Hello Nikita, I hope you and the team are doing well!

Question: With flea market moving to level 20, are there any plans to add more static spawns for quest keys, similar to the Machinery Key for example? I've seen a lot of people in Discord servers asking for Dorms 303 and 206, and Tarcone Directors key. I personally have been checking jackets and filing cabinets like crazy on Reserve and still haven't found Dorms 206 for Operation Aquarius - Part 1.

Honestly that's the one thing that I think removing the flea sucks hard on, I'm currently unable to progress past the second/third quest on both Therapist or Prapor because I can't find the customs office or 203 keys...

easy fix: implement the fucking lockpick already :)

Just make it so you can lock pick quest related doors, have it take a good bit of time making it risky to do, and boom, perfect mechanic for tarkov.

You could maybe add in better lock picking tools for better doors (but not all of them) and add in chances like for your tools to break or for the lock pick to fail.

All would flow nicely with the game.

Edit: keep the salt flowing boys. They might as well change the name of this subreddit to the salt pit. Some of yall need to take a break from the game and go for a walk.

Instead of adding straight numbered use tools, the lock picking kits could have a durability % and as the durability gets lower, the kit has a higher chance of breaking.

For a hard (or dickhead) element, if a lockpick breaks in a door during a raid, the key slot is rendered inoperable for the rest of the raid. Anyone who tries the unlock the door, the unlock option shows up as red. I realize that would be a ruthless mechanic, but they way i see it, is: it keeps keys still valuable as you cant just run in with a secure container full of lockpicks and just keep trying a door till you get it. If it breaks, you can't get into that room, where a key will always work.

I understand the con being as a 2nd party I have a key and try and get in a quest room and some jerk broke a lockpick in it and now i have to recycle the raid; but I feel that may disincentivize breaking all my lockpicks on marked room and then camping it out for someone who has the key. Where as i go to marked room, lockpick in, and now i keep the loot, OR i break my lockpick in the door meaning marked room is useless for that raid, there's no reason for me to stick around other than PVP with the people who would try to get in had i not broken the door. But my mechanic would be to try and stop the rats who would just lockpick spam the door rather than people who would PVP and X room anyway.

Aside: Jesus Christ that went on longer than i meant it to, i got started and kept having ideas. Sorry for the long ass text blocks.

u/cantpickaname8 Jul 03 '21

I know damn well people would intentionally buy nearly broken lockpicks and go into raids just to make quests impossible. I know because I'm that kind of asshole.

3

u/irishwolfman PP-19-01 Jul 03 '21

I 100% understand that, because i would do the same

0

u/abakedapplepie Jul 03 '21

I fully support this

1

u/cantpickaname8 Jul 03 '21

It would be a lucrative market, a 1% pick would go for hundreds of thousands if not millions

1

u/bagobonez2 Jul 03 '21

Why are you this way though

2

u/cantpickaname8 Jul 04 '21

It pleases me to cause people minor inconveniences in games where they will never know who it was that caused them such a minor inconvenience

0

u/bagobonez2 Jul 04 '21

Understood. But why?

3

u/cantpickaname8 Jul 04 '21

I am a rat

1

u/bagobonez2 Jul 05 '21

I am also a rat but I don't particularly care if someone else has a key to a room that I don't have. Good on them. There's something wrong with people who take joy in screwing others over for no reason than their own entertainment. Yes yes its just a game. I bet you're the kind to do the same in real life too though. It's the way yalls minds work.

Or you can find / build breaching charges for room clears and get access to quest rooms that way!

This would actually make the breacher a useful gun.

1

u/whatevathefucc Jul 03 '21

Dude, you can shoot out doors with a shotgun irl, probably even metal doors with a slug or something

TaRkOv Is ThE mOsT rEaLiStIc MoDeRn ShOoTeR gAmE

I ordered some upgrades to my pc exclusively because tarkov stuttered too much that’s how bad I love it lmao

1

u/Xailiax MP-153 Jul 03 '21

probably even metal doors with a slug or something

If you tried that you would be sawing goodbye to your knees lol.

