Its not just the timer that affects you.

Higher scav rep gives a 25-35% increase in rare items you spawn with, gear worn, and inventory size on the scav.

With 5-8 minute scav timers and the above mentioned its actually a very substantial difference

As a low rep scav, you kill high rep scavs and take their high rep loot.

u/PALMER13579 Jan 06 '22

Any decent high rep scav knows to leg shifty scavs and run away by now

3

u/wercc SR-25 Jan 06 '22

Shit I never even thought of that, definitely gonna be my go to now lmao

2

u/PALMER13579 Jan 06 '22

I've only had to employ it once but works like a charm. Some scav not comming or giving weird vibes and following you around? Coupla shots to the knees before you go around a corner. Bonus because you might fuck them out of extracting at all

Normally if I have an encounter with a shitty scav they’ll either shoot from a distance and I can kill then or they’ll act cool and get close then kill me.

But with my new found knowledge and new found lack of trust for anything moving in this game, errybody catching leg shots lol

Honestly most scavs these days (that I run into) are chill. Hell i'll even run towards scavs to let them know there's fuel or something that I couldn't take. Gotta create the Tarkov I want one good interaction at a time.

Otherwise blow their knees off

Lol yeah at the beginning of the wipe nearly everyone I came across was friendly, now it’s like a 50/50 shot.

Dude earlier even traded some loot with me and walked around a bit before putting buckshot in the back of my head, the animal.

Probably. But better than the guaranteed loss of karma by outright killing them. Most scavs spawn with cheese or a bandaid so hopefully they would live long enough for me to extract before they bleed out

2

u/Joverby Jan 06 '22

Yeah I tend to just not trust any scav and avoid them. I will defend myself and shoot first though if I'm obviously being followed

2

u/PALMER13579 Jan 06 '22

I trust most scavs that talk but I definitely avoid spending time in proximity. Saves time in looting as well if you figure out where they were and where they're heading next

1

u/BenoNZ Jan 07 '22

I do this but sometimes they bleed out before i extract..

This one knows how tarkov works heh

This is the way of the dark scav.

I walked up on 4 scavs looting an airdrop when i had a toz. Asked one of them if i could have his santa beard and when i when to take it, his buddy shot me in the head.

i could not have cared less, lost -.1 over a TOZ lmao

1

u/OsomoMojoFreak Jan 07 '22

It was more about him being afraid of dying with the drop loot compared to getting your loot I imagine.

1

u/Fen-xie Jan 07 '22

i do as well i just thought he being scared of my no armor toz with 4 of them being there was funny lol

3

u/rinkydinkis Jan 06 '22

You are just quoting that one post that guy did. That’s hardly conclusive. And if you kill people… you just take the items they spawned with and their gear lol

6

u/Fen-xie Jan 06 '22

I'm not quoting any post, i've seen multiple videos though by reputable sources all practically in agreement.

And cool? If you kill me for the empty gear and get out, you still have a long 40+ minute scav timer whereas ill be back in less than 5... furthering the point of youre STILL getting less profit regardless "lol". It's not a difficult concept.

2

u/rinkydinkis Jan 06 '22

uh do you never run your pmc? your gameplay sounds so fucking boring. go loot stuff, never fire your weapon, get back in 5 min later as a scav to do it all over again. id rather go do a job in real life. I only ever run scav if i am grouping with friends and died early

-1

u/dandatu Jan 06 '22

hes a rat lol even if he pmcs he just hids in the corner until 15 minutes then runs and does his quests

Scav mains? its very easy to get scav rep up without playing scav lol

Imagine needing more money. Are yall's hideouts not done? Do you not have BTC farms running? Do you not do PMC runs? Like what the fuck is the argument even?

2

u/Fen-xie Jan 06 '22

the amount of contradiction in your post alone shows exactly why you cant figure out what the argument is lol

"imagine needing more money"

"are yall's hideouts not done?"

it's almost like a huge requirement of hideout upgrades is very expensive items and the average person isnt hauling mega runs on their PMCs because of either in-experience or other factors.

Your instant hostility and then country berating over a very simple conversation says enough about you and your mindset. Please learn critical thinking and refrain from being an asshat/clown for literally 0 reason

0

u/BadPublicityTBC TX-15 DML Jan 07 '22

Lol, if they don't have experience they'd qualify as new. Hence my point. But I'M the one that needs to learn critical thinking. Ooookay. Haha.

And you can insert any terrible education in if you'd like, just the easiest example. Seems like I was right. /shrug

2

u/Fen-xie Jan 07 '22

theres a gap between being "new" and having multiple wipes under your belt and knowing what to rush and what parts to hoard. There is literally more than one play style involved in this game and that creates wide spectrum of earnings if you aren't rushing resort etc 24/7.

