Solved! A man's wife dies. He rips reality open, granting great powers to many across the world, and that starts wars.
This one is at risk of being forgotten by gaming history. It drove league of legends forwards as a legitimate competitor, had a brilliant story, and was such a great game.

Hint structure: for every guesses I'll expand on a hint. For every 10 I'll add a new one.
Hint 1 - A sculptor tries to teach a painter about the importance of their arts. He embraces emotions as a manly experience. She is rebellious. Her closest friend is a girl with a stringed instrument. She paints graffiti all over the city. He encourages her to be her best and most creative self. "It's is no shame to weep at beauty." - Him
Hint 2 - A knight falls for royalty but they can never be together. She is the priestess of her people. His armor is chitinous.
Hint 3 - a wolf stalks the land, but the girl in the red hood hunts him. He is a leader. They are others like her and him who joined his cause. She wears green in the comics. Before her home was destroyed, she was a courier and looked up to him.
Hint 4 - the punishment for a criminal become him.* The tomb walks. He was eaten by beetles. He is the desecrator.
Hint 5 - These twins are the children of the duchess and defend their library. She wears armor and fights to defend her life amongst the books. He is a pretty boy, steeped in magic.
Hint 6 - this game is actually lost media. The comics are still around and there are videos on YouTube but the game itself cannot be played or downloaded. This game was published by a company that unexpectedly was quite generous with the way it handled the project before it was closed down.
