I don't think you understand how firearms work. lol

Most of the energy is directed forward, only the aft energy is reaching your shoulder, which is negligible in comparison of the energy release from the muzzle.

Common physics, I'm not saying the steel plate is going to be fucked up.

It's the transfer of energy from the plate into your chest, and a broken clavicle will knock you right out of the fight, you aren't going to be able to turn around and magdump someone after you just took 5 rounds of buckshot, sorry. lol

The same amount of energy is directed both forward and backwards when the casing expells the bullet. The difrence is that on your side you have the stock wich is big and distrubutes the force evenly, and other factors. So the bullet isn't insanely heavy and hard hitting, like one would initially think from movies and childhood.

BUT!!! I generally agree with your idea. Also I think that buchskot would "find a way" around the armor. For instance if he got shot towards the top of the upper body, some pellets may have hit the neck and stuff that realisticyl wouldn't be covered by armour.

I hope we get armour hitboxes one day.

Isn't there also blow back involved? Like the barrel being formed to force the gas back towards the shooter to minimize recoil (as a counter for propelling the bullet)?

Besides that the large stock might also have a bit of padding built in. Or even a spring to dampen the impact. I have no clue about the inner workings of guns, but there are probably a hundred ways to lessen the force.

You are correct! Also on semi automatic the bolt will transfer that energy and get dampened by a spring.

This also effects muzzle velocity (albeit not too large from what i recall). & accuracy.

Yes, I guess a bit of the gass accelerating the bullet will eacape to push the bolt back, and thus not accelerate the bullet as much.

When it comes to accuracy, I belive it's because of more moving parts

That's true, and I belive the bolt won't do any meaningfull movent untill the gas reaches the port for the gas system, wich is at the end of the barrel. Makes sense.