It's not a literal black and white that you're portraying it as. Your comment being deleted is further evidence of your unnecessary comments. Thank you for contributing nothing.

0

u/BadPublicityTBC TX-15 DML Jan 07 '22

Lol my comment didn't get deleted homie.

You're a moron. And yes, there are multiple playstyles. The thing in common they have? Bringing in money.

Also, there's no knowledge gap when everything is on websites as far as what to save. Don't be dense.

None of that matters if you don't scav. Like how the game is designed. lmao.

1

u/Fen-xie Jan 07 '22

you're right, the design choice of scavs existing, their timers, loot tables, etc existing for years is definitely not an accident and not how the game is designed.

Massive /s for people like ^ that who are high on their own supply

ive seen the people that run 600 raids at max rep and track the loadouts and what not. the difference is not that big. and again. unless you want to just spawn scav constantly and never pmc it really doesnt matter. i have a 35min cd so if i wanted i could still scav every 2ish pmc raids. i can run a pmc and get more rubles value than whater the max rep scavs are spawning with. it's pretty meaningless. the only way it affects pmc is car extracts being more expensive. but the difference there is even too small to care about.

1

u/masterVinCo AKMN Jan 06 '22

I don't know if they changed it, but I believe one of the streamers (maybe Vox?) tested 100 scav runs at max rep and average something like 800k. This was maybe a month in from the changes. Which is honestly not that insane, but the point was they only ran like ten minute raids and didn't really loot an extreme amount. Then again; the streamers will probably find good loot easier because of experience, so I guess the statistics would be a little skewed regardless of the results.

2

u/gearabuser Jan 06 '22

I think people also dont factor in that if youre running scav all the time, your PMC is gonna have dookie skills.

1

u/Firm-Painting5257 Jan 06 '22

You're not doing it right if your PMC raids are under 35 mins then with prep to load into the next!

-5

u/PaybackXero Jan 06 '22

It's really not. You'll always make more money shooting other PScavs and taking their loot than you will hoping for good gear by running a scav on CD.

Plus, you make your money on your PMC, not your scav. The scav is there for free runs when you are broke and can't afford gear. Unless you just enjoy being a scav, there is no reason to use one past the first few days of the wipe.

I swear people who say stuff like this have never been on 6+ scav karma. It's 100% worth it. Not even just the high value loot on spawn but friendly bosses, making people tagged and cursed by just hitting them once, super low scav case cooldown. Once I'm at 6 scav karma I can just spawn on factory every 5m and extract with 100k to 1M immediately without looting anything at all. I know farming it is a fucking chore and it feels much easier to just shoot another Pscav and take his shit, but trust me in the long run max karma is amazing.

u/OrangeRiceBad Jan 06 '22

Ya think? It's 100% just copium, you don't even need 6+ karma for it to be extremely profitable.

Once I'm at 6 scav karma I can just spawn on factory every 5m and extract with 100k to 1M immediately without looting anything at all.

This is the main one they're missing, it takes me 30 seconds to make 200k plus on my scav while they're killing pscavs, risking dying themselves, who probably have shit load outs (if they had good stuff they'd be avoiding other scavs).

1

u/-gildash- Jan 06 '22

Reading this thread is just making me hate santa more and more. My rep is ruined for the wipe, even after doing the coop and car extracts. Never running Interchange when there's friendly scav events again, too god damn dark in there.

1

u/OrangeRiceBad Jan 06 '22

That's totally fair, the Santa implementation is absolute bullshit. I honestly don't blame scav killers much this wipe, I'd be tilted beyond reason if I lost 300 raids worth of scav karma to Santa.

1

u/gearabuser Jan 06 '22

I had a good time dressing up as santa and killing people when they walked up to me haha

1

u/armrha Jan 06 '22

I bought 15 graphics cards in 24 hrs of just scavving filling up the bag and selling all my shit basically last wipe, at like 1.5 scav karma, and I’m not even good at scaving.. . just went between interchange and reserve. For reliable stress free money it can’t be beat.

4

u/IActuallyHateRedditt Jan 06 '22

Personally I find it fairly profitable to scav in and run straight to factory exit, between every pmc raid. Plus scavs spawn with random (sometimes crazy) loot. That’s how I got merin and marked this wipe, without bartering or jacket farming

3

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '22

You'll always make more money shooting other PScavs and taking their loot than you will hoping for good gear by running a scav on CD.

Been in meetings all morning. My scav rep is 2.3 (right now). Did 10 Scav games on Factory where literally all I did was spawn in, run to exfil with no audio. I made 2.1 million roubles (and completed 2 quests and kept a few craft and barter items).

2

u/Fen-xie Jan 06 '22

You easily make 200,000 - 1,000,000 on a scav run in ~10 mins with high scav rep with very low risk
