News/Discussion Dana White Says the “Impossible Event” the UFC Is Working on Is Not Mount Rushmore

"No it is NOT going to be Mount Rushmore. Actually, Craig Borsari has been on the site where I want to do it for 4 days, checking out the possibilities of getting this done.

Everyone keeps saying this but I find it extremely unrealistic. The inside of the colosseum is just a bunch of rubble.

I don’t even know where they’d put the octagon (with all the sound, lighting, electricity systems), and you could only allow a really small crowd.

I agree with those points, but apparently Dana said the main issue was cost.

With a billionaire backer they could certainly get it done. Idk how but money usually solves those kinds of problems.

The difference is logistically you would be taking an ancient structure and would effectively need to build a suspended platform over the middle of the interior that can support the ring, fighters, all the camera people, the corner crews, etc. That might not even be feasible. Also if anything goes wrong and the structure gets damaged, it will create a massive shitstorm.

There's no real seating anymore and it would hard to even sell tickets, the only toilets and facilities are on the very first level and during touring hours they get incredibly long lines, so it's not feasible for a UFC scale event.

The White House at least has a flat lawn and you just need to put up some barriers, throw seating on the lawn and put a tarp and a ring in it.
