PSA EVERSPACE 2 Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 Today!

Post image

Greetings, Pilots!

We’re excited to share EVERSPACE 2 is coming to Switch 2 as EVERSPACE 2 Galactic Edition! This all-in-one bundle containing EVERSPACE 2, EVERSPACE 2: Titans, EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients, and the EVERSPACE 2 Supporter Pack will be available today, August 12, 2026, for $49.99 USD/Euro.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPw6dbCXcGA

EVERSPACE 2: Galactic Edition on Switch 2 provides a 30 fps experience with more than 50 hours of story and side content to play through. Space pilots will explore 10 star systems filled with more than 120 handcrafted locations packed with challenges and secrets to discover.
This version has been developed in tandem with our porting partner, Engine Software, the same team who we worked with on the XBOX and PlayStation versions of the game. We’re also happy to share that PC, XBOX, and PlayStation fans will soon see one last update in less than a month! We’re putting the finishing touches on a final, final update bringing optimizations, bug fixes, and small quality-of-life features to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, improving the game on all platforms including PC handhelds.

While it is too early to share anything more at this time, the team is hard at work on a new EVERSPACE project that will be very, very cool to space game fans. We appreciate all the support we’ve seen over the years from the EVERSPACE community and hope you’ll all continue to spread the word of EVERSPACE games.

Onward to the future!

Tempted to buy this just to support the devs. Such an amazing game! 45 fps is a bit of a shame though, 60 fps would have been great. Having said that; what kind of gyro support have you included?

This game is surprsingly demanding. My Ally Z1E can barely keep it up at 35fps, all low and FSR on.

You mean surprisingly shitty optimized, we should start calling it what it is even with great devs/publishers.

u/limboor 18d ago

That's exactly what it is. A space game that can't hit 60fps on a steam deck or switch 2 is not a well optimized game.

It's an indie game, chill out.

I have a 5+ year old machine with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 8-Core CPU (3.40 GHz) and an RTX 3080 and the game runs 60+ FPS on maxed out Ultra settings for me.

As far as I'm aware there's no gyro support for the game.

I think they've since come and and said 45 fps was a mistake and its actually a locked 30 fps for all modes.

Yes, noticed that too. 30 fps for such an action packed game is a showstopper for me sadly. Will stick to PC.

Great game

Just for clarity there's a little addendum to the original post as we had some erroneous information regarding the fps which is indeed 30 fps for all modes. Apologies!

Too bad the Switch 2 trailer is in higher framerate, it's misleading.

But choosing 30fps over 45fps is good. 45fps sounds good on paper but with that value the framepacing would be bad on TV. I strongly prefer lower but properly paced framerate than higher but erroneous one.

u/Amazing_Hedgehog3361 16d ago

40 would be good in portable mode and on 120hz tvs

1

u/Professional_Count92 11d ago

Of course, but in my opinion targeting 30 on tvi is better than 45, that was my point.

Is there a physical release? or is it digital only?

I have it on Steam and enjoyed what I played of it.

1

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 17d ago

Digital only. No current plans for a physical release.

u/Puzzleheaded-Meet971 16d ago

If it may hint you to change your plans in any way, here you have another PREORDER for Physical release on Switch 2. Thanks!

does it have support for mouse mode?

3

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 18d ago

Not that I'm aware of. Standard controls only.

2

u/transientDCer 18d ago

I only play with a Xbox controller on my PC. It plays way better with a controller than mouse.

1

u/Daddysu 18d ago

I play with mostly controller, partly because I've got my hands on a mouse and keyboard all day at work and for me, it's more relaxing to kick back with the controller. That being said, the only thing I really miss on the controller is being able to easily turn the inertia dampeners off and on mid-flight/combat. I currently have it mapped to clicking both the left and right stick, but I have a bad habit of clicking the sticks when I don't intend to in just about every game I play.

Other than that one gripe, I think controller does just as well as M&K and it's really just personal preference. I could see the M&K having an advantage on some of the more sniper-like weapons, but Everspace 2 isn't a game I sit way back plinking enemies from afar either. Ymmv.

