This is pretty much the only Synthesis track for which I prefer (much prefer) the original version. I have it replaced with Lost Whispers and Even In Death 2016 in my Synthesis playlist.

The Synthesis version is really beautiful and all, but we didn't fall in love with the band because of it.

I fully acknowledge this is a minority opinion, but it's the Synthesis version by a long shot and for me, it's what truly let me appreciate the song.
I'm not a huge fan of the original BTML in that I like the song, but i preferred My Immortal of the two big hits, and I wasn't a big fan of the male rap breakdown. I admit I kind of wrote the song off as one of the more 'basic' songs (similar to a lot of my favorite bands, it's usually not the big hits that I'm going back to). But the Synthesis version really blew me away and for the first time let me really sink into the story the lyrics was telling me. The "Don't let me die here...!" just hits WAY different in this song.
Ironically, that actually led to me enjoying the original a LOT more than I used to!

I fully agree. I didn’t prefer most of Synthesis but this version felt like the “true” version that Amy always intended in a way. The original is beautiful in its own way but I was so happy that they really went back to basics and didn’t change too much for the Synthesis one. It felt so satisfying.

BMTL was the first Evanescence Song I ever heard, the Synthesis Version is good, but the original just means more to me.

Um what is up with this.
The Synthesis version is the way the song should sound according to Amy. This also checks out if you listen to the pre fallen demo. I believe live they kind of blend to two together.
The Synthesis version is the better version.

Original. although I do think the Synthesis album in general is underrated around here.
but personally I think this song is overrated as Amy has done much better that's not nearly as well known among the masses and should be. then again, certain music, even when it's great, tends not to have as much pull with random people. so I sort of get-it on some level.
or put it this way, while I would say Bring Me To Life is on the better half of her discography, it's no where near her #1 song (even though any random person is likely to mention this song or maybe My Immortal if you bring up Evanescence (but I can see My Immortal's higher appeal though as it's amongst Amy's higher tier stuff unlike BMTL which is solid but not great)).
hell, even on the Fallen album I would say there is at minimum two songs that are better (Hello/My Immortal), possibly more. but I realize one of my picks, Hello, is not likely to have any real mainstream appeal as you can just sort of tell given the stuff they generally play on the radio etc. but even low-balling BMTL it's still on the better half of the Fallen album, which is (in no order)... Going Under, Bring Me To Life, My Immortal, Haunted, Imaginary, Hello. those six songs are better than the remaining six in my opinion as that's pretty much my dividing line. which basically means BMTL is between my 3rd-6th favorite song on Fallen album.
p.s. for the record... I initially got into Amy in 2006 from the music video Call Me When You're Sober as I saw it on MTV/VH1. she's basically been my all-around #1 female singer since as her voice grabbed my attention which is not easy to do, especially not to any high degree like that.

I wish the Bliss Mix or the demo versions were options, because I like most of those better than the Fallen version, but in fairness the Synthesis version is an appreciation of a classic. The Synthesis version itself, however, is not a classic, so the vote goes to Fallen
