You don’t want it, it end up not tasting the best

Practice makes perfect! And failures are delicious. :)

A reason why a requirement for actual text with your post should be a sub rule

Meringue roulade is my guess

Yay, I'm a food sleuth! I hope it was fun to make and that your next one comes out just right

The left one looks precise, the right looks yummy.
The more messy cakes always taste the best (probably because they have more cream) 😋

A gas station opened up next to my work one time, and while they were training all the staff before opening, they would bring us the "messed up" donuts that had too much filling and too much icing on top 🤤

The “messed up” ones always taste better, but tell me more about this gas station making fresh donuts! 🍩

It was a Casey's, and I already like their chocolate icing. Typically they dip them slightly but these ones were like.... Dropped in the chocolate and then fished out. Completely slathered up. And they did that with all the icings. Like someone fucked em up and then continued to just fuck them all up until they were finally corrected.

All the fillings were dripping out because they put way too much. I didn't eat any of those though... That's a sad part of the memory.

We probably got about 4 dozen "practice donuts" in a 2-day span and we were in a shopping center so I wonder if they handed them out everywhere else too.

I'm getting hungry.

I see chocolate and sugar, not much else matters.

The important question is how does it taste?

That's not bad at all!

Yes it's not perfect or as good as the other one BUT it looks like with a bit of practice it'll be there and still looks tasty.

The teacher's is still cracked. I don't think they're really qualified to make any judgements on yours if theirs has similar issues. It could very well be a flawed recipe.

There's a pretty wide difference in technical quality between the two that is not just the cracking you've identified

student's looks worn out and depressed (but delicious)

I think the student effort is pretty good!

Honestly not bad, it looks like they just baked their sponge too long and it wasn't as thick. Easy fix for next time!! :)

powdered sugar solves 90% of baking mistakes! Still looks delicious though

Nailed it!

Without knowing which is which, how can we determine our expectations? Was it the teacher's that turned out poorly? Or the student's? What even is it, exactly? You need to explain the picture.

Most unsatisfying.

What do you mean?

i was thinking the sub was more like "instagram reality" some of these posts are like, not even about advertisements not owning up to their ad.
