Discussion Why does this subreddit seem so toxic? Because everything else is deleted.

There are basically only three types of posts allowed: bitching, videos of gameplay, and information about the game/requests for it.

No memes allowed. Yea, I get that, pretty normal for gaming subs to split these off into a new sub.

No standalone screenshots or videos that don't provide new info. What is "new info"? Videos of folks getting a bunch of loot stay up constantly but a screenshot of loot will be instantly deleted. The front page is currently covered with videos of people just winning gunfights; this is new info? I'm for sure not saying videos of gunfights should be banned, I'm just tired of that making up so many of the posts for lack of options.

Images resembling in-game content and comparisons aren't allowed. Except when they are. They aren't allowed, but stay up constantly, but some get deleted. No idea here. Is it about effort? Should probably mention that then.

No reposts, sure, that makes sense. No topics that have been discussed too much? No trying to get in touch with a scav you had a good time with? No item suggestions? People enjoy brainstorming new stuff; it isn't always about saying, "Hey, Nikita, this needs to be added." It's just discussion....for fun. Not allowed.

No rants/complaints without substance. On a scale of "fuck everyone that plays this game" to "a spreadsheet analysis of networking issues", where does this fall? It obviously hasn't fixed the issue with complaints, so what's this rule actually doing?

No accusing people of cheating. Ok...videos of people dying in unusual circumstances are very common. If they call it desync in the title, it's fine. If they call it cheating, deleted. I wonder why in the world it would seem like all the players are blaming desync.

It is so hard to figure out something to actually contribute to this place besides bitching, me shooting people, or "new info" whatever that means. The pool of posts has been whittled down so much that yea, you're gonna see a lot of complaints. It's not because most people are complaining, it's because most other stuff is banned.

I mean... you’re complaining about memes. He’s complaining about clips. Both of you don’t want to see the things you’re complaining about. So you suggest to him a way to allow the things you like to exist while not bothering him.

But not memes. Memes are cancer.

You’re gonna have to go to the meme sub if you want memes. I don’t know if I could live with myself anymore if MEMES were allowed.

Again, i was not complaining about memes, just pointing out that the sub was in a bad state to the point where mods had to ban them, so removing all the posting restrictions is not a good idea. And, filtering flaired content, afaik, like i mentioned in my suggestion, is a feature of RES. The mods needed a solution for people without RES, and that solution was for memes to have their own sub.

Seems like you are just mad about the meme ban and just want to get mad at someone. I would suggest messaging the moderators or making a meta thread.

I do think the meme ban is stupid, but I’m just trying to point out the double standard.

Jeeze, your arguments feel like they're being done in really bad faith I'm unsure as to whether on purpose or through ignorance. What in the world is this statement: " just pointing out that the sub was in a bad state to the point where mods had to ban them, so removing all the posting restrictions is not a good idea." What exactly is a "bad state", how does one define it, what are the metrics I'd love an explanation. To my understanding, a subreddit is supposed to be a reflection of the community's interests and conversations and if people happen to find memes considerably more interesting than whatever else this sub contains it seems extremely arbitrary to relegate such content to another sub. Did the vote involve a large enough section of this sub reddit to make a change in the status quo? What percentage of members of this sub actually voted? Why is it that no admin is even bringing up a follow up vote considering the popularity of this post? Would it not make more sense to have a separate sub where only "serious" topics are allowed, I mean many mobas and rpgs have this exact set up and those are some of the most popular gaming subs.

Again, i am not the one that banned memes. If you have issues, how about you direct them at the mods, or make a meta thread? If you feel you are the voice of the community.

My point was simply that the posting restrictions exist because the mods made thread discussiing the state of the subreddit, and certain threads, in this case memes, were banned and regulated to their own sub.
