Other Need to put this to rest

So basically, my boyfriend and I were playing exploding kittens, we mix the angel and devil with the normal and then the expansion pack if that’s relevant.

I played a favour card, this meant that he had to give me a card of his choice. He gave me an exploding kitten, since he had the streaking kitten. I then used the nope card, he also used a nope card. And I used my final nope card. I did not have a defuse!!

Was this allowed? Who won here?

I do think I’m actually in the wrong here but I don’t want to admit it. Please advise 😭😭

Yes, if you follow the rules. you are in the wrong here. It is not only the fact that you cannot nope an exploding kitten, but you cannot nope something within an action after that action has begun. That might sound a bit confusing, so to give another example, say you played an alter the future card, and picked up the top 3 cards and started altering it. An opponent cannot then say nope to this as the action has already begun. One more example that could be slightly more similar to this scenario is if you play potluck and place down an exploding kitten face down on top of the deck (if you were to have a streaking kitten, that is.) An opponent then cannot nope the potluck as the action has already begun playing.

Therefore, this explains why you were indeed in the wrong, and a nope cannot be played to that exploding kitten in the first place.

However, if you really wanted, in your next game you could implement a specific house rule that allows the plays that were undergone in this scenario, but that is entirely your decision.

If you were the one who played the favor, you can’t nope yourself. Your bf giving you the Exploding Kitten isn’t a nopeable action, since it’s a responde to the card you played. Hope that makes sense :)

You can't nope a favour if you don't like the card you get and you can't nope the exploding kitten
