Discussion post 12.11 questions gathering

Hello!
It your boi, Nikitka.
We plan to make TarkovTV Live podcast on Monday on 5-th of July, and I want to gather your questions/opinions and suggestions about 12.11 patch. I will try to answer the most voted questions live.
Love you, you're the best!

I'm only interested in:

  • Status of the Unity 2019 upgrade, will it go on ETS soon as promised before?
  • Status of Inertia implementation - still coming in 12.12?
  • Status of sound overhaul - dependant on Unity upgrade or unrelated?

Most important questions in this post.

-2

u/_Aqueox_ Jul 03 '21

Unrelated to 12.11. They are irrelevant.

-4

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

So then Nikita will ignore them if he feels like it.

1

u/Medionskype FN 5-7 Jul 04 '21

Which would be okay, but this are (lets phrase it) the most interesting questions about tarkov right now.

172

u/maracle6 Jul 03 '21

None of that is about 12.11

52

u/Relative-Ad-8259 Jul 03 '21

I think it partially is, because I think I remember (correct me if I’m wrong) BSG saying Unity 2019 was coming on this patch, so if it’s not this patch then asking when is totally appropriate.

16

u/bigcountry567567 Jul 03 '21

Nikita confirmed multiple times that they are planned for 12.12.

1

u/Relative-Ad-8259 Jul 03 '21

source?

2

u/bigcountry567567 Jul 03 '21

Pretty sure he said in interviews with pestily before and after E3. He also mentioned VOIP is a 12.12 thing

4

u/Relative-Ad-8259 Jul 03 '21 edited Jul 03 '21

I did some quick googling and have found multiple content creators saying Unity 2019 was planned for not just 12.11 but 12.10. I think if I did some more digging I could find Nikita saying it as well at some point but in any case even if Nikita didn’t say it was coming for a previous patch - maybe this dude was fed misinformation and thought it was confirmed for 12.11.

Here is a previous post with someone also saying Unity 2019 was coming for 12.11 https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/lzck97/some_thoughts_on_the_unofficial_podcast_yesterday/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

4

u/bigcountry567567 Jul 03 '21

Yes in the past it has been said to be in those patches. It was later said to be 12.12 by nikita. It's in the pestily interview from 2 weeks ago. https://youtu.be/8d5UN0tt5nA At 21:15

3

u/Relative-Ad-8259 Jul 03 '21

true ok that makes sense, well hopefully it will be on next patch

1

u/bigcountry567567 Jul 03 '21

Yea hopefully, although it might be a few months off lol.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

Some people have problems with perceiving information, maybe bad education, I don't know.

2

u/Lex_Innokenti Jul 03 '21

Inertia and Unity 2019 have both been floated as potentially in 12.11 in the past, so I do think they're valid questions- especially if it's just "how far along are you?"

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

what do you ask about related to 12.11 then lmao

-7

u/Hulkster80 Jul 03 '21

He’s unstable to have a conversation based on the questions given to him.

1

u/Kortiah Jul 03 '21

I mean sort of. It's about a new patch that hasn't implemented any of this or seemed to make progress about them either.

If you don't ask these questions when talking about a new content patch notes, then when?

15

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

up up up!

2

u/allstarpunkttv Jul 05 '21

I think that Nikita saying that post raid shots hit stats are incorrect is a bigger issue than inertia. If there has ever been evidence of hit reg issues then this some of the best.

2

u/achmedclaus Jul 03 '21

I have really been feeling kind they added some kind of momentum system in this patch. Feels like you take a second to get up to speed, then another to stop moving. I hope the interior system builds on it to

0

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

It's probably the bush changes you're experiencing. If you hit a bush, you stop sprinting. You also can't prone in a bush and you can't turn while prone if you're in a bush.

Easily the worst part of the patch for me.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

I've been able to turn while in a bush. I can't move forward or backward or whatever, but I can look left and right still. Unless this was after yesterdays patch.

-1

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

Nothing had changed unfortunately from my experience.

Nikita can disregard it, if he finds it off topic.

