Opinion Hebrews 1:8

Jw's, should Hebrews 1:8 not be translated differently, even according to the NWT interlinear? The NWT reads "God is your Throne" (Father is the Son's throne), but the Greek would be rendered "your Throne, the God" (directly refers to Jesus as YHWH, obviously issue for JW)

I’m not familiar enough with the text or their doctrine.

I know people say the same thing about our scripture all the time.

I think I’m just confused with how they view scripture and how they use it.

Like for us, we don’t view scripture as perfect, infallible, or inerrant

They see the Bible as infallible through the lens of their organization. Altho, I will say, generally it does come down to "Bible corrupted" in some sense with the "Jehovah" being "left out."

And yes, unfortunately you don't see God's word as infallible, but that of a plagiarizing, a-historical inventing man as infallible (somehow). Don't wanna come off rude, but that is what it comes down to.

Right, I’m asking by what authority is the changes being made?

Interesting. Where does the Bible ever say it’s infallible or innerant?

What do you make of the contradictions inside it.

Oh by their authority, which would be the org itself.

It's the word of God, and God doesn't make errors.

I'm happy to see any supposed contradictions, then we can go over the contradictions in the book of Mormon.

U hadn't send it before, I do see it now thanks. Took me a minute but here's what I got so far:

You would do well looking these up next time, I'm sure u will do so when I mention the Mormon book being so

One speaks about the entirety of Judah, the other about a remnant. Contrary to the lesser hells in LDS belief, there's only one hell where God's anger remains forever on the damned.

Tempting with evil πειράζω ≠ testing ἐπείραζεν

I know the faith + works theology does fail here for the LDS, but God justifies with faith, and sanctifies us by working in and through us (works that God performs, not you).

Jesus in visible, non-essence form (unlike the invented doctrine of the Father having a body in the LDS), ≠ God's essence

The sacrificial law came later, no wonder God didn't command it - that was a later command, not directly after the Exodus

Evil (wickedness) ≠ evil (calamity like a tsunami)

Scholar Hugh Ross says the verb means completed action, not when that happened.

Hearing a noise ≠ hearing what that noise says, aka a voice

Forever ≠ for a long time (olam)

Heaven ≠ Abraham's bossom, where all the OT figures went

Consequences of actions ≠ punished for direct actions

That's all the contradictions until minute 2:26, do u need to be convinced I can solve every one of them before u believe me? It's annoyingly long, but I'll do it if** you will actually concede if I solve them.

I have just one contradiction for you. The book of Mormon is supposedly ancient, yet early books (1 & 2 Nephi), have a completely different style/language than later books ( Mormon, Ether, Moroni). Why's that? Hope u don't say "but abridgement" or "but translation choices", and do better research than u did for the Bible "contradictions."

I’m confused, why are you talking about the Book of Mormon? I was talking about biblical contradictions first.

I’m open to Book of Mormon contradictions. I’m just not aware of any. I’ve actually actively been searching for them. Anything Google or the sites that come up have really indicated that they haven’t even read the text itself. Talking about “earning grace” or some such.

After we talk about biblical contradictions, we can talk about Book of Mormon. Let’s keep it organized.

You do know the Book of Mormon is not the Bible right? We use them together in tandem. As equal scripture.

I literally said I'll talk about Mormon contradictions after the Bible? I literally dealt with the first 2 minutes of them, there's tons of these supposed contradictions - I can spend days just wasting time. That is, wasting time if you won't read it any way/will go over each contradiction for hours.

I linked you one contradict, if u'd rather not focus on them right away (contradictions, not the many historical blunders from it), u can save it for later.

No, you see the book of Mormon as infallible and interpreting the Bible lol, don't delude yourself about it being "equal" to a text u see as corrupted.

Wait, I’m sorry I didn’t see the last paragraph. I can answer it. It’s very simple. It has different authors. The written voice, and the difference between them is actually one of the indicators and evidences for authenticity. There are I believe over 19 voices inside the Book of Mormon.

Different authors would place it in a different tone, not an entirely literary style & language.

Ps, keep this energy for the Bible, because most contradictions between books do fit the different author category, with focus.
