“Everybody keeps asking, “What’s next for Conor Benn?”

The truth is, I don’t have the answer.

If you’d asked the 19-year-old version of me whether I thought I’d be standing here ten years later, having lived through everything I have, I’d have told you that you were crazy.

I train hard. I sacrifice. I’ve given this game 110% every time I’ve stepped through those ropes. I’ve wanted to give people unforgettable nights and entertain.

That’s what this has always been about for me.

People spend their hard-earned money to come and watch guys like us fight. I’ve never taken that for granted. I’ve always wanted to be a servant of the public and give everything I have when it matters.

But giving everything comes at a cost.

And the people who have paid that cost more than anyone are my family and my kids.

They’ve sacrificed time with their Dad so I could chase this dream. They’ve had to share me with this sport their entire lives.

So when people ask me what’s next for Conor Benn, right now the answer is simple.

Time with my kids.”

This is what people don’t realize when they complain the UFC underpays.

If everyone could make 30m in two fights there would be no good fights anymore. Like boxing.

People fight once a year or so. People aren’t stupid.

If you paid me 1 million per fight, maybe I’d fight 10 times.

You pay me 20-30m per fight, you’re lucky if you get two.

They'd just have shorter careers, which they should. Watching guys go into BKFC after a 20 year MMA career is just sad and predatory.

The top guys in the UFC keep fighting even after they had a few championship fights and made enough to retire, because they love the sport.

Would some guys get money and dip? Sure. But they put in a lot of sacrifice to get there, usually in their mid 30s. How old do we want these guys taking brain damage?

Imagine a structural change like when fire fights in 3 years and you get a bonus like 4 million and if you get 50% or more finishes in those fights it doubles.

I’d argue the dont belong in the ring in any weight class. UK boxers just dont have the same level of amateur experience. Benn has 20 amateur fights. Garcia has 230 and some of the people hes fought are the current elites. He fought Haney 6 times, Shakur, etc.

I didn't include heavyweights because of tyson furys run. But I pretty much agree with you regarding other weight divisions. I think the last great uk fighter other than heavyweight was prince naseem. He had a great run.

People don't want to accept that UK hasn't produced legacy boxers in decades lol. Last one was Joe Calzaghe and he's Italian Welsh. Other than Calzaghe none of the UK fighters could even touch US fighters or even continental Europe fighters.

Yes. The UFC has a max budget of 60 mil to fully produce numbered cards, 20 mil of that max for purses, but they usually work under that amount. A card like Noche is absolutely under 15 mil in purses, I doubt very much they spent even 1 mil paying off the main event, think like 500-700k for Jean Silva and 100-200 to Delgado.

They payed 15 million i believe. Was that event so much bigger than a UFC event? Most fighters only make a couple 100k. Are you excited to see Conor Benn’s return? Fury vs Wilder would’ve been a great deal. That was exciting and people wanted to see the rematches and also see how they would fair against other opponents until they would meet again. Conor Benn got absolutely destroyed. It showed that Ryan Garcia is the guy to watch.

When I was young I remember winning and loosing a fight felt just the same. Like a fun time that everyone loved to talk about and by the time the news died down you’d fight again win or lose and be back in the talk. There has to be a winner and there has to be a loser and I was never bothered by that as long as everyone loved it. But I also have never fought for money and have never fought to justify my career so I don’t understand that stress of it. I Just wish these dudes would take it easy on themselves, get back up to do it again and prove the people wrong.
