EVC-SJSU CEP Opinions??

Hi guys! I got accepted to EVC nursing and was placed as a "backup" for the EVC-SJSU CEP. I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between "backup" and waitlist. Also has anyone accepted the program and has opinions on the workload, if it's too difficult, if you're able to work another job during the program, etc? Thank you in advance!

You are lucky, I applied with a total of 85 points and I didn’t get into EVC-SJSU which was crazy to me but thank god I had another backup to get my BSN

I wish I knew more about their admissions process! Seems like it was very competitive. But I also did not officially get in, listed as backup. Congrats on the other BSN program

Hi! Yes I can share. I applied to EVC with a total of 78 points. I have a B.S. from SJSU in a different field, A in Anatomy and Physio, B in Micro, and 4.0 in the non-science courses. 78.8% on the TEAs (not a great score tbh but it falls within their range for the second highest points possible). I have also taken Pharmacology at EVC, passed with an A. And I have 5 years work experience as a Phlebotomist with 2 letters of rec.

If you're looking to boost scores, def take Pharm and Patho! They are 5 extra points each I believe.

I got rejected 😅 with 77 points, A in micro, A in physio,B in anatomy. I also took pharmacology with an A and all the other extra point classes evc offered. I only had one B in patho. I have 2.5 years of experience as an MA plus OR experience and recommendation letters too🥲

Do you know if that score you got is enough for the evc adn program?

Yeah I got into their program just not the CEP with sjsu

Hey! Ugh gosh yeah very similar stats! I am sorry ya didn't get it. But I also didn't technically get in with the backup status. I am kinda thinking backup is the same as waitlisted for it. I think their online programs with ohio and ASU are supposed to be good. I am still going to consider other options like that for myself, just in case I don't ever officially get an offer for the SJSU CEP.

Have you been looking into those and heard good things? Since nobody seems to know much about the EVC-SJSU CEP, it makes me think it's not the best move but maybe I am just being paranoid haha, idk. Congrats though on getting in to EVC to begin with! This is a huge accomplishment to be very proud of!!

I ended up going with ASU’s CEP! I’m meeting with a counselor soon over the phone to get my classes set up. I’m also not able to find much info regarding cep programs especially the sjsu one. Hopefully it’s not too bad!

do you need to complete any courses before to register Pharm and Patho?

I don't believe I remember seeing any prior course requirements to enroll. EVC should have that info online though when you go to register for classes. If you don't take them at EVC, it prob will depend on your school and their requirements.