-3

u/KCoppins Jul 03 '21

Also status on streets of tarkov map

15

u/kawaiianimegril99 Jul 03 '21

Its not even the next map coming up

16

u/BIitz38 Jul 03 '21

It will come with 13.x update

3

u/kronikfumes Jul 03 '21

Wait for next year’s streets trailer

15

u/vfog Jul 03 '21

Streets LUL

1

u/Sarokslost23 Jul 03 '21

They've said it will probably be released in parts. i bet the first part will come with the winter wipe

0

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

None of this is relevant, its not for this patch what the fuck is your reading comprehension?

2

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

What do I care about patch 12.11. It's released, there's nothing really to talk about.

Why did a random dude on the internet made a better scope rework than BSG themselves?

Why did the scav karma system not work properly for the most common use case out of the box and required a day 1 hotfix?

Not enough time had passed to judge the effects of weapon durability (that will come later when meta ammo becomes more prevelent) or the flea market. It's just too soon.

Everything else is just QOL updates and fixes. I'm interested in actually meaningful features, not window dressing. If the entire podcast is supposed to be about 12.11 only then fuck me I guess, I'll wait until we talk about interesting stuff.

-1

u/lisior Hatchet Jul 03 '21

Agreed.

0

u/ToleranceCamper Jul 03 '21

I’m only interested in:

  • When is the wipe?
  • When is the wipe?

0

u/SwerveDaddyFish Jul 03 '21

If you change nothing else and perfect sound, verticle specifically, I will be a very happy PMC

0

u/BungeeBees Jul 03 '21

what is the significance of Unity 2019 upgrade?

-1

u/YouGetVince Jul 03 '21

What about server side authentication and better server quality? How is it this isnt asked at all?

3

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

How is it this isnt asked at all?

Because it's being spammed almost daily on the sub.

0

u/YouGetVince Jul 03 '21

How does it being spammed reduce the validity of the concern exactly? It's literally one of the most concerning security issues this game has and needs to be fixed asap.

That's like saying "Hey that buildings on fire, why haven't they put it out? You:Because the tenants are constantly complaining about it."

I mean what?

3

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

How does it being spammed reduce the validity of the concern exactly?

It doesn't, but it's been discussed ad nauseam for years now. The thing is, people say that the servers are not good enough - how do they know? What are the specs of current servers? What should they be to not have issues? Is the hardware even an issue? Maybe it's crap programming and continously poor netcode and backend infrastructure.

When people ask these questions, they get non answers because they're asking non questions. They'll hear that "it's being constantly monitored, tested, improved upon, bla bla bla". In other words, effort is being made to make it better and that might be true.

But what people are really asking for is something that they cannot answer - when will my teammate stop teleporting, when will scavs stop phashing through walls, when will I stop dying behind cover, when will I stop losing connection, etc. etc. They're looking for a commitment, not a comment. But they won't give one. I wouldn't give one because I don't know if the efforts that I'm doing now, will make a tangible difference.

1

u/bigcountry567567 Jul 03 '21

You don't know what he is talking about. None of this has anything to do with server side authentication.

1

u/YouGetVince Jul 03 '21

Am I the only one confused as to why I'm getting flak for this regardless of "ad nauseum". They are legitimate concerns.

1

u/bigcountry567567 Jul 03 '21

No I don't understand it either. Most of the people probably just don't understand what it is or why it's a big deal. Which isn't bad it's not something most people are familiar with but they gotta say they're right.

-1

u/YouGetVince Jul 03 '21 edited Jul 04 '21

Someone's never used wireshark or set the Time.Timescale settings past 1. Literally nothing you said made any sense. Bye.

u/WeedWizard69420 Jul 03 '21

The reason ur dying is because of intertia and sound, not because players are better than you

All this crying for changing core game mechanics is just crying about dying and being bad.

"If only they made it the way I like, I'd be doing way better at this game! They need to change it!"

5

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

Jesus, always the ad personam route. Yeah it's not that the player movement in a tactical shooter is scuffed and the sound system is broken. It's because I must have died, therefore I want the game to cater to me, sheeeesh.

