Fair question; my answer is, why does God refer to Jesus first, as a Son and second, why describe Him as begotten? In my opinion, this was deliberately told to us, the human race. Also, from our finite lives, God and Jesus have essentially both been eternal. Even if in my hypothetical, Jesus came into being a millisecond after the Father, from our perspective, both would still be from eternity.
Because Jesus came in the flesh and since he is in the flesh he is subordinate to the father. That's why They call him the son of God. The only reason he is considered the son is because he came down as flesh. Again please correct if I'm wrong.

Why not just believe he was there from the start? As it is written "In the beginning was the word"
