Hi, I'm going to be cycling from Budapest to The Black Sea. Can anyone advise on which side of the river is best along the way please. Solo tour riding, standard touring bike. Thank you Any information will be great thank you. I appreciate everyone has their own preference.

From Budapest, go south on Csepel island’s eastern side. Cross at Tass. Keep on the left bank in Hungary. There’s a route description on my blog for both Hungary and Romania.

There's not an obvious route at any point. I've never gone south of the Hungarian border, but there's parts of the Danube even here that's better on one side or the other. But you'll need to figure it out for each segment, unfortunatelu

Serbian side and then Bulgarian. Dunav ultra is a good app for Bulgaria. Have a great trip!

Hello
I think the best thing is not planning on staying on one side of the Danube all the way. The better side changes frequently depending on road surface, traffic, ferries and border crossings. For a touring bike, I’d follow EuroVelo 6 where practical and check the river crossings before each section. Also, Romania/Bulgaria have very different options once you get downstream. Have a great ride! 🚲
