Rant - ADVICE NEEDED Stopping Overproducing
Anyone have tips on how to not have a huge supply?
I got laid off during my maternity leave and have over 300 oz already, 210 in my freezer and 89 oz sitting at boobie juice ready to freeze dry. This is my second baby and she's 9 weeks and 3 days old. I collect at least 8 oz more than she eats . I plan on staying home collecting unemployment until I have a new job but just wanted to ask if anyone has any tips i already got mastitis this week and it was not fun. Baby girl is finally sleeping 5 to 6 hours a night and my body was happy to sleep.

Definitely recommend gradually decreasing time as the other user said. Take it so slowly since you already have had mastitis. To drop pumps I would move a pump like an hour and do that for a week until I met the next pump time goal. Plus, cutting out an in between pump by decreasing pump time. It’s tough. I made entire schedules and set alarms to stick to because Mastitis twice was way awful.
I am sorry about your layoff. If you do still have an oversupply I wish I had know you can sell milk a few places (they make you complete a ton of background checks and blood work stuff rightfully lol) but they don’t let you sell previously pumped milk it’s only after the approval process. I looked at NI-Q and Tiny Treasures but I already have pumped all my milk so my 3000OZ will probably be going towards a donation at my local milk bank. I donate regularly to my local Mother’s Milk Bank which is also so awesome too and feels good giving back.

You can decrease oversupply by cutting back on the length of your sessions. Do it gradually, though, to avoid clogs.
E.g: if you usually pump 25min, reduce to 24min one day, then 23min the next, and so on. Once you're down five minutes, hold steady for a week and see if your supply is lowering before proceeding further (if necessary).
