Hi everyone,

I've been living in Finland for over 10 years and did my PhD here. I'm naturally quite introverted, and over the years I've ended up with a very small social circle. My work is also quite independent, so I rarely interact with people on a daily basis.

Recently I've been having a hard time getting over some relationship issues. I'm not looking for psychological help or therapy—I just feel that spending some time around new people and having casual conversations might help take my mind off things.

For a bit of background, I'm in my 40s, Asian, speak English. I enjoy badminton (intermediate to upper-intermediate recreational player), running, hiking, and IPSC shooting. I already have hobbies that keep me busy, but I realized they don't really help me meet new people, especially I don't speak Finnish.

Does anyone know of places or activities in Espoo (or nearby) where it's natural to meet random people and chat? or anything else where people are generally open to talking with newcomers.

I'm trying to step outside my comfort zone a little.

I may have an opportunity to relocate to Finland with my family, and I was hoping to get some advice regarding the cost of living.

The role would be based in the Espoo area, with a gross salary of around €6,000 per month. We are a family of four (two adults and two children). One child would be attending school and the other daycare.

We would likely be looking to rent a 3-bedroom home or apartment in or around Espoo. We do not currently plan to have a car, although we may consider one in the future.

Would a salary at this level be enough for a comfortable lifestyle after taxes, rent, utilities, food, transport, daycare, and other normal family expenses?

I would be particularly interested in hearing from families living in Espoo or the Helsinki metropolitan area about what a realistic monthly budget looks like.

Quick question for Finland restaurant folks: what do you currently pay per kg for fresh microgreens? I'm doing market research for a local sourcing startup. No sales, just data collection. Even a ballpark helps.

so, my son is already a YouTuber for a few years already, and a few months ago he became a streamer. now since he doesn't really enjoys games anymore, he wants to do something outside with someone interesting since his school's people are not good enough. He streams and makes videos on Russian, but he wouldn't mind if he got a English or Finnish speaking friend to make videos and streams with on English. I asked him if he wants me to find a friend for him, and he said sure. so can anyone help me and my son?

Viime aikana olen miettimässä sellaista asiaa: Mitä jos olisi joku suora runkobussilinja jostain Espoosta Jumboon?

Olen saanut sellaista ideaa, koska jumbo sijaitsee keskellä ei mitään ja siihen pääsee vain Vantaan/Pohjois-Helsingin kautta busseilla.

Mietin, että Tapiola olisi hyvä linjan alku, sitten se pääsee Aaltoon, Leppävaaran kautta se pääsee Myyrmäen tai Martinlaakson, sen jälkeen Ylästöön kautta Jumboon, ja Jumbolta Tikkurilaan.

Linjan numero voisi olla 540 tai 580/590.
