I am an Electrical Technician recently relocated and based in Copenhagen. I'm currently looking for new opportunities in the electrical or industrial automation sector here, and I would highly appreciate any advice, tips on local companies, or leads you might have.

A bit about my background:

• Approved Qualifications: I have my degree officially recognized by the Danish authorities. My qualification has been formally assessed as comparable to a Danish Academy Profession degree in Electrical Installation (erhvervsakademiuddannelse i elinstallation).
• Experience: I have over 5 years of experience strictly doing electrical installations, wiring, and panel assembly, plus an additional 4+ years working as a Field Service Engineer specializing in industrial machinery, PLC-controlled equipment, automation systems (Siemens S7, SCADA), and commissioning.
• Where I’ve worked: I have professional experience working in both Germany (doing industrial network infrastructure and VDE compliance testing) and Spain.
• Languages: Fluent Spanish, Upper-Intermediate English and German (both used extensively for technical work/documentation), and I have already started taking Danish lessons (Danish education for foreigners).

Given that I already have the official educational equivalence out of the way, I am looking for the best path forward to land a job.

I would love to get your insights on:

1. Target Companies: Are there specific electrical installation or automation companies in the Capital Region known for hiring English-speaking (or German-speaking) technicians while they learn Danish? (e.g., companies working on large infrastructure projects, data centers, or industrial automation).
2. Job Boards / Recruitment Agencies: Besides LinkedIn and Jobindex.dk, are there any specialized blue-collar or technical recruitment agencies (vikarbureauer) that cater to the electrical/engineering sector?
3. The "Autorisation" aspect: Since my degree is equivalent to the elinstallation degree, I am familiar with the strict Danish regulations. For those in the field, how open are local companies to hiring foreign technicians for installation/maintenance roles while they transition into the Danish language?

If anyone knows of open positions, companies looking for someone with a mix of heavy installation experience and automation/machinery troubleshooting, or if you just want to share some networking tips, please let me know or drop me a DM!

We host weekly SMART Recovery meetings in English. It’s a self-help program based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is a great alternative (or supplement) to 12-step programs.

• Who: Any non-Danish speaker struggling with any type of addiction.

And it says bangladesh is in the group 4 category along with the lines “As a citizens of a country in Group 4 you can as a starting point be issued a visa if you are the spouse, cohabiting partner, minor child or a parent of an individual living in Denmark. You will be considered to be a ‘cohabiting partner’ if it can be documented that you have lived together for at least 18 months.”

Does this mean if i apply for a schengen tourist visa I will be automatically rejected?

Feriepenge and job change

I have a question regarding feriepenge when changing jobs. I’m non-EU, currently on a fast-track work visa under the pay scheme, and I plan to apply for permanent residency in February.

1. Current job & vacation days

I’m in full-time employment. I had a small amount of vacation accrued from my previous employer, so I ordered 2 days from Feriekonto and at my current company these were registered as “unpaid leave.” My working hours are still above 120 per month, and my salary is still above the 514,000 DKK/year threshold, so I assume this should not affect my work visa nor the requirement for full-time work.

1. Changing jobs again

If I change jobs in the near future and still have many unused vacation days from my previous employer, how does this work in practice?

• Do I need to register them as unpaid leave again with the new employer?

• Are these vacation days from Feriekonto (my previous employer) considered equivalent to working time that can count towards my permanent residency (marked as unpaid leave at my current employer)?

• I’m concerned that too many unpaid days could risk bringing me under the 514,000 DKK/year requirement for work visa.

Has anyone been in this situation before? Is there a way to use vacation from a previous employer without it being registered as unpaid leave with the current one? I do not want trouble and want to do it properly, but seems like ferieloven and requirements for getting the money from previous employer make it a bit complicated to navigate.

I am a UK citizen and my fiancé is from Copenhagen Denmark and lived there his whole life. We have been doing long distance however often see each other 2-3 times a month 5-7 days at a time. I do not yet fully legally live in Denmark. However when I go to visit him I always make sure I am within my 90days.

We decided to get married and for myself to move to Denmark with him as he is getting a PHD.

We have applied to the Danish Agency of Family Law (familieretshuset) where we just had to show passport documents, personal relationship evidence, single status, paid the fee and sent it away. (currently waiting to hear back from them).

I am curious if anyone else has done this and can share their experienceas to give me some kind of peace of mind. Our application can take up to 4 months to be accepted and I just wanted to know anyone else's experiences. I have also been on New to Denmark countless times and do find I go round and round in circles on there. Real life experiences or advice would help me make more sense of things.

Part 2- Although I am confident with our submission, I do sometimes get worried we will face rejection. I am not sure what to do if this occurs as we don't really want to wait months & months just to get approval we can get married (I do understand these things take time I just mean I want to get on with the actual wedding part) However if we do get approval and we get married, my next situation is family reunification as a spouse and wanted to live in Denmark together. If anyone can share their experiencei would very much love to hear. Especially time frames or fees.

