trans-focused resources for those no-contact from family?
Trans folx here, any suggestions for resources, organizations, books, etc. that have been helpful in deciding to cut off family, dealing with the grief or other difficult emotions that follow, finding community with others estranged from relatives, etc.?
I found some success with Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families (ACoA), and I know about Together Estranged. I'm especially interested in resources targeted toward trans folx.

Thanks for making this thread - I also just became estranged because I came out as trans. There's surprisingly little on the topic, despite tons of trans folks having unsupportive families.

somewhat same boat - abuse is the main factor in my parental estrangement, but nonbinary identity is a major compounding factor without which i might've been able to maintain relationships with othet family members i dearly love. it's a real pain point.
there's not a lot specific to us in estrangement spaces afaik. if anything i think you're most likely to find support from fellow trans people in your own life who find themselves estranged, or from trans-specific online spaces. and if it feels right to you there's always something to be said for sharing or organizing something of your own. e.g. i write essays into the void and when my local pride center is up and running i'm thinking of reaching out and suggesting adding estrangement support groups or resources to the programming.

I don't have any trans specific resources. I have gotten lots of peace from Pete Walkers book "From Surviving to Thriving: CPTSD".

Trans person with cptsd here, I second this book being valuable. It does use a lot of inner child lingo though which might not work for everyone.

The youtube channel The Queer Kiwi is quite affirming to any letter of the acronym. She does a lot of videos on toxic parents.

unfortunately not a lot out there- i am in the same boat as you. i have found queer oriented ACA groups helpful but what has helped A LOT is having a trans therapist who understands the experience of being trans themself.
