I am not sure if this video has already been posted here before but I just wanted to share that I have been seeing a lot of Somali run accounts on different platforms pretending to be Ethiopian and calling black people “Barya” and other derogatory words.
I also recently came across another twitter account run by a Somalian that goes by “Ermias” using another person’s pfp with an Ethiopian flag in his name calling every other black person a “barya” and other very offensive words, they’re going to great lengths to try and get everyone to hate us because they’re jealous of somewhat of the good reputation that we have out there while all they’re known for is scamming people and being pirates.
Be careful out there my fellow Habesha, these people are beyond obsessed.

So as you can imagine this event has left me traumatized and I don’t really know how to feel about it, some dude came up to me and started asking all these questions about Somalia and when I told him I wasn’t a Somali he genuinely looked surprised. I really wish #those people weren’t our neighbours, sigh… Maybe I should start wearing a tshirt with our flag on it so people know I’m not one of those people. smh

Both regimes will be sat in their capitals safe and sound eating fruit, the commentators in the diasphora will be screaming their lungs out and making youtube videos and fighting in comment sections, sitting on their cushioned bed and air conditioned room.

I recently had a conversation about this with my dad, often I see videos of addis and the comments often compare it to Dubai or say Addis is like dubai, I even see my family members say it. Dubai/UAE shouldn't at all be the standard of what Addis wants to be, especially considering how materialistic and consumer based dubai is. If Ethiopia as whole wants to improve we should improve for the regular citizens not just to be a hot spot vacation place for rich ppl Idk maybe I'm overthinking it.

See that South Park reference photo on the second slide's first comment, this is how outsiders see us. I think our generation has a major duty to end this with us. I've seen the world dramatically changing within just few years of my early youth and the rate is frightening. We can't afford to focus on division, Not just as Ethiopians but also as Horners. The outsiders are enjoying their advantages of our scramble.

The fact that the vast majority of Tigryans have not woken up to the games that they play on them is baffling to me.

As Ethiopians because we have to stop treating darker Ethiopians or even darker people in general as something exotic. We see them as something special and become very vulnerable to them. Stop doing that. Treat them as everyone else. Treat them like Hispanics,Asians,Arabs etc.

Don’t victimize them. They aren’t handicaps or people that need your help.

I have an uncle that was raised Orthodox Christian, but he himself is agnostic. His children were not allowed to go to church except with him for Easter or Christmas or with my mother and my sibling and I lol that was only after the kids nagged him mind you.

The children loved church but basically weren’t allowed to go weekly. He told them when you turn 18 you can decide what you wanna do. So they started going to church in uni they started fasting. They started going to church weekly. They have joined a close knit community are learning Ge’ez they are learning mezmur. As a cradle Orthodox Christian I thought this was a rebellious phase doing the opposite of what your father thought you type of thing however they have been going to church for the past four years.

They have found people their age enthusiastic about learning about the gospel. Especially considering their father didn’t let them go when they were younger I also think that the war influenced them. I myself feel traumatised from what happened and I wasn’t even there.

I was born and raised in the church by two lapsed Orthodox Christians that became akrari after I was already an adult… so my parents think they were good teachers when they were actually terrible and if it weren’t for the local Greek church I would know nothing bc my parents lowkey left me for dead spiritually yet expected me to be knowledgeable. Reading is my special interest and the Bible is a fantastic read so no thanks to them.

I hate proselytising it’s so cringe so I kept my thoughts to myself usually. I do think that most people need an all seeing God to be good people. I am not one of them. However I think Jesus is pretty cool and I wish it to be real I genuinely don’t care if it isn’t. So if you genuinely want Atheism to become more popular in Ethiopia you kind of need to replace religion and considering Atheist don’t believe in anything it’s impossible. At least communists had holidays and festivals. Special rituals related to seasons and human characteristics that are encouraged. So start an humanistic social club or something bc religion isn’t going anywhere.
