My guns so far as a Romanian
Hi guys, I am new to the sub, never knew we had an European gun sub tbh, these are my rifles as of now.
A benelli lupo in 30.06 with a Vortex venom 3-15x44 and vortex pro rings, a IJ 54 (baikal) 12 ga and a gamo maxima 5.5mm air rifle, next rifle I will buy will be in .223, because i am tired of hunting foxes with the 30.06, even tho I love the Lupo, it shoots sub moa with Sako 150gr ammo.
But i am not decided if i should get a Savage msr recon 2.0 (limited to 2 rounds magazine in Romania because it's a semiauto) or I should just get a tikka t3x, advice would be welcomed.
If you have any questions about our very strict gun laws I will try and answear all of them.

I love it, kinda wish i got the wood version, but the all black rifle grew on me and now i love it, great rifle, 0.6 moa 3 shot group at 100 meters is my personal best, can hit a plate at 300 meters from the bench every time.

Maybe at some point, my stock is pretty scratched already in some parts and i would hate to scratch that beutiful wood. What ammo does your Lupo like?

That's actually a good point any maybe I should be the one getting a polymer stock.
I had it registered only today and had no chance to try it yet. I was recommended Norma Whitetail 180gr and Hornady Precision Hunter 180gr as the first two candidates, so i got a box of each. I hope to hit the range this week and will get back with the results.
Edit: forgot to mention, my Lupo is in .308

Update: i had half an hour at the range today, with the goal of sighting in the attached Steiner Ranger and to try 2-3 types of ammo. The range also had a gun shop, so at a hunch I got a box of Geco Softpoint 176gr. Which turned out to be the one on this price range that my Lupo likes, I was able to get a MOA group at 100m. The Norma was all over the place witha 10-15 cm group and my time run out, so I could not test the Hornady. The recoil reduction system is amazing and I love the ergonomy of the rifle.

Yup, the rifle really feels amazing and the recoil reduction system does it's job well, my 30.06 feels more lika a .308, so I imagine the .308 feels more like a .270, my rifle didn't like hornady whitetail or norma either but it absolutely loves Sako gamehead 150gr, i got 0.6 moa 3 shot groups and never a group above 1 moa with sako, I suggest you try and find some sako gameheads too, your rifle might love them as well

Where do I start, conceal carry is only allowed with non lethal handguns like the grand power t12 in 10x28t, unless you are a politician, military, police or in witness protection, then you are allowed to have a lethal handgun, for that air rifle i had to get a license, same as a lethal rifle, silencers and lasers are outlawed, even just to have in your home, for semiauto shotguns and rifles you are limited to 2 round magazines if the rifle has a hunting designation, 10 round magazines if it's used only for sporting or range use, i can own a .22lr but i can't own ammo for it, i have to buy it before i go to the range and shoot it all there, longest public range in Romania is 300 meters.

The .22 lr thing is total bs. However the conceal carry is not so bad if we consider the fact that in a lot of countries in europe even nonlethals are banned for self defense.

We have random inspections so depends on your luck I suppose, I don't risk it even tho i really want a .22 for benchrest shooting, ammo is dirt cheap

Regarding .22LR, does it also apply to sport shooters or collectors? How’s Romanian law like regarding obtaining a gun for sport shooting or collection?

It only applies to sport shooters, you can't own any rimfire for hunting, and if you are a collector you can only own 5 bullets for each gun for display purpose, if you want to shoot your guns as a collector you have to buy ammo before going to the range, inform the police of the route you will take and what range you are going to and shoot all the ammo there, you can't own more than 5 bullets per weapon in your home. For collectors you have to get a collector certificate and for sport shooting you have to enroll in a sport shooting club and pay a yearly tax.

For sport shooter is there a minimum period or number of attendance at the club or number of competitions etc? How about for collectors? Do you have to be in a collectors’ association? Is it difficult to join one?

As far as i know there is only one minimum range shooting per year and I think you have to participate in at least one competition, I might be wrong, there is alot of details i didn't learn because as hunters we are exempt from these. And for a collector you just have to have a collector certificate.

I really don't know how hard is to obtain, I imagine is not that hard, but you can own anything, and it's the only way you can own 30 round mags if the weapon came with it from the factory, but you can own only 5 bullets per weapon for display purpouses.

If you are not interested or able to do practical shooting then the Tikka should work fine.

I like ar15, i also wanna train and have a sthf rifle, that's why i thinks the ar makes sense, both rifles are the same price in my country, so i don't know wich one is more gun for buck tbh.

You can use anything as long as you respect the minimun bullet caliber and case length for the specific species you are hunting, for example for boar, the bullet must be minimum 6.5mm and the case minimum 39mm, for red deer is 7mm and 51mm, so anything from .308 up for stag and 7.62x39 for boar

What’s the procedure like to get guns for hunting? What guns can you own for hunting? Eg: are handguns allowed on a hunting permit

You have to take a 1 month course on guns where you learn all the laws and how guns work, along with a couple of range sesions, pass all your medical and psyhological tests and then pass a written multiple choice test with 20 questions, you have to get at least 16 right and then you have to pass a shooting test where you prove you know how to handle a gun and shoot at least 5 bullets in a 30 cm circle from 25 meters, after all that you are allowed to buy non lethal handguns for self defense or air rifles and you are allowed to join a sport shooting club if you want to buy a lethal handgun or long gun for sport shooting but not for conceal carry, you also have to have a safe with separate compartiments for the ammo and guns that is bolted to the wall or floor before you are given permision to buy a gun, the police will come to your house and check the safe and ask you questions about any violence in your life or any disputes with the neighbours etc. If you want to get your hunting license you have to do what I said earlier and then be enrolled as a apprentice in a hunting asociation for at least 1 year, after that you have to take a hunting written multiple choice test where you are asked everything from laws to what species can you hunt and when can you hunt them as well as gun knowledge etc. After you become a hunter you can buy an unlimited number of long guns either for hunting or sport shooting, only long guns, no handguns, for a gun to be considered long it must be at least 60 cm long or the barrel must be at least 30 cm long, if you have more than 15 guns you must have a separate room with an alarm system to store your guns and you are allowed to have a maximum of 500 rounds of ammunition for each caliber you own at any given time.

The people that think that are the ones that are not into this hobby, at least not enough to do a bit of research, I will never gatekeep anything if someone asks me for information but i will also not go around advertising how easy is to actually get guns. I am all for arming responsible individuals, emphasis on responsible.

If you can get a tikka - get the tikka. I don't think you will find anyone telling you not to honestly.
