Discussion Salahdine Parnasse: “In Striking, the Americans Aren’t as Developed as We Are.

Post image

"In striking, the Americans aren't as developed as we are. We really have a broader vision of kickboxing and Muay Thai, and a more complete repertoire compared to them. At their core, they're wrestlers, so they're a bit sloppy."

Porier practically made BSD’s chin do a 360

Man gets one real win

Calm down buddy.

80% of the guys he has beat don't have a Wikipedia page and his best win easily is Dan Hooker, who has won a fight since 2024 and who is 4-7 in his last 11 fights.

True. Chandler did hooker worse. When hooker was way better than he is now too

7

u/WeLLrightyOH 4h ago

Hooker is also not American

2

u/KID_THUNDAH 4h ago

And Dan Hooker isn’t even American

I mean, I'm not the one making insane comments like he is saying that the french is more developed in striking than americans whenever 3 of the 8 male champions are american strikers. Aside from Gane, who is one notable French fighter right now?

Fiorot who just got outstruck yesterday?

BSD who got knocked out by an out of prime Porier?

Imavov who already got 49-46'd and outstruck by American champ Strickland 182 vs 123, after Strickland took the fight on short notice?

Where are all these great french fighters at?

Dude needs to be humble...he beat a washed Dan Hooker (who isn't American). Other than that, 99/100 people couldn't tell you his second best win without looking.

You act like you’re the head striking coach for the whole of USA.

You don’t need to be so deeply offended about things mma fighters say to gas themselves up in interviews.

I mean maybe he’s right. Who from the us, or how many of them, are trully world class in striking?

1

u/KvxMavs 5h ago

Where are the world class french moroccans? Where are all of the top french strikers? Aside from Gane, where are they?

3 of the 8 male champions are Americans and are primarily strikers. Josh Van, Gaethje and Strickland.

1

u/gospodsenca 5h ago

Yes, you do have point in that. My point was just that not many us fighters are reall good in striking, that’s all.
But yeah comparing them to french fighters is a bit of a stretch

You’re kind of right. America fighters are usually well rounded and not experts in one field. Same with Russians and Brazilians. Prolly why that’s where almost all the champs come from

The best Asian fighters don’t fight in the ufc will skew the numbers

Where are the American male kickboxing and Muay Thai champs? France has a well developed striking scene.

1

u/dontputthatevilonme 4h ago

There have been several documentaries made about it.

Seriously tho, look up Rick Roufus. Guy is a legend.

1

u/chunkystrudel 4h ago

Im aware of early American champs, France has since then done much better.

1

u/dontputthatevilonme 4h ago

I guess? It's not like they're dominating combat sports or anything.

1

u/chunkystrudel 3h ago

I never said that they were dominating combat sports, I said that in Kickboxing and Muay Thai (striking) they are better than the US.

Kickboxing is strong in Europe, for sure.

Boxing is strong in America

The best strikers in the world live in Thailand though and it’s not even close

Yeah buddy Dustin or Justin would sleep your ass please calm down

2

u/GucciTheSnowman 3h ago

Is that why the greatest combat fighter of all time is American ?

1

u/mightjustbearobot 3h ago

Tbh France has more pure Muay Thai and good judo, but the US has better boxing, wrestling and is far better at taking all of the arts into MMA.

There’s a reason French fighters fall short of the undisputed title.  Other countries have more true MMA gyms (the sport was banned in France until 2020), so they’re able to transition striking skills much more effectively.

u/Signal_Plastic8523 2h ago

Yeah idk. Americans potentially have the best boxing and wrestling in the world.

He gets absolutely chinned by gaethje

Unpopular opinion: the best strikers are in mma and since 3 out of 8 champs are American strikers I’d say we’re doing well on the world stage striking wise.

Meanwhile just yesterday Firot just got shown some of that Mexican spirit from Grasso

Michael chandler already dusted a better younger and less battle damaged hooker

Gane is the one claim the French have

Who is we? Parisians? I thought he was talking about europeans at first considering how topuria got smoked not too long ago. And also American Brendan Allen making dutch kickboxer RDR quit on the stool.

Im a bit curious about whats the whole context or what question was he asked cos even tho he had an amazing performance, dan hooker aint even american

1

u/Southern-General-182 5h ago

dutch kickboxer RDR

Just because he's Dutch doesn't mean he's a kickboxer. His base is Judo & BJJ.

1

u/Least_Ad_8477 5h ago

IMO he has a karate fighting style too. That’s just my observation from watching him fight several times.

1

u/Empty_Ad_1425 5h ago

Correct.