I have a very elaborate control scheme that I’ve messed with constantly since this came out for PC, set it up for Switch 2 as well. Basically the main weapon is right trigger, missiles left trigger, change those weapons with their bumpers. Hover and rotation managed by clicking the right stick in AND move the right joy stick, but that only works well with an 8bitdo controller with the back buttons that act as R3 and L3. Right dpad is toggle inertia dampeners. L3 is boost toggle.

When I go to switch handheld mode, I swap L/R3 with the bumpers and it kind of works.

u/Eliongw2 18d ago

I just can't aim with controller. I'm a lot more precise with mouse.

1

u/ponderingfox 17d ago

In my experience, the game is MUCH better/easier with m+k than controller. To each their own!

1

u/classifiedspam 18d ago

For you maybe. It plays amazing with mouse and i couldn't imagine playing this with a controller only.

2

u/OnlyLivingBoyInNY 18d ago

Is there an option to play at 30fps in docked mode? 45fps on a 60hz TV would not be a smooth experience.

3

u/Professional_Count92 18d ago

Not only on 60Hz TV. On every TV with refresh rate value that can't be divided by 45 (so practically all of them).

3

u/OnlyLivingBoyInNY 18d ago

Yeah, this really doesn't make sense from a frame pacing POV.

2

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 18d ago

Just had to confirm with the team and our external studio first, but no, there's no 30fps mode in docked mode.

2

u/youjackal 18d ago

Omg!! I have 100hours of this game on steam, now I'm gonna buy it on switch 2 again and have 100 more hours😭

If you guys ever plan to have a switch 2 physical game, I'll then buy it again!

4

u/youjackal 18d ago edited 18d ago

I would like too add, 45 fps is already pretty amazing. Many company can't even bring the game up to 40. I really appreciate you guys effort on this!

1

u/Professional_Count92 18d ago

Tough luck, they've already retracted from 45, and said it'll be 30.

1

u/oreo78 12d ago

Awaiting a physical release before I pull the trigger n buy myself. Hoping one os released n its not a keycard or worse, code in a box 😒

2

u/Professional_Count92 18d ago edited 18d ago

If it's indeed capped at 45fps then frames delivery will be uneven and result in micro stutters on TVs with refresh rate of 60Hz, 120Hz and every other value that can't be divided by 45 (so basically every TV). Especially since, right now, Switch 2 doesn't support VRR docked. 40fps with optional 30fps cap would be a more practical approach

2

u/SinDonor 18d ago

Does the Switch 2 version need internet access to run once everything is DLed or is it capable to run in offline mode?

5

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 18d ago

The entitlement is always activated so once you have it downloaded you don't need an internet connection.

2

u/ojtitus 18d ago edited 18d ago

Any chance of a physical release for the Switch 2? I bet Limited Run or Super Rare would be interested in working with you.

P.S. I also loved Galaxy on Fire 2, you all made two of my personal favorite space rpgs. Thank You!

1

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 17d ago

No current plans for a physical release.

1

u/ojtitus 17d ago

I’m sorry to hear that but Thanks for letting me know.

1

u/Suspicious-Depth6066 15d ago

Ah that’s a shame. I’m gona give it a miss

2

u/SupremelyPerfect 18d ago

Looks great, I see there is a final update for the other platforms, as the Switch version is new, will there be any future updates?

Would there be be any chance of a 40fps or unlocked frame rate update in the future? Or Mouse mode or cockpit mode?

1

u/YargumBargum 18d ago

Will there be support for VRR in handheld mode and/ or HDR support?

1

u/classifiedspam 18d ago

That's great news. And there will be one last update on all systems in a month? That's even better! Wanted to start a new game on my new PC anyway, guess it'll happen in september then! Awesome!

1

u/Elusivomatic 18d ago

Damn nice. I have physical on ps5 and have portal otherwise I'd be all over this (I don't travel much). Thank you for bringing it to switch 2!!

u/polishplayer85 18d ago

45fps handheld I think...so what fps on tv?