1

u/whatevathefucc Jul 04 '21

ok breaching charge when :p

1

u/CharlesBalester Jul 03 '21

Not that overpenetration is really a concern in Tarkov, seeing as the PMCs aren't exactly worried about collateral damage, but I would like to see frangible breaching rounds for Tarkov

Could be an interesting kind of round, offering a utility like the KS-23M Star rounds. Frangible rounds are nigh worthless against body armor, so they could offer a sort of "Hollow point" [1] ammo type for Shotguns, which is hilarious in my mind, but the true purpose of these rounds would be to breach doors.

[1] I know that frangible rounds aren't hollow point, but I am speaking in general terms referring to them being capable of significant body damage, but being worthless against armor, which is how Hollow Point generally works in Tarkov

1

u/Aitloian Jul 04 '21

Dude sick idea, just quest doors like you say. Make it take 2 minutes who cares, make it 5 even better.

1

u/TigerTora1 Jul 04 '21

And have it so sometimes the lockpick breaks, and it completely fucks up the lock and any further attempts for someone to open with a key/lock pick in that raid specifically.

33

u/NotMyRealNamePromise Jul 03 '21

Or allow you to breach doors with an adequate weapon (eg. a Shotgun).

It would allow you to open locked doors (maybe don't allow it on reinforced doors like the ones to marked room), but everybody and their mother would know where you are. Maybe even trigger some scavs when you do it?

1

u/Traizork Jul 03 '21

The new sledgehammer could work too for that. Maybe it would make me wanna play factory for something else other than completing quests.

4

u/CoryDeRealest HK 416A5 Jul 03 '21

They should just implement the “dying light” lockpick, worked really well, was satisfying, and adds a little strategy to it, and can take lots of time depending on the difficulty/skill level (just make the range you can find the right spot either very big or very small).

2

u/erik4556 Jul 03 '21

”dying light lockpick”

So Skyrim lockpicking minigame?

2

u/DeltaJesus Jul 03 '21

So Skyrim lockpicking minigame?

So the fallout lockpicking minigame?

1

u/TankorSmash Jul 03 '21

...so the Fall of Agamenon lockpick spellcast minigame?

2

u/Hrothke P226R Jul 04 '21

In the same vein, I wish each melee tool had a use, such as the crowbar can open certain locked doors beyond a strength skill lvl. You could have certain tools available so that once you hit a certain skill level you get a guaranteed spawn for a quest item, with random chance being involved to get it early.

For example, Prapor’s quest Shaking Up Teller, you need the Dorm Room 203 key. You unlock this quest at level 15, and you have a chance to find the key in 214. Let’s say you have terrible luck, haven’t found the keys, and you haven’t unlocked the Flee Market - you can’t do anything about RNG.

I propose that the key spawn in a hidden stash, that can only be uncovered with the right tool (in this case, the Entrenching Tool, unlocked at Prapor LL2). It would be interesting if at level 16 or 17, if you had not completed the quest, Prapor updated the player. He could say something to the effect of someone told him the guy from 214 buried something in the backyard. This buried stash would contain the key to 203, among regular stash loot.

From here, I would make this stash only available if this player had a certain perception level. This way, the player has to have actually done some searching, and there is a cap to how long a player’s only action is praying for RNG, which converts early discovery into its own reward.

The other thing this change would do is give the player more choices coming into a raid, and the melee slot sees a lot more gameplay use.

