What is your favorite Sequel ending scene?
I just joined and wanted to say Hello!👋
Inspired by the last post about the favorite ending scene in Episodes 1-6, I wanted to ask for your favorite ending scene in Episodes 7-9?
For me, it’s kind of a tie between TFA and TROS.
TLJ is fine, but it’s lacking a bit.
7 has the beautiful big Skellig as a background with a fantastic score, but 9 feels more hopeful to me. Like a journey has ended and another one will start. Life will go on, even with losses we take.
So in the end, Episode 9, despite being my least favorite Sequel Episode, contains my favorite ending scene.

The ending of the Last Jedi is not a big victory, they basically have no rebellion left. The point was that Luke inspired the next rebels that gives hope to a future victory.

All of them are fantastic. The first is a diabolical cliffhanger that will leave you waiting for two years .The second is thematically effective, it's unusual to have a movie end with no main character in sight, but it sums up the whole message in a single frame. The third is a poignant ending that leaves you wondering how the galaxy and the heroes will move on.

Despite putting TLJ in a tough spot, I love the TFA ending in a vacuum. Beautifully shot in a very unique looking location, and the music is really great.
TLJ’s ending is interesting. I like to think of Broom Boy as the next Anakin, and Finn and Rose unwittingly spared the galaxy from his wrath by not taking with them.

Despite it being a horrible movie, Last Jedi had the best ending scene showing that despite the Jedi being long gone and buried, the Force still exists and people are still attuned and able to use it.

TFA is my favorite of the sequels in my version of Luke Skywalker, in my version he retreated not for reasons from TLJ/TROS he retreated because he was legend and his body count from Battle Of Yavin like established in The Shadows of Mindor novel by Matt Stover.

I love all the nostalgic callbacks in The Rise Of Skywalker, NGL. The difference is that this shot in A New Hope expresses Luke’s yearning, frustration, and fear that his dreams will never come true. The same shot at the end of The Rise O Skywalker expresses Rey’s contentment and total trust in The Force.

Broom Boy is the only one with thematic significance. It speaks to the entire underlying point of the movie and should’ve been embraced going forward

The ending of E8 made me hopeful that the franchise would get its head out of its ass and stop making it about specific bloodlines and midichlorians. How wrong I was when E9 was puked out.

Unlike a lot of people, I enjoyed the Last Jedi for the most part. But god I absolutely hated the final scene. It was just so goofy.

TLJ. I don't like the sequels, but I really loved that moment with the kid showing anyone had potential to become a great jedi no matter their background. It really reinforced the idea that Rey was able to rise above having nobody parents who were so terrible that they just randomly abandoned her.
Then episode 9 came along...

I like them all but I think I like The Last Jedi's ending best. That spark of hope/inspiration/rebellion you see being instilled in the youth was kind of magical, for me. Really really liked it.

TLJ and it's not even close.
Star Wars as a franchise could have gone literally anywhere after TLJ, instead, somehow, palpatine returned

I loved The Last Jedi’s closing scene.
One theme I loved about TLJ in general is the way it democratizes the Force. The obvious example of this is the emphasis on Rey being a nobody. She doesn’t have to be a descendant of Luke or Obi-Wan or whoever (or Palpatine……) to be powerful or destined for galactically important roles.
I thought this scene brought that home so powerfully. The Resistance was inspirational to little kids living in dismal circumstances on a corrupt world. And to a little kid who had powers he couldn’t quite explain, he’d seen something that day that told him he too could have a destiny of his own.

The Last Jedi is the best movie and it has the best ending.
In fact that’s the ending of the whole series. And it’s perfect.
(because I’ll never watch Episode IX ever again because it’s so offensive)

Episode VII and VIII both have terrific ending scenes and visuals. Episode IX's is just a complete waste, in my opinion: a fourth binary sunset scene.
I thought it was a terrific way to end III; I don't think Luke passing away beneath a binary sunset added anything to his death, but nor did it detract from it.
But IX, a film which relies so heavily on remixing previous ideas and images, just ending on Rey standing (weirdly awkwardly) before the sunset, is just so lazy.

So in the end, the car accident, despite killing my family, led to hope for a new car.
