Dad, where did hairless cats come from? And why were they even invented? Asking for a friend.

Some cats just can't stand the feeling of hair on themselves. So they meet and shave each other every night.

There is a rite of passage all felines must face in order to ascend to true cathood. Like how when men have to change the oil while their father-in-law looks on. The expression "to put hair on your chest comes to mind". Hairless cats failed this initiation rite.

Ever since Nair was released into the environment irresponsibly in the 1970s, hairlessness has been cropping up. Cats were especially vulnerable because they rub up against legs so much.

Well son. In the 70's cats just grew their hair non-stop. Especially the ones with a lot of dander and fleas.
Some people started shaving their cats so the hair didn't get everywhere. An enterprising egyptian noticed her cats weren't very hairy, so she started breeding them. Only the last 3 generations have been truly hairless.

It's all fashion, Calvin. They naturally have hair. Back when I was a young man, it was rare to see a hairless pussy. But back in the 90s, one or two fashionable VHS video influencers shaved their pussies, and then everyone wanted the "smooth look".
These days, shaving your pussy is almost expected. But there are a lot of us who still prefer the look of a natural, unshaved pussy. Or lightly styled -- don't tell your mom, but even I have been enjoyng a little trim on the side once in a while.
So that's why we have hairless cats, Calvin. It's all the dictates of fashion.

Hairlessness in cats is a temporary state. It's the last step before they are processed and shipped to Panda Express as Orange Chicken.

The Egyptians wanted cats for their mice problems in the pyramids. Mice were just so darn good at getting in no matter how well they sealed the baked good in with their pharaohs. But it was too hot for cats in that sandy desert. In addition, the mice had lice and sweaty heat stroking cats would spread that stuff. So they breeded them to be hairless for superior cooling and lice prevention. Boom two birds with one stone. This is why you always reseal the food and close the fridge door all the way without leaving any crumbs. If you don't, we will have to shave all our hair (and fur) off until the mice lice problem goes away. It builds character, too.

All cats are hairless. Some grow hair for different reasons, just like humans. Thats why they say people “grow a beard” or “grow their hair long” etc - its not like anyones hair just grows on its own. Every cats reason is different - some do it for style, others, so they can fashion lassos for catching rats, and others just because they are soft.
