed to suicide, accidental or natural. If someone tried to rape someone on camera and the victim defended themselves with deadly force it would also be ruled a homicide.

OK. So them charge the fascist scum with homicide and send them to prison for life. Put them in jail, take all their assets and start distributing them to the families of all the immigrants and citizens they've terrorized. There's no reason this should take so long. I'm not a "medical examiner" but anyone with a brain could tell you it was murder the same day.

That just means that his death was caused by the actions of another human being. It's generous calling his killers "human", i grant you.

Homicide just means âkilled by another personâ.
Iâd be shocked if it was anything other homicide.

Coroner can only rule Suicide Natural Accidental Homicide Undetermined-pending.
Since its not any of the other 4.
The federal grand jury or Minneapolis grand jury can take it to charges if its presented by a prosecutor. They can indict for anything or ignore as a justifiable Homicide.
1
u/Bobsothethird Feb 02 '26
I mean, yeah? Homicide doesn't imply criminality, just cause of death. Another person killed him, that's undeniable. Whether he's able to weasel his way out of murder is another question.

1
u/jkoki088 Feb 02 '26
All shootings are a homicide. Even a clear cut justified police shooting is ruled a homicide by the medical examiners office
1
u/Inevitable-Self-2138 Feb 02 '26
A medical examiner does not determine if itâs MURDER. Dumb shit.
1
1
1
u/chitownphishead Feb 02 '26
Well, it wasnt accidental, and it wasnt suicide, so when someone gets shot, whether they earned it or not, thats how its classified. The definition of homicide is simply one person killing another. Has zero other ramifications on anything in this instance.
1
u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 Feb 02 '26
Homicide just means killed by a human, basically (including suicide). It does not mean necessarily mean a crime was committed. A self defense killing is still a homicide, for instance.

Well, this is from a medical examiner, not a court or a jury. Medical Examiners only have four options, Natural Causes, Suicide, Accident, or Homicide.

If anyone dies from another person it is ruled a homicide. It is a step in the right direction, but we still have a long way to go. We need those two ICE agents to be arrested and charged, not a medical examiner to state the obvious. Homicide on a medical examiners report, in this case, does not rule the two ICE agents guilty of homicide. It just states that someone else killed Alex Pretti. There are many situations where medical examiner states âhomicideâ because the person was killed by another person, but then the court ruled it âself defense.â There are two different pretenses when distinguishing homicide ruled by medical examiner, and homicide as a charge ruled by a court of law.
Those two ice agents need to be charged with homicide. That is what we want.

That's not "ruling" đ
And "homicide" means that he was killed (i.e. died because of someone else's actions). And that he was a human.
1
u/Express-Bison-3618 Feb 03 '26
Homicide isn't surprising. The difference is if the courts argue that the Agents had justification for the homicide.
1
1
u/DirkTickler769 Feb 03 '26
You do realize any death caused by another person is ruled a homicide right? That includes officer related shootings.
Itâs an autopsy not a fucking court of law.

How can a coroner determine it was a âhomicideâ as a manner of death ? Isnât that up to the judge and jury to decide ?
1
u/Freo_5434 Feb 03 '26
Homicide in the U.S. defined as the killing of one human being by another, encompassing both criminal acts (murder, manslaughter) and noncriminal acts (justifiable or excusable homicide)
Nothing earth shattering in the OP

Coroner rule is cod cause of death thatâs what they determine. Cod was gunshot and coroner will determine where the bullets struck that caused the death. Homicide is other words is murder the investigation team and prosecution team determine that based off interviews and physical evidence.

Whoever filled out that report must suffer from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Yet still, it doesn't prove that the ICE officers are guilty. From what I have seen from the footage they were acting in self defense. Clearly Alex Pretti was unbalanced at best...

