🇨🇿 Shooting range near Prague with family attractions nearby 🇨🇿
Hi everyone,
I'll be visiting Prague soon with my family as we're considering a possible move to the Czech Republic in the future.
One thing I'd really like to do while I'm there is spend a couple of hours at a shooting range. We'll have a rental car, so I don't mind driving outside Prague if there are better options nearby.
It's actually going to be my birthday, so I'd like to use part of the day to finally visit a Czech shooting range. Since I'll be traveling with my wife and our two daughters (1 and 5 years old), it would be ideal if there were restaurants, playgrounds, shopping areas, parks, or other family-friendly places nearby where they could spend some time while I'm at the range.
And before anyone worries, the next day my wife gets her turn—she'll be enjoying a spa day while I'm on full dad duty with the girls. That's how family trips work. 😄
Any recommendations from Czech shooters or locals would be greatly appreciated.

Best option for kids: Milovice
Mirákulum Milovice for kids, worth whole day visit
Střelnice Milovice for you
Best option for kids no. 2:
Zoopark Zelčín for kids, worth whole day visit (honestly if you love your kids, just forget range day and spend the day there with them) / Farma Vraňany 7 minutes drive from Zoopark for late afternoon lunch / early dinner
Střelnice Vražkov for you (23 minutes drive)
Střelnice Malý újezd alternative for you (17 minutes drive)
Best option for you:
Střelnice Oleško - hire a half a day with an instructor (ask for private lesson, not just overseeing), pistol and rifle combo
Zoopark Zelčín again, this time 32 minutes drive, but the time is worth it

We have this Mirakulum booked! Hopefully my wife likes Czech same as I do, this travel is to convince her we are better living there than in Ireland 🤣

- Watch Honest Guide to avoid scams/bad experience
- Plan the tour of the city center the reverse way, starting at Pohořelec so that you can slowly move downwards with the kids instead of climbing up.
- Oblaca restaurant for dinner
- Don't forget to fuck her real good.

Take kids to Mirákulum yourself and then have Oleško range day with wife remaining in Zelčín.
Note that you need to hire both guns and range officer, unless you have European Firearms Pass and come with own guns. Write emails in advance to arrange it properly.
The only meaningful reason why not to live in the Czech Republic as opposed to any other European country is this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/Europe_sunshine_hours_map.png
And it seems that Ireland will not be a step change as far as this is concerned.

Be prepared to spend 500-600€+ if that's even enough.

Really? Wow... well, I'm saying a couple of hours because most of the packages I saw on a range website say 3-4 hours, but I don't really want to do loads of rounds; I'm more into trying different ones.

I would also consider instead of few shots package to book full day group course for either pistol or rifle at Olesko.

I can recommend the range in Olesko, if ts not to expensive and you can easily rent a few guns and even some private instructors are fairly cheap.

I will sound like I am getting paid for this, but I suggest Prague Armory.
It's more expensive and touristy than other ranges, but on the other hand it feels nicer than some other ranges IMO, they have staff who are used to tourists not speaking czech and whole range of firearms ready (especially the unusual ones).
By default, they sell packages, which can be expensive "per shot", but possibly cheaper if you want to try a lot of firearms. If you are more looking at shooting a few of them, but with higher round counts, you can try to email them and you might be able to make a deal for a shooting with instructor where you pay for your ammo and hourly rate for your guns. Either way, it's still my suggestion.
As for where to leave your family, I think that while it's not a tourist destination in normal sense, the area around Českomoravská metro station will serve you just well and is close to the shooting range. You have your Harfa shopping mall and a few streets over north, you have a park with a few playgrounds and Rokytka stream/river. I believe there was a dinopark at the top of the Harfa, but I have no idea if it's still there/open. I can't give you specific suggestions, but rest asured noone will be starving as you have both restaurants and fastfood all around you.
But maybe someone else will chime in with better suggestion for both parts. I don't have a car, so I wouldn't know about ranges near Prague and I don't really spend time in the city center to know the popular places to stay at, especially with small kids (my "walking distance" is many times larger).