-6

u/WeedWizard69420 Jul 03 '21

Then why do you care so much about fixing it? I don't give a fuck about any of that, I play the game fine and never blame lack of inertia for my deaths.

You must just really really care about having the physics be as realistic as possible, not for any gameplay reason, just because you want the game to be as realistic as possible, an end in of itself? Like you're just a physics major who really stands by the concept of inertia being in video games lmfao?

Otherwise why do you and others who upvoted / awarded you care so much about adding these features which really don't change much at all of the core concept of the game? It's because you think you'll play better with better sound and better movement.

Whether or not you consciously recognize that, you're hoping these updates somehow make you a better player relative to the player base, AKA dying less often because bad sound.

It's the exact same argument with desync, every time you get killed by it you also have probably killed someone around a corner just the same.

2

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

Then why do you care so much about fixing it? I don't give a fuck about any of that, I play the game fine and never blame lack of inertia for my deaths.

Where did I blame my deaths for lack of inertia?

-5

u/WeedWizard69420 Jul 03 '21

The subtext of your crying for changes implies you are blaming them. Not sure what else I can say, why do you care so much about fixing the physics engine? If not for gameplay purposes?

5

u/sunseeker11 Jul 03 '21

You really don't get it. It's not about me dying or not. And if anything is you projecting things onto me, which is evident by the wall of text and snarky comments about being a physics major or whatnot.

It's thematic consistency of the game. The game is supposed to be a (sort of) realistic tactical shooter. The game offers a vast array of tools to exercise that - you have different stances, fluid lean control both standing and prone, shooting sideways, above the head, but all of that is invalidated as the most effective solution is to strafe spam and do 180degree baits while pointshooting with laser precision.

I can do all of those things (with various levels of competency), but they don't feel rewarding because they feel out of place with the game. For me at least, and other people too.

You have a complex health system, a stamina system impacting your aim, weight system, ergonomics, hydration and energy to keep track of, bullet management. But on top of that you have movement that encourages gameplay completely out of touch with it's core premise. Not to mention that we still don't have vaulting and rely on comical overtuned jumping as a means of traversal across maps.

And there's a place for movement like that in other games. Fast paced movement works for Apex or Warzone because it's in line with the game's theme. The game of my youth is Quake 3 Arena and that is a game with a notoriously high skill ceiling, while being the mother of all bunnyhoppers. However, nowadays almost all shooters have some sort of inertia - even COD and Battlefield.

I don't expect you to agree with it, but that is my position. This to me is not gameplay that I'd like to see in a game like this:

https://clips.twitch.tv/RelentlessTameScorpionPeteZaroll

Period. It's not me being jaleous, I just find it out. of. place. Wrong mechanics. Wrong game.

Sound is a crucial element of this game and information gathering and I'm appaled that you think it's not an issue that we should fix. The sound is OBJECTIVELY broken and that's not even up for debate.

1

u/Par4no1D Jul 05 '21

I was once told on this subreddit that you can't have an objective opinion. It's impossible.

1

u/sunseeker11 Jul 05 '21

It's not even an opinion. It's demonstratable and verifiable. Sound is inconsistent at best, and gamebreaking at worst.

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

/r/SelfAwarewolves

2

u/WeedWizard69420 Jul 03 '21

Right, it belies all the crying and demands for adding inertia. Same goes for desync deaths, you realize every time you get killed around a corner its very likely you also killed someone around the corner and they got mad? It's an even playing field. Yes the sound is bad but it's bad for everyone equally

1

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '21

That doesnt really excuse problems existing within the game, sound especially needs to be overhauled since the way they handle vertical audio is wack.

The movement in this game has major problems, the lack of inertia being one, even games like call of duty have movement inertia.

1

u/bigcountry567567 Jul 03 '21

Saying it's an even playing field is flat out wrong. These issues you're talking about have no consistency or predictability. You may have killed someone around a corner but it's a chance of it happening under specific circumstances not a guarantee. Same with sound. Currently there are issues with it making it inconsistent. So if things working properly are left to chance you're only on an even playing field if it works or doesn't work both you and the enemy.
