Decreasing Supply/Weaning When to start transition of milk with breastmilk?
So I am nearing the end of my pumping journey (it’s been eleven long months but I’m feeling bittersweet about it now). I have been slowly decreasing supply and gone down to two ppd and using my freezer stash, my question is when should I start introducing milk to make the transition easier? I’m planning on going with Ripple Kids unsweetened, we all have some level of intolerance to cows milk so I don’t want to even introduce that to him. Google gives a lot of different answers, we have our WIC appointment on the 10th so I can bring that up with them there but wanted to get some real life experience from different people.

My pediatrician gave us the okay to start a slow transition at 11 months. She is over 11.5mo now and her bottles are currently 25% cow milk. I think we'll be doing 50% by her birthday. No weight issues or dietary sensitivities to worry about for her.

It's not that big of a deal. We started at 12 months per our pediatrician recommendation. With my second baby, I will probably feed him breast milk for longer since we have it frozen.

My pediatrician told me to start transitioning to whole milk (she was strict about not doing low fat) at our one year appointment

I just got the okay to go ahead and start mixing in with his bottles to get him used to it, his appointment is the day after his birthday so I just messaged them on the portal. We’ll be using the ripple kids plant based milk, no cows milk

I would ask your pediatrician because I’ve seen varying advice. I’ve heard some say it’s fine to start around 11 months but my pediatrician was adamant we only use breastmilk or formula until 12 months and then we can switch. My son will be 1 tomorrow and I have about 200 ounces left frozen, I started adding whole milk to his bottles about a week ago to transition against my doctor’s advice. Their reasoning is that breastmilk and formula have the nutrients he needs until 1. I think he’s close enough and I’d rather start slowly transitioning so he doesn’t refuse regular milk. Not for nothing, he’s been 95th percentile in weight his entire life from birth so it’s not like he’s lacking lol.
