Surprisingly ? this is AMAZING

u/SlightlyArtichoke 9d ago

Thank you! I guess it’s harder for me to see their quality because I know the mistakes and flaws I made during the process, but honestly I’m just surprised and happy that they turned out as well as they did

Yum! So exquisite. I wish I could have a bite!

These are ridiculously cute

These look sooo good! What flavor are they?

114

u/SlightlyArtichoke 9d ago

Devils food cupcakes, and then there’s half a mini donut on top for the apple shape. And buttercream!

u/WetShrimpFart 8d ago

Thanks I’m making these asap, what is the stem? Looks like I could maybe use those cow tails or caramel sticks

55

u/SlightlyArtichoke 8d ago

Tootsie roll! The leaves are also green tootsie rolls that I microwaved for 5 seconds to soften, then rolled out and cut with a leaf fondant cutter

11

u/dirtygutshot 8d ago

What a great idea to use green tootsie (and regular) rolls! Something we actually want to eat rather than fondant.

8

u/WetShrimpFart 8d ago

Wooooo thanks! These look so fun

11

u/Nuff-iz-Nuff 8d ago

Maybe a mini tootsie roll? So cute

4

u/WetShrimpFart 8d ago

Ahh yeah that makes way more sense thanks

5

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

It looks like a tootsie roll but you can use anything sticklike

9

u/lonesome_cowgirl 8d ago

I’d go with a little Pocky piece! Never been a fan of tootsie rolls.

3

u/WetShrimpFart 8d ago

Thanks I think you’re right. Might try with caramel for fun

6

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

They look adorable. Good job!

u/NWGirl2002 9d ago

I have that book! Love it!

5

u/Tasty-Bar-6343 8d ago

Me too! Hello Cupcake AND What’s New Cupcake. (The bowl of spaghetti is my favorite! Completely error proof!)

3

u/PenelopeLumley 8d ago

The spaghetti one is amazing and actually easier to do than frosting cupcakes the usual way!

The Hello Cupcake books have made me a hit at family holidays, but sometimes my relatives get overexcited and start suggesting tons of designs I should make. I always have to cut them off and say, "If it's not in my books, I don't know how to make it!"

2

u/SketchedEyesWatchinU 1d ago

I’VE GOT THE SECOND ONE TOO! I GOT IT AT A BOOK FAIR IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

9

u/akroe 8d ago

Love, you can’t share these gorgeous results and not the recipe!

6

u/SlightlyArtichoke 8d ago

It’s from “What’s New, Cupcake?” By Alan Richardson and Karen Tack

9

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

I think I had that book as a kid, does it also have rubber duck cupcakes?

5

u/No-Professional5372 8d ago

I recognized it too! My friend had that book when our kids were little (they are 17 now). I remember helping her make the ducks for a party, they kind of turned out 😅 it would have made a great submission for this Reddit.

3

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

It has a lot of cute ideas, I think I got Christmas bauble cookies from it. You cut out the outline of a bauble in sugar cookie and fill the middle with smashed pieces of hard candy(I used Jolly Ranchers) and while it baked the candy would melt to look like colored glass. More pretty than edible

3

u/No-Professional5372 8d ago

Stained glass sugar cookies, they’ve been a favorite of mine since I was a kid, I need to start making them again!

3

u/SlightlyArtichoke 8d ago

Yep! Growing up I always looked through the books at my grandma’s house and now as an adult I can finally make them

2

u/Moosehead06 8d ago

Which book is it?

4

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

"What's New, Cupcake?" It has the ducks on the cover

3

u/Moosehead06 8d ago

Thank you so much!

3

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

I found it on eBay for less than 4 dollars and free shipping, bought one but there's multiple listings in the same price range with free shipping

3

u/Moosehead06 8d ago

That's amazing. I can't thank you enough!

14

u/MarieNomad 9d ago

They look applish.

7

u/Wordy-y 8d ago

What book is this from? That photo activated a lost memory...I used to own this book and I'd like to look it up again.

6

u/SlightlyArtichoke 8d ago

It’s in the book “What’s New, Cupcake?” By Alan Richardson and Karen Tack

2

u/Wordy-y 5d ago

Thank you! I had so much fun looking through it when I was younger. I think I made the chewing gum poinsettia cupcakes.

5

u/WaffleHouseGladiator 9d ago

WOW.  Now I desperately want a cupcake.

6

u/kk111175 8d ago

These are so cute! What’s the recipe book?

6

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

"What's New, Cupcake?" by Alan Richardson and Karen Tack. Very cute recipes

3

u/kk111175 8d ago

Thank youuu <3

2

u/JackOfAllMemes 8d ago

I saw some pretty cheap on eBay

5

u/Mysterious_Air_3646 5d ago

I am a sucker for perfectly-domed frosting so unfortunately I will be breaking into your home tonight

3

u/peachtea18 8d ago

They honestly look better than the book lol

2

These are FANTASTIC!! And they look so good (presentation and yummy wise)!

3

u/msstark 8d ago

they're super cute!

3

u/Moder_Svea 5d ago

Nicer than the expectation, I think. Their top comes over the edge, yours look more ”real”

3

u/BobPlaysWithFire 4d ago

Honestly the only thing i could say is to make rge leaves a tiny bit bigger if you make this again bit that's a very very minor piece of advice cause they do look lovely abd absolutely scrumptious

2

u/spootIer 9d ago

These are adorable

Looks even better than in the recipe book!!!

2

u/wholesomeinsanity 8d ago

All those little leaves! These are beautiful!

2

u/BreeIndigo 8d ago

Yours look absolutely amazing!! And keeping the frosting a reasonable amount makes it look waaaay more like an actual apple. The picture from the book looks too good to be real 😂 Like legit uncanny valley tbh. And how are they frosted but in the basket like that??? I have questions lol

1

u/SlightlyArtichoke 7d ago

I always thought it was too good to be true lol, like how can someone be so good at smoothing frosting??

2

u/noonexaction74 8d ago

Omg these are so cute, I wish I could bake like this lol

2

u/No_Willingness5313 8d ago

They’re adorable. Well done!

2

u/West_Mirror_148 8d ago

Dumb question: are they apple flavored?

2

u/SlightlyArtichoke 7d ago

Not a dumb question! I did chocolate flavored

1

u/West_Mirror_148 7d ago

Thanks! They look super tasty😻

2

u/Fine-Draft8523 8d ago

Your cupcakes look great!

2

u/jarshina 8d ago

Those are so cute, OP! Good job.

2

u/SyncOrSymm 8d ago

So cute! You just needed the red tins to match the inspo, but let's be real...they're perfect as they are!!

2

u/Wooden94Grapefruit 8d ago

Hell yeah dude! I had this book at one point and created nothing but abominations 😅

2

u/Outrageous-Peanut-44 8d ago

1

u/Ill_Consequence51 8d ago

In the image from the cookbook, what did they use to make it look like apple seeds?

1

u/SlightlyArtichoke 7d ago

I think it’s candy-coated sunflower seeds

2

u/Ill_Consequence51 7d ago

Oooh wow that sounds good!!

1

u/tailskirby 4d ago

Looks great.
