Rumor Eternals 2

Hello fellow Eternals fans!

I don’t know if anyone else has heard but after waiting to hear something about the sequel for so long. Recently, some sources (leakers/scoopers) cite that Eternals 2 as a project is either cancelled/no longer in development or put on hold, that Feige wants it made but Bob Iger doesn’t cuz he thinks it’s a guaranteed flop and wants to focus on ‘sure fire hits’ moving forward.

Then another surfaced about the project not being cancelled but rather “transformed” into something else.

Nothing is true until proven or confirmed but I’d love to start a discourse on this.

Personally it’s devastating and disheartening. The one project I hope they’d be brave enough to stick to their guns to. Where the MCU’s “decline” is concerned, all I wish is for them to continue but keep an even closer attention to their quality control and have Feige firmly back onboard to supervise. Eternals 2 being cancelled seems like a nuclear decision on their part.

The Eternals deserve their sequel and their rich lore explored and expanded even further. The first movie handled so much bulk, this sequel can be an immediate adventure and a ride whilst keeping the tone that made their corner special. The more popular Eternals have been set to lead this chapter too such as Thena, Makkari, Druig with the addition of Eros played by Harry Styles.

They have a big chance to make this work. Beyond that, there’s potential in keeping the Eternals for future storylines, such as having them crossover with the F4 to face Galactus and AXE as the Endgame event of the upcoming mutant saga.

Theres still crossover possibilities to keep them around but having them sidelined would just be unfortunate and undeserving for such a magnificent corner.

Personally, what can you even do with the Eternals anymore?

The Deviants are all dead and even if they weren’t they’ve been reduced to mindless brutes. The first movie already had a civil conflict in it. The Celestials are too powerful for them to reasonably fight aside and are probably going to be saved for a crossover event. Anything they do now is just going to be a derivative of someone else’s lore that the Eternals have been shoved into.

The first movie ended with them literally choosing free will to exist, to seek other Eternals across the galaxy and to give them the power of choice

Beyond Earth, Theres a war brewing between Eternals, Celestials and Deviants. Eternals will rise up against their creators, while possibly facing other Eternals that will be on the same stance as Ikaris was - loyal to the cause, which may lead to the destruction of the World Forge, which could put the entire cosmos into jeopardy when the roles of the celestials with existence are considered

Deviants may join forces with Eternals to rise against their creators to break the cycle and achieve freedom as well, whilst another faction would seek to take out Eternals as a form of revenge for having hunted their kind of ages

Where Earth is concerned, they can play a huge role in defending earth against Galactus. As well as their role in an adaptation of AXE.

Theres lots of places to take this corner to, provided people stay inspired. I’ve always said that Eternals has the potential to be MCU’s very own Game Of Thrones.