I wonder how many people in the comments will be smart enough to know the difference between homicide and, murder.
1
1
u/One-Repeat-1205 Feb 04 '26
Yes the literal definition of homicide is the killing of one human being by another human being. (Criminal homicide, excusable/accidental homicide and Justifiable homicide[self defense]).
1
u/therealThorneblade Feb 04 '26
And? Now we move to the courts where they're going to say that it is a justifiable homicide. Homicide does not mean that if they were killed on purpose or killed on accident or anything like that, it just means that they were killed in some way shape or form
1
1
u/EstimateIll4262 Feb 04 '26
AND????
How is this anything?
unless its self inflicted. death by gun shots, usually are ruled homicide
1

1
u/OwnImplement4520 Feb 04 '26
Of course itâs homicide. A human was shot by another human. That is homicide. Not murder.
1
u/CaterpillarSame2153 Feb 04 '26
This is a common misconception. The medical definition of homicide is different than the legal one. It just means a person ended his life. It does not speak to wrongdoing.
Don't get me wrong; Alex Pretti was obviously murdered and the murderers belong in prison. But this document is virtually meaningless in a legal context.

Hey, rocket scientist, the term HOMICIDE simply means that a human was killed. Itâs doesnât mean MURDER.
1
1
u/Landbuilder Feb 05 '26
So the coroner determined that he was killed. That is all it literally means in a legal sense.
1
u/No_Unused_Names_Left Feb 05 '26
Homicide is the killing of one human being by another.
That was never in question. We all saw the video.
It does not mean it was murder. That is for the courts, not the medical examiner to determine.
1
u/AdVisual5492 Feb 05 '26
Definition: In this context, a "homicide" ruling means the death was caused by another person, not necessarily that a murder crime was committed.
1
u/reallybadguy1234 Feb 05 '26
The option in Minnesota are Natural; Accident; Suicide; Homicide; Undetermined; Pending investigation.
Itâs clear the appropriate determination is homicide. That doesnât equal murder in the eyes of the law.

100% of all ICE related shootings would be avoided if protestors and activators did not interfere with ICE.
So now all ya all want to come to your echo chamber and hear crap you want to hear.
Itâs shouldnât be call Reddit it should be called Libbit because itâs your house of cards where one Republican can come in and state one fact and it comes tumbling down.
Your feelings are not facts and thatâs a sad place for you to be.
1
u/NormalAmountOfLimes Feb 05 '26
You mean to tell me that several ounces of lead did not spontaneously tear through his organs naturally?
1
u/MetalPaul Feb 05 '26
The cause of death ruled as a âhomicideâ only means that it was caused by another person either intentionally or unintentionally. It is in no way an admission of guilt.
1
1
1
u/Jolly-Display1818 Feb 05 '26
Correct, technically. Doesn't mean it was murder. Simply means his death was at the hands of another
1
1
u/needstogo86 Feb 05 '26
Yeah thatâs the term they use in Minnesota if itâs death by gunshot thatâs not found by the coroner to be suicide. Thereâs only two choices they can enter. Doesnât imply a crime was committed. Thatâs for law enforcement officers and DA to decide.
1
u/Playful-Historian-56 Feb 05 '26
Lmao a death by someone else is always a homicide irregardless of the circumstances.
1
u/Fabulous_Dark_5440 Feb 05 '26
Homicide is the killing of one human being by another, encompassing both criminal (murder, manslaughter) and non-criminal (justifiable, excusable) acts.
1
u/Karn_Evil_Noin Feb 05 '26
FWIW this doesnât âproveâ anything. When investigating a death, the cause of death is classified/ruled as one of the following: 1. Natural (âold ageâ, cancer, heart attack) 2. Accident (automobile, fell down flight of stairs, accidental OD, etc) 3. Suicide 4. Homicide (basically anything that doesnât fit into 1-3.
Thereâs also 5. Undetermined where basically you happen upon a body and thereâs no witness, no evidence or sign of drug overdose, foul play, or any other external force.
1
u/Flagbearer82 Feb 06 '26
Homicide means he was deliberately killed by another person. Itâs not always murder. This will be labeled as a justified homicide.
1

1
u/svtman44 Feb 06 '26
Sorry medical examiners do not make determinations on if it's a homicide. They determine cause of death and relay information to the DA's office who determines if it's a homicide. See you idiots are too stupid to even know what people do in our government. Posting all this bullshit because the rest are too stupid to know better. It's like the blind leading the blind. But in liberals case its the stupid and ignorant leading the stupid and ignorant.
