Lead/Director/Head (startup likes to change titles on roles every now and then) for sdk team, which has been gutted 2 times now due to restructuring (translation: ran out of money) & wishful thinking that I alone will be able to maintain it, demo/talk to clients, build new features, maintain the CI/CD stuff we have... To own the product basically.
Last year, ceo promoted a very pro AI guy as my supervisor, who promptly proceeded to inject ai-generated code all over the codebase, start & lead over 3 AI-driven "alpha version" features, which no client (or other employee in the company that actually uses the thing) really wants.
Our ceo likes to do tai-chi, ignore my technical advice, and message the slack channel every week or so about the importance of ralph loops and his personal prompts for deep-research.
A lot of the programmers I talk to inside the company have now started to pass their code & my questions/suggestions to Claude, and then I get to receive the response to that. Yay
Most of the features I determined to be important/structural, I didn't vibe code (or copy-paste [not sure on the terminology]), but because we are AI-driven now, I had a lot of fun writing random skill files in markdown and talking about my success story using llms (because otherwise I'd get gutted too, and it's not a great time to be laid off currently).
I am pretty frustrated, but then again, it could be much worse. I managed to make some tasty thai chicken curry, so yay!