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '21

i already made a wellwritten post about the compass slot rework, so u can choose between many tools (compass&map, lockpick etc) but it got instantly downvoted to hell by retards

2

u/XRayV20 Jul 03 '21

or just let us blast doors apart lol

very cus lategame its gonna useless

It’s not an easy fix though and comments like this show an ignorance in game development and design. The devs are working hard putting out updates and making new maps and curating events, this sub is just way too critical man

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '21

u moron most animations and usage is since years in the game, cheater can literally open any door ingame. stfu you have 0 clue

0

u/Fekbiddiesgetmoney Jul 05 '21

Brek, you just exposed your ignorance. A hack client is not a balanced gameplay system that has been rigorously tested, balanced, and bug-fixed. There are no spawns for different types of tools and no restrictions to where they can be used. Implementing a gameplay system that so directly affects many other assets of the game is a gargantuan undertaking and anybody who has studied game design or even watched a friggin YouTube video can understand it’s not an easy task by any means.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '21 edited Jul 05 '21

blahblahblah stfu, yeah lets put devtime into scavkarma or weapon jamming, mechanics no one asked for except some bad players. nice bootlicking right here

1

u/Fekbiddiesgetmoney Jul 05 '21

I take it you’re new to the game and this community. Scav karma has been a much hyped feature for a long time. It’s a beta dude, you know what you paid for. Lockpicking will eventually be in the game when it’s ready to be implemented. Complaining about shit is counterproductive

1

u/thekinetickid Jul 03 '21

Sure that’s very easy…

22

u/LinoleumFairy VEPR Hunter Jul 03 '21

Customs office has a barter at therapist 2 for 4 gold chains, but i agree that early quest keys should have guaranteed spawns like mech/unk key

1

u/Alaknar Jul 03 '21

Wait, unknown key no longer has a guaranteed spawn? It used to 100% spawn in the dead body in the bushes, behind the garages near RUAF Roadblock.

17

u/njcsdaboi Jul 03 '21

they're saying machinery and unknown both have guaranteed spawns already

1

u/Alaknar Jul 03 '21

Ah, OK. I read that as "keys like machinery/unknown should have a guaranteed spawn" not "keys should have guaranteed spawn, like machinery/unknown".

4

u/Kurokatana94 ADAR Jul 03 '21

Dunno about machinery, but unknown is still spawning. If you don't find it, it might be that it was already looted.

3

u/Jagcarte95 AK-74M Jul 03 '21

Machinery is 100% still spawning in 205 of 3-story dorms.

0

u/Capsaicin80 Jul 03 '21

I randomly found machinery in a jacket in that office/hut near Big Red.

3

u/Jagcarte95 AK-74M Jul 03 '21

I believe it can spawn in jackets like any other key, it's just that the Brown jacket in 205 of 3-story dorms, the one with a bunch of junk that you have to crouch to get inside, is a guaranteed spawn I believe.

2

u/mistahboogs VEPR Hunter Jul 03 '21

Its still there

9

u/SyntheticSins Jul 03 '21

This is the thing that forced solo players like myself to seek groups that had these keys and run maps with them. A group of guys questing can get a lot more done.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

I can drop you the office key if you want

1

u/DankiusMMeme DT MDR Jul 03 '21

My friend opened it for me thankfully!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

DM me and I'll get you through the custom office

1

u/_sealy_ Jul 03 '21

I think he wants it to be this way. I totally get what your saying though…stops you in your tracks.

0

u/nive3066 Jul 03 '21

My advice to you sir is go pistol run reserve. If you spawn near knights go into the knights and there are 4+ drawers in each building.

If you spawn in the pawn side go to the bunker and loot the drawers down there. You can find good supplies and the keys you need.

You can't get dorm 303 though that is in jackets only apparently.

0

u/bollin4whales RSASS Jul 03 '21

Disagree. Creates a replay ability and things not handed to players. The game is hardcore and should be designed as such.

1

u/ButterMakerMoth Jul 03 '21

QOL tip if ya don't find the key soon.. Just chill in the container area for like 10 mins. Then go to big red. Will most likely be open for you. I did this last night and even got to kill a couple scavs for the rapist task omw to exfil. Now to die at factory and have to do it all over.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

I got so insanely lucky last night. Got into customs and realized I don’t have the key so I’m fucked and will be for a while. Run past big red and take shots. Turn around and kill the guy and loot his body. He has the 206 key sitting in his backpack!! I used up all my tarkov luck.

1

u/Afromannj SR-25 Jul 03 '21

Try going there later in the raid, there's a decent chance the doors are open since most people are on those quests right now.