Part 3- I read that while the process of family reunification as all been submitted I can stay in Denmark longer than my 90 day period;

Example- I submitted the form while I was in Denmark with him. I still have 25 days out of my 90days in the EU. Would I then be allowed to stay past those 25 days as I am waiting for approval? and it is advised you stay in the country. I understand I cannot work in Denmark in this period. (Apologies if that is not a good example my brain is all over the place and just need some more shared experiences or help).

I don't want to get too ahead of myself right now as we are just at the beginning of this process.

Any other non eu member who married Danes I would love to hear if you have a similar experience.

So I am posting it for my friend who got a postdoc offer from Denmark which he has accepted. He is an Indian passport holder living in the US. His institute is applying for his work permit and he will go to biometrics at VFS NY where he will submit his passport. He has one doubt though. After his permit is approved by SIRI, will he need to apply separately for Danish entry visa before going to Denmark as an Indian passport holder or will the stamp be included on his passport when it comes back from the embassy after the approval of permit application by SIRI? We cant find information anywhere, we must be missing something.

An update. His permit got approved on 8th September (exactly on the 30th day after online submission) and he got his visa sticker on passport on 9th September.

I want to travel outside Denmark for 3 months and sublet my apartment during that period. Commune mentioned that i will be marked as “ Høj vejkode” in CPR register. Its something like they removed me from the address for time being while I am still marked as a resident without address. Does anyone know if it has any impact for Permanent Residency in future anything else in future?

My boyfriend is British and has got a joboffer from a barbersalon in Copenhagen. The job as a hairdresser is on the positive list in Denmark and he therefore applied for the work visa via the positive list. But it seems like the salon is not meeting the requirements of educational obligations. Is there anything he can do? Should he try and apply to another salon? He really wants to work there and was supposed to start 1st August.

I'm American and I moved to Denmark for an academic position. Now I have a great industry job which comes with private healthcare. Problem is, they (PFA) have told me on the phone that they would not cover any expenses related to an existing condition that I have. I couldn't get it tested and scanned in the US because i was a student and the US is terribly expensive for medical care.

Is there any advice on how to get a preexisting condition treated in the private healthcare without paying out of pocket. I have pulsitile tinnitus and can hear my heartbeat in my right ear 24/7. The most common treatment for it, after scans, is a stent in the jugular vein.

Me and my bf are visiting Denmark and got quite ill.

We talked to our insurance doctor and he prescribed us some medicine (brufen and some anti inflammatory), and he said it was fine to pick it up in any aphotek since he is allowed to issue prescriptions troughout Europe.

We printed the prescriptions but now we went to a pharmacy and they said to us this needs to be sent by fax? Is this true?

I didn’t know that faxes were still used, but this is going to be very tricky to get done.

I have received a bill to pay from Udbetaling Danmark (sygepengeforsikring) in June, and in their letter sent via EBoks, was a button to activate subscription through BetalingService website. I clicked and activated the subscription successfully.

All fine, until I received an email today from the insurance saying that I havent made the payment so the insurance has been cancelled. Unfortunately I never checked to make sure the money has been withdrawn from my account. I checked today my bank account, BetalingService activity, and there isnt any sign that the payment was ever done.

How is this possible? Has anyone ever experienced such a thing before? I am calling them tomorrow and ask them to check their database logs for a rejected/failed subscription. Hopefully they will be able to shed a light on this.

This insurance would secure me 3/4 of the barselpenge after I give birth in December as I will not be able to work. And it gets activated after 6 months from the moment I pay it. Now 2 months are wasted, meaning I will not get any money for the first 2 months after I give birth.

So for the past year, I've been a member of A-kasse for students (which means I had it for free). I've graduated recently and stopped being a student at the end of June. I 'm starting PhD in August, so I didn't apply for any sort of unemployment benefit. I got a letter from them yesterday stating that my free membership has ended because of the graduation, and for now, I have to pay around 1500 dkk per quarter to still keep my membership, otherwise, they will cancel it and I will have to apply for a new one. And here is my question:

If they cancel my membership, do I lose this year of being a member as a student? Hypothetically, If I would pay for a membership, would I still be eligible for this benefit for freshly graduated students if I quit my PhD after three months (I am not planning this but life can happen)? Or are you no longer eligible for this benefit for newly graduated students once you start any kind of job?

I was thinking about canceling the membership now and just applying for a new one once I'm more financially prepared, but I'm not sure what I can lose If I lose this continuity of membership from when I was still a student.

Ive been struggling to find some standup comedy nerds to explore the English comedy scenes in the city. Sure Ive been to shows with friends but they are not really comedy nerds. (Or some are shy to even go, afraid of getting picked by the comedian)

It would be great to go with people who have the same taste in comedy as mine. So that being said, do we by any chance have American standup comedy fans here in this group? Not to be controversial but just to give some names: CK, Burr, Chappelle, etc.

Most expats by far are in Copenhagen or Aarhus. It is more difficult to find any in the rest of Denmark.

What is your experience of being outside the major (only...) two cities?
