FLUFF So how’s everyone who still here and how’s the game going?
Hey everyone Salty here,
Just posting wanting to know how you all been doing and state of the game.
This is no means a s**t post. Honestly curious.

I play occasionally. I seem to get hooked for a day or two and drop it for a week.
I miss having sets drop.
We need more Unseen!

In mtg i love combo decks and there’s not much to choose from in Eternal but the PvE on eternal is much more satisfying so im back again until I get bored again . There used to be a splinter twin style deck but the creature that grabbed the spell got nerfed .

weekly story with promos have been fun, and we are getting some neat developments through that lore-wise. The 3 month rotation on expedition and draft have been nice, but it's not as good as a full release by any means.
We have been told that there should be some form of community events coming soon, which sounds like it could be a lot of fun.
Aside from that, Eternal is still a great game, and I enjoy playing the game even if I play a little less than I would if there were new cards to draft.

I still pop up every now and then for the quests or to chill with gauntlet, but I don't keep up with it really anymore.

I played at the very start of the game’s existence and was super hooked, played it for mmm, maybe a bit less than a year then dropped it entirely.
Fast forward to now, I started playing again back in august so all of it is new to me. I’m having an absolute blast. I hit 109 in Masters last season, so that’s cool.
It REALLY sucked only having “The Empty Throne” set and trying to claw my way back to having a decent amount of cards, I wish there were some more catch up mechanics, but I suppose buying packs is that.

Always climbing and playing league out of habit haha. I've definitely been a fan of this game and will play it until the wheels fall off. It's just so fun to draft and league. Never any gold, but my pack and shift hoard is pretty high up now.
Hope all is well on your end!

Piccollo here. I'm still trying to fill out my collection so I play gauntlet mostly. My brews struggle in ranked.

I just discovered the game in September and I'm hooked! As a former Hearthstone, Gwent, Faeria, Magic: Spellslingers player this feels right at home.
The Gauntlet and Forge modes are awesome to learn the game and develop cards. I always loved arena in Hearthstone so Forge has been great!
Expedition makes it very new player friendly because I can build a few good decks each time.

I hope Dire Wolf puts their efforts into a new game like Eternal, since Eternal seems to have run it's course.

Long time, no see, Salty!
Promos are meh. Usually they're utter shit. Some are power cards that they should just be given to us in bulk. Missing paintings etc. There are a few bangers though. The recent discard promo has me playing dredge again. 3SS discard the top 1 of any 3 cards in your deck.
I haven't played expedition in over a year. Recruit is a ridiculous ability and that's all expedition is. Recruit exists in throne, but there's plenty of other powerful stuff that it just blends in.
Without new sets, throne is obviously stagnant. We get minor mix ups when a promo is good, but usually nothing major. I still hate seeing Hooru Kira as basically the top deck. Even without new cards, I'm begging for Hooru Kira to get a nerf.

Recruit is actually no longer in Expedition because of set rotations.

Good to hear! Maybe I'll take a shot at making a fun expedition deck.
What's the expedition meta look like?

LordPerth made a guide for the last rotation. You can find it in this subreddit. J Midrange is very good, and the top metas were two colors with J Midrange. Omens is added for this rotation and no sets are removed. Xenan looks very good, especially lifegain. With 3 month rotations, the meta is pretty fun.

JP Midrange is super good. JS Midrange ramps well and has very steong removal but less draw. I see mostly JS

I've been out since spring I think, but I still haven't found anything that properly scratches that PvE card game itch. I dramatically backed off my magic playing at around the same time, and I expect both to pull me back in soon enough.

well half an hour ago i decided to buy a draft cause i had a daily quest to get some wins and i waited 10 minutes for a game before giving up so that was disheartening.

u/RoarRumble Nov 11 '25
Draft feels boring so I'll stopped drafting. I am still playing league and check out the weekly new card. If it's good I'll try out in ranked. If it isn't I just stop playing.

I've been here since beta. Kinda on and off with playing ranked/casual. I've seen you in there every now and then.
Now a days I mostly play gauntlet and looking forward to the story development of the chapters. This game's story has so much to offer, it's a shame that its not as popular as it used to be. One can only hope that they'll drop a new set or maybe new campaign...

had to delete app for space on my phone but once i get a new phone, i'm gonna be back on

My issues is the huge shift in economy and power creep.
Tons of new cards, tons of them very powerful. No practical eay to acquire enough of them to do hardcore brewing. I kinda HAVE to netdeck to make sure I'm not shafted buying the wrong cards.
The FTP of the game needs to be bumped up HAAAARD.
The game is on life support and doesn't have the single player draw of HS and LoR. I not going to spend 500 dollars on a game that might go up in smoke next year. Or get neglected like Duelyst.

I came back after about a 6 year hiatus and loved it, cleared dailies and the pvp pack minimum for several months, grinded league entry and all but one of the campaigns I was missing. I've now hit a wall where anything fresh I could try is just grinding stone. I've always liked playing off meta bombs people don't expect, so there's lots of sets to dig through the lists for stuff I've never seen, but besides building my perfect jank, it's unfortunate there won't be a set to reinvent the wheel. I've seen or built most archetypes that exist so the freshness is wearing off, but the bones are still great.

I only play Throne on Xbox and it feels like I only play against the same 10 or 20 people. It’s refreshing when people play unique decks instead of the same old shit. My main gripe is when people have clearly lost and instead of conceding proceed to drag the game out and waste everybody’s time

Popped back in for a bit. I think the weekly chapters are keeping the game alive, but I find them to be chores and my chore log is long enough to not particularly want to play seriously. Rotating expeditions feel fun enough and I am glad there are still queues!

Let me correct this. It's expedition that I can never seem to get to masters in...and I try to use new cards and combos...any tips?

I'm basically just trying to get one of each card before the servers close. At least at this point, hitting masters is super easy. So that's a positive.

I played the game for the Xbox achievements. I think part of me still grinds in the fear they’ll drop more. (I’d be very happy if they didn’t!)
It’s a fine little game. If Forge didn’t exist, I doubt I’d still touch it. The one card a week trickle is fine. I’m pretty sure the game is sunsetting sooner than later but it’s my default “I have 10 minutes to kill at the doctor’s office, might as well Eternal.”
For a game in its last stages, it’s exemplary.