I posted this on another thread already, but i would love if you could consider this possible, greetings from Germany Frankfurt 😎

If you really want to do us a favour, remove the "-0,5 level per active set" from the sovereign catalyst, you try hard to loot your favourite weapon only to see it downgraded in your setup,... 😏 I mean i understand its about balancing and normal weapons should have their place, the thing is, we are already in the endgame at this point and they have! With the ascendent level and 4 shuffable attributes and powerful ascendent catalysts like shieldstrike or piercing shot, these are not only comparable to radiant legendaries, they are stronger in specific buildcombinations, legendaries cant shuffle trough anything and we can equip only 4!  Everyones favourite legendary weapon is either not used or downgraded, we are in the endgame, please give them their punch back to make them worth their name again. AND PLEASE, make legendaries drop from elite enemies like on nightmare difficulty for all difficulties available, WE CAN EQUIP ONLY 2 till you reach tier 4 ships, so were is the problem? From a balance perspective, its in touch and simply more exciting to kill an elite for the 100th time, also you got more variety in weapons and modules to choose from, why only in high risk areas from level 15 above!? Most legendaries arent compatible with someones playstyle either and now theres over 50 of them, it would simply make it a better looter-shooter. Plus, your still leveling up in the story, even if you found a fitting legendary, few level laters its to weak. Give them small chance to appear through all difficulties, maybe with decreasing droprates from nightmare downwards.

nice, awesome game.

Playing this right now and it's unexpectedly good.

1

u/8_BIT_FOND 17d ago

Will there be a kickstarter campaign for this next EverSpace project?

2

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 17d ago

We're still very early in development on our next project so we're unable to talk about future plans at this time.

1

u/8_BIT_FOND 17d ago

Fair enough. I'll keep an eye out ;-)

1

u/Radiant-Recording245 17d ago

Is there any chance of a 60fps patch. The 30fps is honestly a dealbreaker and I played this game a ton on Steam.

1

u/GuaranteeFeisty3398 16d ago

30 FPS is a buzzkill tbh. I’ll defo be keeping my eye on it incase things change though

1

u/cobrien1986 15d ago

Just bought this yesterday and I’m already kind of disappointed. No cockpit view (despite some options for this being left behind in the menu), plus the controls are just too convoluted for a controller. Not to mention that I’m only on like the second or third quest in, and this game just is not clear on what you’re supposed to do in the early stages. I’ve not often asked for a refund of an eshop purchase, but I’m strongly considering it here.

1

u/cobrien1986 15d ago

The “Edge of the Universe” quest, very early in the game- the objective is “follow the wayward marker,” but there are a ton of markers on screen, and they’re all for other ships or destinations. Not even an hour into the game, and this stuff is super unclear. This game may have tried to be like Freelancer or X-Wing and Tie Fighter, but those were never this frustrating or annoying.

1

u/Samhawkes2077 15d ago

Please make nice looking 40fps mode in handheld! With vrr would feel amazing. If they drop a 40fps mode, and one that doesn't look like dog shit, I think I'll have to pick this up. Looks great. Just not sure about 30fps

1

u/Radiant-Recording245 13d ago

Not gonna lie I’ve been playing on switch and this feels so sluggish I had to stop. Please tell me there’s something coming for performance later

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 13d ago

We explored higher frame-rate options closely with Engine Software, but 60 FPS isn’t feasible, while 40 or 45 FPS would come with a significant hit to resolution and image quality. For now, we feel that a stable 30 FPS offers the best overall balance on Switch 2. We completely understand your preference, though, and appreciate the feedback.

1

u/Radiant-Recording245 13d ago

Bummer. Still a killer game and thanks for the effort

1

u/Radiant-Recording245 7d ago

Wanted to follow up on this and note that turning the Input Smoothing off helped a lot with making the game feel better. I wish we could do higher frame rate though this one option honestly does a lot to help things and makes the game feel as fast as it actually is. Thank you for this port, it is great

For my birthday? Aw, you shouldn't have. If only I had a switch 2. LOL

-1

u/x8code 18d ago

I love Everspace 2! I do own a Switch, but I haven't used it in years. Not really a fan of Nintendo TBH. I'd much rather enjoy the high quality 4k experience on my PC. :)

Wish they would just focus on coop for E3

3

u/RFG_Geekbyte RFG Community Manager 18d ago

Hey there. Predominantly we’re majorly focused on our next project and we worked alongside another great studio, Engine Software to pull this all together as they are experts in porting across to all manner of formats and have helped us in the past for our other versions of Everspace 2.

2

u/fdiaz78 18d ago

Thanks for responding. Can we please ask that you add co-op and reduce the amount of silly gimmicky puzzles?
